Although I'm not saying the fight was fixed, but it's nieve to think the "fix" happens in real time. You talk to the ref BEFORE the fight, instructing him to take the "opportunity" when it presents itself. Simple
if it was worth its salt female boxing could stand on its own with separate events
piggybacking off of male boxing means there's no real demand for female boxing
How many trash male fights are on the undercards of better fighters?? This was a match between two skilled fighters, one being very highly skilled. True female boxing doesn't have the same depth as male boxing, but there are trash bouts between males all the time.
I just watched the first three round and part of the 8th. Any who thinks Barerra didn't win CONVINCINGLY, need to go back and watch the fight. Marco almost koed him in the 1st round. Of course that isn't determinitive of the outcome, but it definitely set table for the rest of the fight.
Someone making a movie about a boxer does not make shockwaves nor impact in the boxing world or anywhere else. Vanity project, whether Hamed was involved or not. Dare I say, his movie(s) are as much an exaggeration as his loss to Barerra. I like Hamed, his career was GREAT for boxing. He was a great fighter. But his impact on boxing does not outweigh the fights barerra had AFTER the Hamed fight, let alone Barerra's entire career.
Prince Naseem Hamed was clearly not in the best condition, but? That was his own fault, and Marco Antonio Barrera definitively deserved the win'.
But I think over the years? This lost on Prince Naseem Hamed's record has been over exaggerated 'even now with the title of this article it is being over exaggerated'.
Prince Naseem Hamed was not clowned; he was just beaten by a better prepared fighter in Barrera 'that is it'.
Note: In my opinion Prince Naseem Hamed was still a better fighter than Marco Antonio Barrera 'seriously? If this was the worst and only lost on Hamed's resume, then people all need to be honest. It was not a bad loss'.
Prince Naseem Hamed went 12 rounds against Marco Antonio Barrera 'he was neither beaten up or ever on the verge of being stopped'.
But for some reason, certain folk within the boxing community over exaggerated the win 'maybe they had all be waiting for this moment, and witnessed Prince Naseem Hamed smash up many other top level fighters in his career'.
To conclude: Overall, I think historically the win for Marco Antonio Barrera is overrated 'similar to how Tyson Fury's win his overrated vs. Wladimir Kiltschko'.
Prince Naseem Hamed still retired as a World Champion, after wining against Manuel Calvo 'Marco Antonio Barrera did not retire as a World Champion, and he did suffered extremely bas loses to Amir Khan'.
Yes Barrera was miles outside of his peak, I am just contrasting each fighters careers Marco Antonio Barrera was a great fighter 'But Prince Naseem Hamed was the better fighter, more talented, and overall in my opinion his career has made a bigger impact on the sport of boxing' etc.
"Prince Naseem Hamed still retired as a World Champion, after wining against Manuel Calvo 'Marco Antonio Barrera did not retire as a World Champion, and he did suffered extremely bas loses to Amir Khan'."
Hamed retiring as champion and not Barrera is meaningless IMO. Hamed had ONE more fight after his loss to Barrera, Barrera had 18, 18 more fights after his fight with Hamed. many of those fights were against HOF fighters. Hamed was a great fighter and better showman, but he wasnt better than Barrera IMO
People will never understand that Hamed should have knocked out MAB but became too Brash very sad day
You're right, I wouldnt understand that. Maybe if Barrera stood there and let nassem punch him, he would have knocked him out, lol. Barrera was a better boxer and fighter than hamed.
25 years ago today, Prince Naseem Hamed suffered his first and only pro defeat in an exceptional performance by Marco Antonio Barrera.

damn! was that 25 YEARS ago???? I'm old
He really should be fighting at 175 or higher. His sister should be at 135. Disgraceful that the sport allows this.
both are too thin for those divisions
I don't get all the hate against Fundora, he actually comes to fight, and isn't afraid to mix it up. I could understand if he stood back and jabbed all night.
