i don't hate Margarito, but this last stunt? i can't respect it... i just started thinking he was like a clean-up man, and then he's ducking Mosley of all people... to take a bullshit fight with Cotto, that he might mess around and lose...
i dunno how dangerous i'd say Mora is, but he could very well sneak in there with his style and snatch a win if Kelly is bullshitting... honestly Pavlik v Abraham is the fight that should be happening... we know this... but i think it IS Arum that's stalling this thing out... and even tho i like Kelly's dedication to the 1-2 with the occasional double jab, i expect Abraham to beat that ass...
ha... random indeed... interesting fight to put in there... LMAO @ the announcer complimenting Joe's "accurate punches"... they definitely found their mark on the back of his opponent's head... and those uppercuts?... ha...
Could he win a decision? Sure he could, I've seen stranger things happen. But I must agree that he doesn't have enough power to keep Pavlik off his ass. This is where Sturm might have to hit and hold a little, and hope to take Kelly out of his gameplan that way. As for AA, I think he's the best of the three, and I think he has a good chance of stopping both Kelly and Sturm. Definitely Sturm.
Haye's people try to make it seem like Haye and Wlad will be a dream match... but he doesn't fight enough, whereas Wlad is cleaning out the scrubs(which is basically all the heavyweight division)... Haye should beat down Arreola, he should have enough talent to do that, but where from there?... luckily, he's trying to fight Wlad and not Vitali, so he has the slimmest of chances to land something... but it's not very likely he can beat Wlad, either...
You're right, in a way I do apologize, you're a respectable poster imo.
I just don't like it when the fingers are just pointed at only one person being called a cheater when the whole boxing world is full of them.
that's a resectable post, man...
i voted hype... i could be wrong, but based off of what i've seen, he's too eager to KO someone and swings pretty damn wild... one fight i saw him in, the ref counted to ten from seven very fast, not giving the guy a chance to get up... he wasn't even hurt.. and he dropped Gamboa earlier... and he seemed nearly equal on hand speed...
i like marg, was gutted when i stayed up to watch the mosley fight.
with all the illegal wrap stuff i find that diaspointing but the guys who wrapped it are to blame.
exactly...
i'm reading this crap now... somebody had it perfectly earlier, Margo is not the god people make him out to be... forget Santos and the others, who can he beat on the elite level?... he could never beat Money May... PBF and Tony would be like PBF and Baldomir... not the exact same fight mind you, but PBF would stick and move his ass off...
plaster or no plaster, Margo was in a bad situation... he was just dumb for taking half the bread to get his ass beat... he should have taken the 4 mill to have Paul put him out... and that way, maybe the plaster wouldn't have been found... but then again, we might not have this wonderful thread...
roach is a great trainer, but is it just me who sees roach trying to make every potential fight benefit pac from the beginning?... dlh at 147, cotto at a catch weight, they'll probably try to get pbf at a catch weight too... and as for floyd sr's comment, it's hard to see serious skill when pac knocked out a joke in 2 rounds...
Agreed 100%, but the fact that it wasn't...doesn't that concern you a bit? It just seems like people are wanting to see Floyd get his first L more & more. That's the only explanation I can fathom for Oscar getting 1 scorecard in his favour, and Oscar didn't do anything! I think Manny can make a more compelling/closer fight that Oscar did, which is why I can't see Floyd getting the nod in a close fight here. He has to KO to win, or very clearly outclass Pac which is no easy task.
you're right... pbf's gonna have to impress... on the other hand, i think he's up to the task... plus, the dlh thing was also for cinco de mayo... they might not have the mindset of screwing pbf, especially if he stops jmm or clearly outclasses him where pac struggled...
Good points, that's what we need to see. Is he up to the task & willing to let his hands go more than he has in the last few years?
he'll have to be... otherwise he could lose a fight that comes down to the main point of this thread, punch output... people forget about pbf's defense tho, and pac beat up a dlh who spread himself thin and a ricky hatton who... well...
sandyvahra, you bring up very good points... although i believe that sd pbf got over dlh should have been a ud... i agree with Dominicano Soy about floyd slowing pacman's output up... i can actually see him knocking out pac if he strings his punches together... i don't think roach would be stupid enough to instruct manny to go for the jugular with money may, he might try to get pac a little more calculating(not sure how that would work out)... floyd's gonna land the straight right, if pac finds a way to block it, pbf'll connect a left hook at the end of it... one thing's fa sho, the ko pac got on hitman was impressive, but ricky's feeble... he won't get floyd that way...
if it goes distance, i think cotto will pull the decision... but i'm not so sure that clottey can't get cotto in trouble before that and possibly finish him... clottey's pretty solid, i haven't really seen him hurt much, but his style will irritate cotto, at least to some degree... it's all on cotto, will he wilt or will he rise to the occasion?...
Yeah, I expect to see Floyd use the "Jab to the body" ALOT. Land the right and then clinch right after. Pacquiao can be a very elusive target, not on the offensive though, JMM has proven that. Mayweather isn't gonna open up, he'll wait, difference is, Mayweather doesn't care about putting on a good show. Mayweather will be patient and wait for Pacquiao, then counter.
i agree with this, except i think pbf will duck and roll after landing the right instead of clinching...
if by feather fisted you're referring to clottey breaking his hands, i just thought about that too... that would play a major part in the fight as well... i think clottey learned his lesson in not throwing when he had margo looking stupid for 5 or 6 rounds and gave up the rest of the fight...
I do not think champ is referring to that, but I don't think he will hurt his hand again. When I used to box, I learned the first time.
i think you're right... i think clottey's a much smarter fighter now... he landed on judah pretty nicely, and cotto can't move as good as judah...
of course he wants the fight... question is: will roach try to pull strings again to get the fight at a comfortable weight for manny, or will they fight at 147 like everybody knows they should?...
you are wrong, if Tito wants to come for real and stay, he will have any elite fighter looking for him.:peeright:
you said it yourself, he has to come for REAL... not that sad shit against RJJ... the way Tito's looking now, he might be able to be a good gatekeeper... maybe if he trained his ass off, that would change... i don't short any fighter out of their credit, but come on, Tito's got some work ahead of him to be relevant again...
Fine, lets keep this civil. First let me appologize for the jab I took at you earlier. It was uncalled for. But lets get something straight my man, Floyd is not in DLH's spot and will never be. Oscar has commanded huge paydays against the Patrick Charpentier's, Stevie Forbes, Mayorga's and Sturms. Floyd has never proven he could carry a show and generate that kind of money against that caliber of opponent. He has needed mega stars to make mega paydays and now he thinks he has a right to the drivers seat.
Sure he deserves to get paid. He's still one of if not the best fighter out there. But to demand 20 mil? Its a joke and an insult to boxing fans to be expected to shell out that kind of cash to a guy who is solely in it for the money.
Most fans want their boxing heroes to be warriors and passionet about fighting. Floyd is neither of those things. His talent deserves a payday (not 20 mil), his arrogance and attitude about the sport don't deserve shit. He's already rich beyond imagination. How about fighting for the fans for a change, for legacy?
it's all good, man... i know how this internet shit gets... and you have a good point... DLH gets these ridiculous paydays, and that's what PBF is going for... he deserves the paydays, yes, but i've already said 20 mil was high... i think he was going for a smaller amount, but threw 20 out first as a starting point... you're right about him being in it for the cash, but does that really matter if he's whooping ass?... we all know he retired because they wanted him to take fights for less than he deserved, i agree he should've wiped some 0's off before leaving(Cotto and Berto come to mind off tops)...
that Diaconu thing does suck... i've seen him fight a jabroni... he got skill, but he couldn't have beaten Dawson EVER... and now we can't see him fight Branco... Sturm don't want no piece of Abraham either... Sturm was screwed in the DLH fight, but he really isn't that great of a boxer... i wish someone would shut his ass down...
Wipe your chin before you talk to me!!
just as i thought... you ain't got shit to say... at least why do you feel PBF shouldn't get paid?... can you take the dick outta your ass long enough to answer that?...
this shouldn't be the mismatch people are saying it would be... Cintron can definitely knock Cotto out... the fragile hands are an issue, but he punches harder than Margo, and dodges punches better... if his hands go bad again, Cotto would then probably break him down like i've seen some others predict...
exactly, and also to add to your point, mayweather has been able to pick his opponents, margarito has had to take whatever he could, now, he has a choice in what he wants to do and he's a dick, that aint fair......
i will say this though, DLH has fought damn near everyone in his prime and theirs, so i give him a slight slide on this, but mayweather, no way, he's been picking his fights since he got his first belt.......
the dude that made this statement hasn't a leg to stand on.....
he's doin it to get back at DLH, THAT'S what makes him a dick... cuz he thinks he's entitled to Floyd type of money... for beating ONE good fighter who was whoopin his ass til he gassed out... Floyd wasn't entitled to Floyd type of money til recently... he settled too, he just had better negotiations for fight purses...
