I'm tired of ppl declaring fighters as super great or calling fighters just hype and then going into hiding after they are proven wrong. So this thread(I will be making more of these) is to call on those ppl when they are actually proven wrong with evidence.
So pick your option for Yuriorkis Gamboa but remember, you might be proven wrong so pick carefully.
Hey man, give the kid some credit...he can f.uckin punch! Not every fighter is going to be 100% technically well sound. Tyson wasn't necessarily the best technical boxer, but he sure did knock the **** out of people, and that's really what people want to see in a Gamboa fight.
anyone that voted "just hype" can still jump on the bandwagon. Gamboa hasn't won a championship yet. c'mon, heres your oppurtunity to say that you might be wrong about him just being hype.
this window of oppurtunity won't be open for long, I promise you. take it while you can get it.
so basically what you're saying is, he needs Floyd Sr.
No, what I'm saying is to let him do what he likes to do while sharpening up a few things, if he can't keep his hands up and be effective, I doubt he'll be able to master the intricacies of the type of defense that Mayweather Sr. teaches while being effective.
Ask who ever made the poll. Who's that chick with the nice titties in your sig?
we are clearly not on the same wave length.
answer to your question is above.
well, that defeats the purpose of this thread. if we're going to wait to see what he "really" is, then why have a poll on it? lol.

The dude has all the speed and skills in the world, But damn he goes down in every single fight that I've seen him in although he gets back up. Just wait till he fights somebody decent before we make a decision.

Right now I just see way too many *****s in his armour for this guy to become a "great" fighter. He is exciting and has potential and will no doubt become a world champion but I think that he is being over-hyped a little at the moment without a doubt. I am still a fan of his though. A dynamic and great to watch power puncher.
I don't think he'll ever be a guy with a hands up defensive style, I used to think he could change but I don't think he will now, I think his team should work on his movement, let him do what he likes to do, get in and out quickly while throwing those very quick shots. Maybe get him to keep his hands up in certain situations like when he's buzzed or when he's on the ropes etc. but don't make him keep his hands up all the time, it actually makes him worse as a fighter.
I agree about tucking his chin in though, that chin gets way too high.

Yessir, the dude's got remarkable skills, ala Zab Judah. Needs to work on his defense and be just a little more patient so he can set up his attacks without getting cracked. Tucking that chin might help too.

Gamboa can become the real deal but we'll have to wait and see, he needs to work on a few things.

he went through the Pistons in the East Finals. The same Pistons that beat the Shaq-Kobe-Malone-Payton Lakers in the 2004 Finals.
The ho in your sig has got to be the sexiest bitch in the world! Who is she?
Good thread kswizzy99 you called it just right too a lot of guys that were banging the drum for Gamboa have disappeared. I made a thread about him and people were saying he has a glass jaw, but he has never been knocked out and, when he has been hurt its been when he has been too reckless etc. He was knocked down by an elbow in one fight too.
Props to Reed he did say a long time ago that he expected Gamboa's lack of defence to cost him at some stage.
thanx dk.
yeah I made this thread for the irrational idiots. PPL saying that Gamboa is going to get destroyed by 6 of the top fighters in the division. PPL even had him losing before everyone of his last 4 fights. Its ridiculous. I don't get how you could watch gamboa fight and not see how incredibly skilled he is. Just a bunch of haters.
but really, nobody has been proven right yet. We'll see what happens.

I feel Gamboa is the real deal. He just needs to stay hungry and keep his hands up. When he puts his hands down, he scares me. I am shaky on how his chin will be when he goes agaisnt bigger and better competition.
In a wack Eastern Conference and the first 2 teams they faced weren't all that good.
he went through the Pistons in the East Finals. The same Pistons that beat the Shaq-Kobe-Malone-Payton Lakers in the 2004 Finals.
i voted hype... i could be wrong, but based off of what i've seen, he's too eager to KO someone and swings pretty damn wild... one fight i saw him in, the ref counted to ten from seven very fast, not giving the guy a chance to get up... he wasn't even hurt.. and he dropped Gamboa earlier... and he seemed nearly equal on hand speed...
I think he is the real deal, but he is flawed because of his talent. His over confidence makes him easy to hit, however I think over time his defense will improve.
Not sure, but I think Max Kellerman wants to make love with him.
Nah that's Williams.
