I think Floyd will land the more meaningful punches, but he's going to have to up the intensity level and throw more punches or Manny will win on activity alone.
I agree...if Floyd and Pac fight, we're going to see one heck of a chess match at an extremely fast pace!
I'm rooting for a good round of boxing. I enjoy watching both of these gentlemen fight. When I think of Floyd, that one phrase from Lil' Mac's Trainer in Mike Tyson's Punchout comes to mind, "...float like a butterfly and sting like a bee..." Although that might be an Ali quote (not sure), the video game definitely comes to mind! Lol!
When I think of Shane, man...that boy brings a good fight. He comes to handle business. I expect to see Floyd a little out of his comfort zone on this one, cause when Shane brings it; he brings it!
I would like to see this fight because it would give us insight into where each fighter really is in the game. For Pacquiao, it would show us how he would do against a quick boxer/puncher as well as give us a glimpse as to how much he has left in the tank. It would also answer many questions for him (Manny) pertaining to the effects of the KO loss to Manuel. Can I still take a punch? Do I still got it? How are my reflexes? Etc.
For Broner, it would answer the questions many are asking. Is he for reals or just another hype job? Does this man truly belong w the elite?
My two cents.
marquez is just incredibly suspicious, although i agree that some pacfans are going overboard(wileyhyena) with the spam threads and non-stop accusations like there's proof
Why? Because he beat Manny?
It wasn't the first time JMM beat Manny.
Why? Because he's working with Heredia?
So what? Manny is working with Ariza....HEREDIA'S STUDENT (subordinate)
According to your logic, then Manny is also suspect because they both (Ariza/Heredia) are cut from the same cloth.
You are simply positing that it's peculiar that now should be the time for the issue to be really set forth. With that, you can say I am simply a butthurt *******.
That's is an accurate analysis of your situation.
NOW that is a strawman argument.
No sir.
My response is: so what? When the obvious comes to light, its time to say something because the real issue is bigger than just one boxer, even if its Manny Pacquiao.
You should have said something way back when Manny refused to take the test.
No. Are you so naive? Passing the test is a science in boxing these days. And the business is designed to accomodate for big money. Stop being such a fool. Its a joke.
Actually, I think Larry has a point. The commission was doing their job up until Manny got KO'd by JMM. If Manny had not gotten KO'd everything would have been fine and dandy. But now because manny got put out, then all of a sudden boxing needs to be cleaned out. All of a sudden the commission is outdated. All of a sudden passing the test has become a science.
Stop drawing up strawman's of the topic of discussion and engage in a debate that is objective. The reality is that steroids in boxing were not a problem in round 5, but were extremely prevalent at the end of round 6.
For the record, I am a fan of this great sport. I am not a *****, nor a *******. I love boxing period. I love watching Mayweather make boxing look easy, just as I love Manny going buck wild and knocking people out, just as I love watching Juan Manuel put on a counter punching clinic on his opponents.
But the writing on the wall is:
All of this could have been avoided way back when Floyd said "Take the test."
You are simply positing that it's peculiar that now should be the time for the issue to be really set forth. With that, you can say I am simply a butthurt *******.

Manny shows no visible signs of doping.
I truly doubt that you are credentialed to make such an "educated" statement. Just what are visible signs of doping?
exactly all he had to do is take the damn test and we wouldnt even be having this discussion cause it the 2 biggests draws in the sport supported random testing the rest would have had to fall in line
I told him to take the test Larry...I told him. But he didn't want to lee-sen tu mi.
Yeah man...no kidding. Him being out for so long had me worried as well. Even though I saw that happen in sparring, I didn't expect it to really play out like that.
Nuts.
To be completely honest, I never expected Berto to test dirty. And now that he did, I'm like, "What the heck happened?" he always seemed like a straight up dude. If anything, I had my suspicions about Ortiz. So, for Berto to test positive and Ortiz to test clean kind of got me a little shook. Haha!
A few weeks back I remember someone asking if torn muscles were common injuries amongst people who juice. So it kind of got me thinking. But y'all are right, he did pass that first round of tests. Just goes to show that things ain't always what they seem I guess... :-/
I thought this first episode was pretty good. Bradley's dad is hilarious. The highlight of the episode was when he was telling the story about the "funny" smell.
"You smell that?! You smell that?! It smells like (bleep)!"
I'm going to give Berto the benefit of the doubt for one reason, the steroid he has in his system so outdated even the regular testing methods can catch it, and it last in your system a really long time..Why would he take something like that purposely to try and cheat..Just doesn't add up..
You see...that's what I'm saying. I don't see how someone walking into a fight with random testing will go out of their way to risk being caught and exposed. I might be going off on a limb here, and will sound hell-a naive, but I really think Berto took a supplement that had an illegal ingredient without him knowing it. And please, don't mistake me for a Berto Stan. I'm just a boxing fan, looking at the entire situation and trying to make sense of it all.
If anything, I think these two recent events (Peterson and Berto) will serve to make boxers more aware of what they are taking regardless of intent.
We are sick and ****ing tired of repeatedly deleting the same old crap about steroids, gay this and that, cheating, polls about who's cheating, who believes those who say they're not cheating, etc. POST IN AN EXISTING THREAD ABOUT THE SUBJECT OR DO NOT POST. THERE WILL BE NO WARNINGS ISSUED.
DON'T BE SURPRISED WHEN YOU'RE BANNED WHEN YOU DO IT.

You need to get off of your high horse Larry. NOBODY is accusing ANYBODY of anything. The topic is a result of a legitamit question that came to mind, and one I thought worthy of discussion. If you follow the thread many of the members who responded had some very insightful comments on the matter. All except you of course. Coming in here acting like a fool. Either add something constructive to the discussion, or get the hell out.
Khan vs Ortiz would be great for boxing because it would answer a lot of questions about both fighters. For Ortiz: heart, chin, mental fortitude, etc. For Khan: All of the above plus "Are you REALLY ready for Mayweather or just that paycheck?" in this match up I believe Ortiz has more to lose.
Ortiz vs Canelo would catapult either fighter to new heights and would serve as valuable experience for both since they ate so young. For Canelo, depending on the fashion in which he wins, a win over Ortiz would be a nice feather on his cap. In this match up I believe he is the fighter with more to lose.
For Ortiz, if he defeats Canelo, this would set up future fights with Cotto at 154, Canelo rematch, Perro Angulo, Kirkland, and Ortiz track record shows he will jump across weight divisions to fight the best (win or lose). So, if Ortiz knocks out Canelo I can even see an Ortiz-Martinez fight at 160. That would be huge...anyway...this is just me on too much coffee. I'll get off of my soap box now... Lol
HAHAHAHAHA! This made made me laugh uncontrollably for a bit. Can you imagine if this indeed was the case? Can you imagine?! Not saying that this would be the case, but it definitely does make you think... Lol
why cant we have both???all 3 fighters are young
Absolutely. It would be a great thing for boxing if these types of fights came to be. Hopefully someone at GBP makes it happen. Mad props to them if they do!
Tyson vs Mcneely
Tyson-Holyfield 2
Mayweather-Ortiz
Hopkins-Dawson 1
Pacquiao-Bradley
Abril-Rios
Then look him dead in the eye and say "son, go watch a different sport, boxing will only break your heart."
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That's classic right there! LOL!!!
The first set of fights that came to mind (particularly because I was on the Show---e website) were Salido-Lopez 1 and 2. Those were epic especially when you take into consideration the fighter's backgrounds, odds, and as always, the rivalry between Puerto Rico and Mexico. Other fights worth revisiting are:
Maidana-Khan
Ortiz-Berto
Arce-Vasquez
Bailey-Jones
Cotto-Judah or even Cotto-Mosley
Hamed-Barrera
Marquez-Diaz
Does Cottos performance against Floyd earn him a second shot at Manny?
I never liked the idea of their first fight being held at a catch weight, so I would love to see Manny and Cotto fight at 154. In my opinion, I think with Cotto fighting at a weight he's comfortable in, and having a solid trainer in his corner (one that actually knows what he's doing) would add drama and different elements to the fight.
I'd have no problem dishing out $70 to see that fight (especially if it has an under card as exciting as last nights). Just my two cents though...
You should add a poll with more options. Personally, I would like to see him fight Broner. If not him, I agree with another poster who mentioned that he needs to close the Pac chapter.
I think this whole "olympic testing" thing, in the end, is a good thing for all parties involved: Mayweather, Pacquiao, and the fight fans. The olympic testing will be good for Mayweather for two reasons. The first is, it will give the man peace of mind. The second reason is that, if Manny truly is using any illegal supplements, then this will deter him and his team from using them, thus keeping the fight clean.
As far as Pacquiao is concerned. Well, the random testing thing is a plus for him because after the fight is done with, and if he emerges victorious, Mayweather will be without any excuses or conspiracy theories as to why he lost.
Lastly, if this fight does undergo the "olympic testing" process, it guarantees the fans a fair fight. In the end...we all win. So why not do it?
(P.S. For the record: I'm on the fence for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight...may the best man win...may the best man win.)
http://m.guardian.co.uk/sport/2002/sep/05/rugbyleague.drugsinsport?cat=sport&type=article
This was back in 2002 but but proves a few points.
1. Rugby isn't as clean as some claim it is.
2. Any professional sport is at risk of having athletes use performance enhancing drugs to get that edge. Especially if big money and sponsorships are involved.
3. Although there has been an attempt to clean up rugby, the use of PEDS is probably even more rampant given the fact that drugs are now more advanced, more potent, and more difficult to detect.
So, all in all, to make the assertion that ONLY in America do we have this problem...and only in America are sports as exciting due to PEDS is garbage. As some have said. Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.
I don't know if Ortiz is ready for Bradley. Bradley is on fire, and has excellent boxing skills. I would love to see Bradley step into the ring with Khan. That'd be a great, great fight!
Thank you for the great fights champ! Your contribution(s) to the sport of boxing have no doubt placed you amongst the greats. God bless you and your familia.
