Calzaghe was one of the most overrated fighters ever. He had a protected career only fighting in his home town against nobodies and his claim to fame was beating Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. in their 40's. Froch is right as far as looking at Calzaghe's record and seeing whose fought and when he fought them.
What happened to the days a fighter could fight whomever he wanted to fight. C'mon fighters, have a voice in your own career. Stop letting these promoters puppet you around.
This is a fight that Floyd will definitely take. Guerrero gives the appearance of a dangerous fighter without really being a threat to Floyd. He's taylor made for Floyd. He gets hit easy and often and is inexperienced in big ppv fights. Another Victor Ortiz. If Guerrero was a serious threat Floyd would never fight him.
GBP is not as bad as Toprank when it comes to keeping their fights in house but they have become just as sleezy and manipulative as Toprank. They are up to the same old tricks of the sleezy Don King type promoters and they are hurting the sport.
So Pacman gives him 3 rematches and his biggest paydays and Marquez can't do the same. What an ass. He knows another fight will call for Olympic style drug testing and his so called "nutritional" trainer (steroid distributed) will have a harder time "preparing" him.
Chavez jr. Is getting too much credit for one round. He was schooled and got exposed for 11 rounds. If he didn't outweigh his opponents by 20 pounds he would've got knocked out. He had one good round and the idiot fans automatically forget about the first 11 rounds that he got embarrassed.
This is ridiculous. They are acting as if Chavez jr. won or just gave a fight of the year performance. He's getting way too much credit for one round. Even with hurting Martinez as bad as he did he still was unable to stop him and Martinez went toe to toe, didn't even hold. This bum needs a reality check. He got embarrassed for 11 1/2 rounds.
Absolutely true article. Rios has always been overrated because he's a tough, exciting, and fun fighter to watch. But as Abril proved, if you don't stand right in front of him and let him tee off on you he has nothing else. He really doesn't deserve a big ppv payday yet but he will get it anyway because fans will rally behind him the same way they do with Chavez jr. even though he's a limited fighter.
Did you find any of Manny's past fights fishy as well?
Pacquiao has been suspect also. The difference is Pacqiuao has never looked like the Incredible Hulk the way Marquez looked while having an admitted steroid distributor in his corner. Just look at the obvious. You probably believe Barry Bonds was all natural too.
I have been in and around the ring and have spoken to people that are experienced in the field of PEDs. The bottom line is if PEDs didn't give a fighter a MAJOR edge they wouldn't be illegal. Any time something increases you strength it in turn increases your power, speed, recovery time and endurance which says it all. Maybe you can see it but I can't see a Manny (like the 130 Manny) KOing Cotto. Again a 50% KO ratio at 130 and a 85/90% ratio @147? Believe what you'd like if it amuses you but it's not a coincidence that this is the first time in boxing history that this has happened.
Hey Sugar Q you obviously believe Floyd Jr. is God and can do no wrong but let's be realistic here. You claim to be in and around the ring and spoken to PED experts. Yet anyone who knows boxing and PED will tell you that yes steroids do improve strenth but they don't improve your skill which is what Pacquiao has done since his last loss. He has continously trained harder and improved his boxing skills. Ignorant people such as Floyd and yourself somehow believe that steroids are a magical drug that can turn anyone into the greatest athlete in the world. If a basketball player improves his free throw dramatically improves his shooting percentage do you think he's on steroids also? And as far as claiming Pacquiao is on steroids because of his high ko percentage at welterweight. He's only had 3 fights at welterweight so of coures it's gonna be high. De La Hoya quit on his stool so technically he wasn't ko'd. And if Manny is a monster on steroids as you claim he shouldn't put Clottey on his ass. Just because Floyd chooses not to finish fighters off doesn't mean that someone who does is on steroids.
Typical Mayweather. Wants to make fights with fighters no longer at their peak. All they ever said before was Pacquiao was on steroids now all of a sudden they want to fight him after he gets knocked out.
Easy fight for Mayweather. if there was any legitimate threat this would be another fighter Floyd avoids. Guerrero has no defense whatsoever. Another Victor Ortiz. Looks tough but doesn't really stand a chance.
Joe Calzaghe is one of the most overrated fighters ever. He fought a sheltered career in Europe and his two big wins come against legends in their 40's. About a good 10 years past their prime. I don't understand how people can call him one of the top fighters of our era.
Of course Canelo might still fight Cotto. Do you think these promoters that are ruining boxing would actually have him fight someone who might beat him like Trout.
All these European fighters are overrated and that's why none of them want to fight outside their home country. Because they get exposed when they do. AA beating Miranda doesn't say much and Froch beating Taylor doesn't say much either. When they face true talent outside of their home countries they don't have the home cooking and they get exposed.
When they were forced to rewrap Trinidads left hand it was discovered that he also had a hardening substance on it. The truth is Trinidad made a lot of money for a lot of people and was hugely popular so no one was going to tell him anything.
What Max was basically saying is that if Cotto chose not to fight the tough opponents he would still be a draw because of his name alone. He didn't say he shouldn't fight them.
"Antonio- This is a horrible undercard.
It's a pretty sick trend for big fights. I'm tired of it."
You are 100% correct. This is a terrible trend and it's part of the reason people are flocking to UFC instead of boxing.
Yeah Margarito did cheat and he should be banned for life in my opinion, but what I don't get is that why wasn't anyone ever disgusted with Felix Trinidad for doing the same thing. Trinidad was caught doing the same thing before the Hopkins fight and no one ever gave him a hard time about it. He straight got caught cheating. Why wasn't he ever suspended.
Calzaghe is one of the most overrated boxers ever. He fought his entire sheltered career in his home country and his claim to fame is beating two aging legends in their 40's. He beat an other overrated fighter in Jeff Lacey who obviously got exposed by everyone else and just barely got a win over a limited fighter in Mikkel Kessler, which we all saw what a real talented fighter Andre Ward did to him. He won't comeback because he knows he truly can't hang in there with tough, talented, skilled fighters in their prime. Never could.
It's a shame that Funeka gets fined and suspended for trying to make weight and Guzman who weighed in 9 pounds over the limit will have another title fight. It's this kind of bull crap that is discrediting boxing.
Richard Abril poses a threat because of his reach at 135 and 140 has plenty of serious threats so they avoid any threats at all and move up to 147 and keep feeding Broner C level fighters. Just like Mayweather.
When major networks and boxing writers talk about steroids the way they are you know something was fishy. Only Marquez fans believe he wasn't juicing. Everyone else isn't as blind. Even a proud Mexican champion like Erik Morales thought Marquez was juiced up.
If anyone really paid attention they would know that the test that was conducted on Mosley on 24/7 before he was leaving to Vegas was a urine test not a blood test so it is possible that the blood testing stopped at 18 days before the fight.
I've noticed that everyone calls out Pacquiao but no one calls out Mayweather. I guess everyone thinks they can beat him until they get hit. Also why doesn't Williams ever call out any middleweights? He always seems to call out welterweights who he towers over. Why doesn't he call out guys his own size.
