That's some crazy irony there...though he died young, he is in a better place. I just pray for strength for his family and friends during these tough times.
Well, we all know that Jeff Lacy owned Robin Reid tonight. He came all the way across the pond, got disrespected by the hotel, by the promoters, by the referee, and got his head bashed in...he is definitely having "the best week EVER."(Thanks VH1)
This is a joke right?!?! You can't seriously think Margarito can beat Judah or Mayweather??? Nah, Margarito would be fighting either of these guys just for the money, because there is no way he would beat either of them.
I think Judah takes this one by KO late(10th round). Judah has his head on straight now, so he knows whats at stake. Mayweather will win maybed the 6 of the 10 rounds, but he will get caught by the power of Judah, adn when Zab sees that he has in on the brink, all the aggression from the interviews, phone calls, and all the other "trash talking," will resurface and Judah will vent his frustrations on Floyd...and it won't be a pretty sight. It will be a bloody bout for both fighters, but Zab wins out ultimately.
I don't know about any of you, but I know that when you are in a "business," and you decide to "take it to the streets," everything and everyone is fair game. It doesn't matter anymore. No promoters, no referees, no rules, and lastly, no RESPECT. I don't want to see either of these throw their careers, let along their lives away trying to live out this "beef." Both of them are accomplished pugilists, and ought to maintain their "killer instincts" until they are in the ring. Man. Zab is my favorite boxer, and Mayweather, Jr. is on top of the boxing(pound-for-pound) world right now. It would be real messed up for them to do something stupid and mess up their blessings.
Yeah, I know this is a "dream fantasy fight, but why??? Why would Mayweather risk getting his chin handed to him by a bigger, and similarly skilled fighter?? It is a mega fight, I know, and the money is great, but why??? Don't get hurt trying to be greedy. Not saying that he is afraid, or that he wouldn't stand a chance...just why? (I know that no one asked me but..) I personally don't want to see this fight.
I guess he wouldn't look impressive against an "unimpressive" opponent. If he is gauged by the abilities of his opponent, it would be hard to look all that good against someone who is committing every foul in the book. True, both of them were doing some dirty things, but Reid's tactics far outweighed Lacy's. But in the end, we all saw what happened.
Visualize if you will a rubber band, as you stretch it, there is resistance built up to make it go the other way.
I have kept track of boxing for years and noticed a frequency in fighter’s boxers records. A fighter gets a bunch of KO’s and then finally goes the distance. As the KO streak is stretched, resistance builds up and once opponent(s) go the distance, some of the resistance is relaxed (relax factor) and the KO’s can continue.
Calzaghes frequency is: 9-12-2-4-3-1 (KO stretches) his relax factor is: 1-1-3-2-1 (decisions)
Lacy frequency is: 8-2-2-1-2 relax factor is: 1-1-1-1
Many factors indicate a KO win for Calzaghe: His prior KO streak and subsequent relax factors (3 fights going the distance) and on a 1 fight KO streak and a step down number of KO’s in his KO streak (4-3-1) notice the “2” is missing from the sequence, this shows a strong proclivity that the existing KO streak is going to last at least 2 more KO’s. This along with a similar step-down in relax factor numbers (3-2-1) is usually followed by a upswing of KO wins. Calsaghes numbers are insurmountable; Lacy would be well advised to put off a fight with Calsaghe at least till Joe gets2 more fights out of the way.
Lacy’s numbers are quite easy to analyze: his frequency starts with 8, building resistance then settling into a 2-2-1-2 frequency, there is a strong proclivity for the next fight to go the distance or be a loss. You take Calzaghe’s relax factor numbers 1-1-3-2-1, and lacy’s relax factor numbers 1-1-1-1, subtract the smaller from the larger = 1-0-2-1-0, add them =4, divide by the number of digit spaces (1-0-2-1-0 is 5 spaces) if the answer is less than 1 then the fighter with more relax factor points will win. 4 divided by 5 = 0.8. Calzaghe has a higher relax factor to begin with, so this doesn’t bode well for Lacy.
Mathematically speaking Calzaghe wins by KO.
No disrespect dude, boxing is interesting, but you have way too much time on your hands!! You have worked up a ""unofficial" mathematical equation to calculate the KO/distance factor. This is crazy!!!
All I have to say abou this new "theorem," is I :dunno:
Seeing as though we had this post last night...
From 8/6/05:
Whoa, don't go jumping the gun. I know this is just fantasy, but the kid really just started and does not really belong in the Light Heavyweight division. Allow him to "conquer" the Super Middleweights first, then let him "reign" a bit, and then you may think about this kid stepping up. That's a whole 'nother level. Let the kid enjoy himself first before you throw him to the "wolves."
He is a "Super Middleweight," and aspires to be the Undisputed Champion at "168 lbs...explain to me again why he won't make the at the division that he wants to "conquer???"
You don't think he would want fight Mikkel Kessler(who is also undefeated) or Markus Beyer??? He could go after those two belts, WBA & WBC respectively. I think he should go ahead and unify the titles while he has a chance. Then maybe we can talk about moving up. I see at least 3 more fights for Lacy in the Super Middleweight division.
I can not just overlook these guys, especially since one of them is undefeated. I think Jeff will want to "conquer" this division. He is a "fighter's fighter," and he knows that the money will come. Maybe I am just "old school, but unification is still of some importance in this day and age. He currently holds the IBF and (lightly regarded) IBO. If he beats Calzaghe, that gives him the WBO...O.K., granted he will be the undisputed Super Middleweight Champ, but the WBC and WBA titles are highly regarded, and I think the kid wants those to add to his collection(Ring Magazine belt not withstanding). Like I said, he should think about unifying while he still can.
Oh, and no, he shouldn't face Taylor.
I'm sorry but Diego Corrales doesn't deserve to be on the top 10 p4p and I'm glad that he is not there. His chin can be compared to Wlad's. I liked their list overall except that I think Hopkins should be removed because he can't fight at any weight class higher and he knows that if he moves up to light heavyweight he will get beat just like he did to Roy Jones Jr. Jermaine Taylor being ranked so high is also a disgrace.
So, let me get this straight, in your opinion, the former undisputed middleweight champion shouldn't be ranked at all(huh?), and the current undisputed middleweight champ should be ranked lower  ...I don't understand your logic, but it is your opinion...Corrales shouldn't be there in your opinion, even though he is by far one of the hardest punchers in the game??? I don't get it...What does your Pound-for-pound ranking look like?? It must be exceptional, but, like I said, its your opinion.
sorry mike but these battles were more names above all.hearns hagler was a thriller while it lasted hearns sugar fight was good but untill the last rounds duran got killed in againts hearns.Like i said tysons dominance topped off with his crumble againts douglas. fights like husein arce castillo corales holyfield cooper were super action packed. Names in those fights didnt really matter.
I understand your point Brown, but if I was trying to convince/persuade someone to do/watch/perform something, I would try to give them the "essence" of the object from all aspects. I would show you the ups and the downs of the sport. Show them the fighters who dominated, those who flustered, those who were the most successful, some who were not...I won't just show them the good things about the sport, because, regardless of how much persuasion you are doing, and how often you show the good or greatness of something, a person is ultimately going to make up their OWN mind. I hope you see where I am coming from.
Here we go again. I hope the contract for this fight is established, because I would hate to see these guys go at it inthe streets. Someone please go to the site and get the info!
Let's go old school and show them the Ali-Frazier battles, then bring it to the 80's and show them Mike Tyson's dominance, and the Leonard-Hearns-Hagler-Duran battles, and just to put it in perspective, show them the Coralles-Castillo wars. If those fights don't get them hooked, somoething's wrong with them.
Don't tell me that Etienne has resorted to being a common criminal after headlining several boxing cards??? Is money really that tight? I need to find out where they are holding him and go down and visit him to see just where his head is at. That's a shame.
Let's see: first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, and two counts each of armed robbery and second-degree kidnapping....yeah, he will never see the light of day again.
WHY?? :?!:
This is really something. If this fight is established, it will probably weigh-in as one of the biggest "hyped," rivalries of all time. I can't wait. I still think Zab wins late by TKO(10th round), but this will be a bloody battle.
At the end of the day you cannot deny that Reid at his best beats the Reid of today more dominantly than Lacy did last night.
First of all, your statement does not make a bit of "logical" sense to begin with. "Reid at his best beats the Reid of today..."that's an assinine oxymoron. Any fighter can, albeit any person can say that they would do something better, or accomplish a greater feat when they are "at their best. Sir, I am not here to bash you, I just want you to make sense in your posts. Frankly, when it boils down to it, it doesn't matter if the Reid of yesterday or tomorrow or whenever, would have performed differently or more successfully in the ring with Jeff Lacy...what does matter though, is the Robin "Grim Reaper" Reid that walked into the ring at 10:18 p.m. EST with Jeff Lacy on August 6, 2005, and what matters more than that is what he did while he was in the ring "on that night." No excuse can erase an "L" from the middle section of his win-loss column.
Hey, you know I have to be pulling for Jeff Lacy to beat Calzaghe and unify the title. And plus, it would be great if Kessler and Beyer met, and then the winners of the latter tow matcges could meet up next year for a Super Unification Bout!!! That would be crazy!!! A battle of the big guns for Super Middleweight supremacy. I can't wait!!!
He was well-versed in martial arts, and just think, if he channeled the same energy and force to the sport of boxing...I say that he would have been a great featherweight-lightweight pugilist. He was well-disciplined, had a treacherous training/conditioning regimen, and (though we only saw it in the movies) he had a tenacity/mean streak that would rival any fighter today. If he had all of those attributes and made the switch to pugilism, he would have been fierce.
