Yeah agree, its pretty racist in itself to say that you have to beat a person of certain skin-colour to gain recognition. You beat the best on offer...skin colour / nationality has no bearing.
Id say you become a great by beating other great fighters that are around...regardless of skin colour or nationality.
In Pacquiao's case there isn't many 'slick, black fighters' around for Pacquiao to fight, thats not his fault and doesn't affect his accomplishments in anyway.
He hasn't faced a 'slick, black fighter' and probably never will if the Mayweather fight isn't made..he will still go down as a great though regardless.
Why hasnt Pacquiao been calling out the bigger fighters like Haye and instead hes been calling out smaller fighters like Mayweather?
In my opinion, until he fights Haye he will never be considered not only a ATG but even a average fighter.

isn't it your own fault for believing that though? lacy did get a gift decision over omar sheika and his best win was him clubbing robin reid into submission. the substance doesn't back up the hype and you should have realized that.
Yep, not doubt he is hes not a very good fighter, as was shown in the Calazghe fight, almost all British fans backed Calzaghe to win and knew he was the better fighter. But it was the Americans who was hyping him up to the high-heavens on these forums before the fight, but suddenly changed there stance to 'so what, hes a bum anyway' as soon as Calzaghe had won.
He's in a no-win situation, he loses its told y'ou Lacys a beast, and Calzaghes a hype-job', he wins and its ' so what Lacys a bum'. No matter what Calzaghe did there would always be an excuse at hand, regardless of what those people had said about the fight(s) before hand.
Calzaghe faces Lacy and were told Lacy is the new Tyson , hes gonna knock Calzaghe out. Calzaghe schools him and sudenly we are told Lacy is a bum.
Calzaghe beats Kessler and we are told Kessler is a Euro bum who has never faced anyone. Ward beats Kessler and suddenly thats a massive win against a great fighter for Ward.
Calzaghe faces Hopkins and we are told Hopkins will own him. Calzaghe wins, suddenly Hopkins is a shot old man.
Were told Calzaghe never would of faced Pavlik as he was too scared, as Pavlik is the new American white hope, Hopkins destroys Pavlik after losing to Calzaghe, suddenly Pavlik is a hype job.
Americans will always find excuses to pick away at Calzaghe.
its funny because ts is sooooooo happy that the brits have ONE fighter, while we have load here in the us..... u cant name a fighter in the history in the UK that can beat our best fighter now..... i can name countless americans that would beat the shit out of the greatest uk fighter, and that includes lennox lewis.
Britain is tiny compared to America, America has a giant population pool in comparison to Britain ,so therefor should have many more talented fighters.
Saying Britain should have an equal or better history of fighters is as stupid as saying something like a small country like Vietnam could compete with a big country like America in a war......oh wait a minute !

Calzaghe fans give him respect for the win over Hopkins as Hopkins was still dangerous, almost none think that the Jones win was a big deal. Most couldnt see the point in him taking the fight in the first place. Jones has been shot for along time now.
