That's just how boxing works.
When boxing first began WHITES dominated the sport.
African American fighters would have never been considered great had they never defeated a great WHITE fighter.
African Americans have pretty much dominated the sport dating back to the Jack Johnson era.
It is only right that if a fighter above lightweight wants to be considered one of the best of all times (or the best of all time) then he should have to beat a great African American fighter (if one exists in or near his weight class).
Joe Calzaghe did it. JC Chavez did it.
Now Pacquiao must do it. Pac had his chance to do it earlier this year, but he ducked Shane Mosley and fought Clottey instead.
Now he has a chance to do it with Mayweather but he won't take the STEROID tests.
If Paul Williams beats Martinez then he'll have a chance to fight Paul. I'm already anticipating the excuses from Team Pac. "He's too tall", "He doesn't have a big enough name", etc, etc...
I hope Pac proves me wrong and steps up to the plate. Only a few fighters have passed this challenge.
Mayweather has never fought a GREAT PRIME BLACK CHAMPION.. that means he cannot be great then, right?
Zab win was good but i wouldnt place it any higher then Pac's win over Ledwaba, and Corley and Ndou is in the same league as Clottey. Cept for Clottey will make anyone he fights look bad.
the only people who sit around and focus on skin color..are racist..simple and plain
Yeah agree, its pretty racist in itself to say that you have to beat a person of certain skin-colour to gain recognition. You beat the best on offer...skin colour / nationality has no bearing.
since when are black people some how special?
skin color doesn't matter.. i've seen plenty of blacks get their ass handed to them by none black fighters.
if you beat a hof, you beat a hof.. period.
black fighters aren't as dominant today since boxing has become more global. what is someone supposed to do? go extremely out of their way to fight a black fighter?
it's nonsense.
how is shane top 5 at 154??...oh yea great post
Those were the rankings. Go argue with the editor. It actually strengthens my point.
do you think he is top 5 at any weight class. because if not , that is just more proof , of how blacks dont dominate.
Anything else you want to point at??
African American is irrelevant in boxing world. only a few are recognized champion and most of them are not even rated in their respective divisions.
you have to go thru Manny to be great.
Id say you become a great by beating other great fighters that are around...regardless of skin colour or nationality.
In Pacquiao's case there isn't many 'slick, black fighters' around for Pacquiao to fight, thats not his fault and doesn't affect his accomplishments in anyway.
He hasn't faced a 'slick, black fighter' and probably never will if the Mayweather fight isn't made..he will still go down as a great though regardless.
shut up you bell end. you need to beat green and purple people from the sun. then they are great. honestly, i dont think iv read as much bull**** before.
Who told you blacks dominate the sport of boxing.
Im not trying to be racist here. But they just dont. They dominate basketball , football. But thats about it.

And B-hop and Shane are on their way out. And Floyd keeps taking vacations.
So I dont know where your claims come from.
