Does Manny Pacquiao have a claim for top 3 ATG?
If only considering boxing accomplishments and skills etc., yes he has a good argument. Critics go after some of his opponents, but none of them were critical before the fight took place. Oscar is a good example; everyone, including his countrymen, tried to talk him out of it or were afraid that he would get hurt. When the fight was first mentioned, it was looked upon as unrealistic. Just one year before, Oscar beat Floyd, that's according to Floyd's own father, Floyd Sr. After Pacquiao shut Oscar out and stopped him, then a 'closer examination' began. If you didn't call that fight a mismatch in favor of Pacquiao, and nobody did, then your opinion after the fight goes into the trash can. Any other criticism of this nature is the same. If you didn't bet your life savings on Pacquiao against his 'shot' opponents, then you're hindsight is null and void. I know what criteria was set for this post, but for the record, if you're talking about skills and ring accomplishments, then include character and considering the decent gentleman that Pacquiao is, then he's hands down the best possible ambassador for the sport as the greatest fighter P4P of all times. A better representative for the sport of boxing top to bottom,................there has never been.
I think Canelo has always been given more then he deserved. Erislandy Lara out boxed him badly but lost, even Cotto gave him a run but the scores were absurd. They were something like 118-110 across the board give or take, and I thought Cotto won or it could have been a draw. 10 rounds to 2 was ridiculous IMO. GGG definitely won the first fight somewhere between 7-5 and 8-4. The 2nd fight was closer, could have been a draw or one point either way. Clearly in the first fight Canelo stopped fighting for about 3 rounds, giving those rounds to GGG and he didn't dominate any other part of the fight so he couldn't have been ahead nor even in my book. The difference was clearly age. Canelo is in the sweet spot of his career, GGG is 37 now and maybe 80 to 85% of his best. At 30 GGG would have beaten Canelo easier, maybe stopped him.
Floyd paid Maidana 1.5 million$ so that he would agree to wear pillows instead of the gloves that he wore every other fight in his career. That's an embarrassing fact, and puts a big dent in Floyd's image and legacy.
Liston was the best heavyweight ever. He threw both fights with Ali. The mob 'influenced' him to lose both. He would have beaten Ali and Frazier on the same night.............'The Night Train',.....the baddest dude that ever laced up a pair,..........Charles 'Sonny' Liston. Even his name sounds tough.
If it happens,........Danny finally runs out of luck. He'll get beaten badly; a knockout or tko very early. Despite his record, Garcia is at the bottom of the ww list. There are 10 welterweights that will beat the crap out of Garcia. Danny and Angel know it.
Danny can't beat; Thurman, Porter, Bradley, Spence, Brook, Broner, Chaves, Mikey Garcia,Matthysse in a rematch, and khan may beat him in a rematch also.
The proof that Garcia can't beat those guys is that he hasn't fought an 'a' level guy yet. If angel thought Danny was as good as his record, why hasn't he put him in with a stud? He knows the deal,....Danny was getting beaten up by Khan, Herrera beat danny up all night, Peterson knocked Danny around in the late rounds and Matthysse was beating Danny until his eye closed up.
When Danny takes some shots he's in big trouble. He stiffens up and can't fight going backwards. Herrera was beating Danny steady and he had no answer. It was Danny's first fight in Puerto Rico, and the home fans were really fired up. At the end of the fight, you could hear some fans booing when Garcia got the decision. It was 8-4 or 9-3 for Herrera.
When Danny fought Lamont Peterson,....Lamont wouldn't throw punches for the first 8 or 9 rounds. He kept moving but threw very few punches. Then, in the 9th or 10th round, Peterson got brave and he was knocking Danny all over the ring. Danny got nervous and looked terrible instantly. He looked bad against Khan also. Angel was riding his ass between rounds, then Danny closed his eyes and Khan walked into a wild left hook. You could hear Khan's chin shatter like a chandelier.
Garcia is all smoke and mirrors. He's fought nobody, and lost to Herrera but was gifted the home town decision. Any of 10 guys that he finally steps up to fight will beat him easily.
Porter won easily. 2 or 3 big shots aren't enough to win rounds against a stiff jab, hard body punches and several head shots each round. Watch it again,......the first 6 or 7 rounds, Thurman was getting an ass whooping and he looked worried and bruised.
I was 9 years old listening to Liston/Clay on a huge radio in 1964. I can still hear the announcer saying that Clay was 'bobbing and weaving'. I didn't realize until much later that the fight was fixed;...... Liston threw the fight by request of the 'mob'.
Spence-Garcia after thoughts
I came away with the opposite opinion of the majority. I thought that despite losing Danny looked pretty good. I sensed that something wasn't right with Spence. It could be his own doubts due to the accident, combined with a 13 month layoff, but I felt it was more then that. He performed okay and got the win, but I wasn't as impressed as others seem to be. There were 3 or 4 rounds middle of the fight whereby Danny came forward and Spence let him take the lead. Spence hardly stood his ground and he let a few rounds go by just that way. I began to wonder if Danny wasn't going to win the fight.
After some rounds went by in that manner, Spence finally came out for a new round and went on offense right away, regaining some control after he let Danny move him around the ring for several rounds. Spence didn't let Brook nor Porter take and keep control at any time in their fights. He fired shots back and stubbornly held ground and control. I saw something different against Danny, even the look on his face wasn't right. After the fight he did a few minutes interview and he didn't sound right nor act right. I hope it's nothing, but I'm not so sure there isn't something lingering physically from the accident. I only had Spence winning 7-5 or 7-4-1 possibly.
Porter won, and it wasn't close. I had it 9-2-1. Everyone's impressed with Thurman's big shots, but Porter beat him almost every round.
Thurman said he landed at least one big shot that rocked Porter in every round. No you didn't Thurman. Thurman hurt Porter twice, maybe 3 times. Porter hit Thurman with some bombs also, and Porter landed a stiff jab all night. Porter beat him on the inside also. Think about it: Thurman didn't throw an effective jab all night. He rarely threw body punches either.
Basically, Thurman throws heavy punches with both hands. If they're not landing, he has nothing to fall back on. Porter has speed and he was in Thurman's face all night. Speed never has a bad night, Thurman had to respond to the speed and the inside game, and he didn't do enough.
pacquiao beat floydwith one hand
Roach didn't realize that Floyd would be cheating with the PED's and he didn't know that Floyd would make sure that Pacquiao didn't get the legal pain medicine he was suppose to be given. Those things make a difference, and compubox lying about the punch count wasn't expected either. The judges being paid to cheat is normal for Floyd, and he had the referee allow him to hold all night so that allows Floyd to survive. If he was forced to stop illegally holding all night, Pacquiao would have destroyed him. The same is true for Maidana, Cotto, Oscar and others. without holding and running, Floyd can't beat anyone. If that's not true, why does he hold 100 times or more in most fights? Why does he cheat by masking his PED usage with an illegal I.V.? Why does USADA and the las vegas boxing commission allow him to use an illegal I.V., knowing it's illegal and used to mask ped usage, but they did nothing about it. He wasn't fined nor suspended, nor did they take the illegal win away from him. The only possible reason that they did nothing is that they're paid by Floyd to let him do anything he wants. Otherwise, the vegas commission and USADA are worthless. they caught him cheating red handed, they did nothing about it, then they gave him an exemption 19 days after the fight. Pacquiao asked for a legal injection several days in advance, but they denied it one hour before the fight. I don't think they treated Pacquiao the same as they did Floyd. The las vegas official that denied Pacquiao's pain medication said they thought about it but decided it was too close to fight time and they worried that it may cause Pacquiao to injure himself if medicated. The lying prick was scheduled to give it to him at that time anyway, that's why he was there. Floyd showed up with his face all twisted and his mouth puckered up, his bighead filled with dope. He wasn't feeing any pain, and he knew Pacquiao was in pain. He had no courage to fight Pacquioao unless Pac was hurt. Then he fouled Pac all night, several times refused to let go of Pac's arm, twisting it to make the injury worse. Somehow he knew that Pac's shoulder was injured. Then he used his laces trying to cut Pacquiao. He wanted to get a quick stoppage on a cut to Pacquiao's face, because he was still scared to death during the fight. I've never seen a coward like Floyd use laces to cut his opponent, but Floyd is a real dirty dog

You're argument fails when you repeat every other idiots lie about Pacquiao and testing. He isn't afraid of needles at all, so the tattoo nonsense makes you dumb twice. The problem he has is what roughly 15 to 20 % of the population experience, according to physicians, when blood is taken. It makes him feel weak for a period after the test. He was tested the day before Morales#1 and said he felt very weak the entire fight. If that happened to any fighter he would look to comply with testing while an alternative and acceptable guideline could be established. You guys that slander Pacquiao follow the lies told by Floyd as if it was trendy or something. Floyd can be seen by anyone who wants to know the truth, in his dressing on 2 separate occasions snorting from 2 separate bottles, each held by a different assistant and just before entering the ring for a fight. In other words, how in the hell do you have the nerve to continue with the testing lie when Floyd is seen snorting on camera minutes before a fight not once but twice? Also, he was caught with an illegal I.V. the night before the Pac fight, then was granted an exemption 21 days AFTER the fight, in addition, Floyd pays USADA from his own pocket 10 times the going rate to ensure they are the official agency for testing because they hide dirty tests for Floyd, all of this including 2 videos showing Floyd snorting some powerful **** before fights, and Pac has been proven to be guilty of not a damn thing ever, yet Pac is the bad guy according to Floyd's follies and his loyally band of dummies.
