Why did everybody ridicule Byrd's 118-110 scorecard?
If Alvarez is so good and GGG is so bad, that's the dominant scorecard you would expect to see.
The other 5 judges saw almost no difference between the 2 fighters.
If that's the case either a prime Canelo is as much a hype job as GGG or a 35+ GGG was as least as good as Canelo.
But you can't have it both ways.
If it’s not that high why couldn’t Canelo beat him? And if you say he did, why was it so close?
Canelo is still getting better, and will likely continue getting better (barring injury) for the next 3-4 years.
Golovkin got as good as he got in Germany, and then that "Mexican style" nonsense and the cake opponents stunted his progression.
Beyond that, no one is saying that Golovkin is a bum; the Olympic silver medal and the work in Germany will let you know that there are skills there. He's simply not as good as folks want you to think.
As derisive as it was, Floyd was preaching gospel when he called Golovkin "straight up and down, with no special effects"
Why didnt GGG dominate Canelo or Jacobs in the the eyes of the judges?? seriously these are the only 2 names on his resume that really even matter
That's the point, genius, in the eyes of the judges neither guy dominated.
If you bash GGG you bash Alvarez too. since the fights were so close.
Why you talking about resumes, they faced each other 2X in the ring.
Resumes are helpful if the guys never fought, but if they fight each other twice, you're learning. way more watching the fight than a resume can ever tell you.
People like talking resumes because it's all opinion and they can BS, because you can't prove opinions one way or another.
Golovkin popped onto the US scene in 2012 with his HBO debut (some may have seen the Ouma fight, but highly unlikely); Golovkin didn't fight a real opponent, if we're being honest about it, until the Jacobs fight in 2016 in a 50/50 fight that he barely edged (some would argue the Brook fight just before, but a near pfp 147lb fighter jumping up two weights leaves it's own questions).
Daniel Geale (the weight have killed Geale by this point, but he was still legit), Kell Brook, Daniel Jacobs, Saul Alvarez (x2), and Derevyanchenko... ignore every other fight (maybe Murray, but that's pushing it).
You look at the quality fights, and a pattern emerges; blowout, close before the eye socket failed, close decision, close decisions, and a likely close decision for Derev as well (him showing that he's near even with Jacobs while blowing out Johnson sets him above C+/B- level for sure).
A similar thing for Canelo too; Trout, Mayweather, Lara, Cotto, Chavez Jr, Golovkin(x2), Jacobs .
Close but a good win, washed out, close but a good win, a good win, washout, close wins with a better win on the second fight, clear win.
Golovkin is showing his level late, and it's not all that high, tbh
If it’s not that high why couldn’t Canelo beat him? And if you say he did, why was it so close?
I can respect that.
My point was, after 2 close fights to bash GGG (or Canelo) as a hype job, you're bashing the other fighter as well.

Yeah, you're entitled to your opinion for sure. Especially if you rate G as one of his best wins. Because it really wasn't.
I said it before. IF you're going to criticize fighter opponent ages, then Joe Calslappy was a bum as was Macho Camacho. Because the majority of their key fights were against older guys. SO it's silly. A NAME is a name.
By that measure, nobody currently active has a better resume, period.
"A name is a name".
Never thought of it like that.
Seems like a slippery slope
but I'll give it some thought.
You see, I can do that too.
Two fights = 6 judges.
Out of the 6 judges:
ONE felt that Golovkin did enough to win the fight. And not by much.
The other FIVE felt that Golovin did not do enough to win the fight.
It's not about close vs. non-close. As Floyd is keen to say, "at the end of the day, whose hand was raised?" In the first fight, neither guy. Second fight, Canelo. That's all that matters here.
But we're also not talking just this opponent. The TOTALITY of resume makes Canelo higher than B+.
The only guy on Golovkin's resume that's even close to the guys on Canelo's resume is Jacobs - the one fight where you could have argued a draw (I had G winning by one round) - and the same Jacobs that Canelo beat UNANIMOUS.
SO by that logic, Golovkin is in no way in the A-level.
Maybe. But you're getting into opinions. IMO Alvarez best wins are GGG, Lara and Jacobs and two of those wins were controversial.
Cotto was small, faded and a joke as MW champ.
The only other win that was decent was Trout and he'a guy that has lost (5X) every time he's stepped up in class.
No other fighters he's beaten are special, just decent wins against B and C
fighters and old guys like Mosley.
Alvarez had 35 wins in Mexico, and that's against inferior competition.
I could go on, but like I say, it's just my opinion and it's a waste of energy to argue opinions.
Dude really...so you and I have never ever..ever..gotten into it in the past few months for you with sicipio and derranged and them over this nonsense? Really..ok...i'm just gonna let this go because I already am trying to avoid people in denial over ishhh they say on another thread. I'm walking my azz on over to left hook to get away from the bullshhh of this site again. It's gotten so bad the old heads don't even come on here anymore.
Believe me that place is way worse, and i know nsb is not the same of the past years

The first fight was a robbery. GGG outlanded Canelo significantly and Byrd's scorecard was so bad she was suspended - something that never happens except in extreme situations. It was a travesty.
The 2nd fight could have gone either way.
Thats not true, i've never been part of anything, in the past few weeks I've been red k to death just because I got a Canelo pic in my avatar and guess who is doing that... Yes Golovkin fanboys (btw I don't give a fúck about red k)

See that’s the thing you could have best argument in the world but since your fighters actual resume is hyped up and mediocre that means you have nothing but hopes and dreams! We deal in reality not mental deception.
Reality? You called a 13 year old pro "in development" shut the fk up..they dropped you on your head as a baby...this is the epitome of the deluded fan base. Immediately go for the other guys resume because you don't have a leg to stand on for the outlandish bullshh you put out there. Nobody has mentioned Golovkin's resume, nobody here has called Golovkin an all time great, hall of famer or anything but here you go...
GGG is taller but he was not heavier. They both weighted about 172 pounds on fight night. Canelo may be even heavier now than he was then. He won't fight a middleweight anymore and only wants to fight a light heavyweight. We may have seen the last of the 160 pound Canelo when he beat Jacobs.
When they fought..you clearly saw that GG was the naturally bigger man. Canelo didn’t look in top shape in his last fight. He could be struggling to make MW. Until he says that he is leaving MW, he’s still a MW.
Canelo is probably bigger than GGG now. He was entering the ring for SWW fights weighing around the same as GGG did at MW, and certainly walks around a lot heavier than GGG.
He’s still not the naturally bigger man doe.
Dude I have a thread link specifically waiting to throw at em should they reply with any crazy ishh where I am fighting the entire anti-golovkin brigade singlehandedly...they act like we have adhd or something....and we don't remember the outlandish nonsense we have to put up with.
