Williams, Berto, Bradley. Everybody wants Pacquiao but Arum is going the easy way out and feeding him Margarito and Cotto because they bring in more money. But it's all good, nobody says anything.
Didn't bother reading beyond this. "Nobody says anything" ... are you kidding? Arum/Pac are obviously getting a lot of heat for putting Margarito and Cotto at the top of the list, and rightfully so.
I'm a big Pacquiao fan, but it's amazing that I even bothered to watch the guy's second point after listening to his awful first point. The idea that either fighter is "afraid" of the other is ridiculous.
No way will Khan face marcos maidana,
Just more spin from team Khan
In the GBP interview with DLH and Schaefer, they mentioned that they wanted Khan to fight Marquez, but that Roach and Khan were pushing for either Maidana or Katsidis.
floyd compromised more than pac back in december and pac still walked. so how is it both of their faults?
at some point in time, fingers have to be pointed at the guy who actaully walked away. especially when pac is now wanted to accept the terms he orginally walked away from that are no longer on the table, might i add
saying its "both of their faults" is a copout
this time around, floyd holds all the cards, he doesnt have to compromise.
The post that you're responding to was making reference to someone's point that the defamation lawsuit is both of their fault ... i.e. Floyd and company for making statements, and Pac for filing the suit.
let's say Batista starts boxing
in what round would he KO wlad if he were to land a CLEAN shot?
Batista looks jacked, i think he might be juicing though
You're delusional if you think Batista has a shot at winning that fight. If I'm misinterpreting the question, and you actually are asking who has the stronger physique if their boxing skills were even, then it's a toss up ... but you could really say that about any big guy in the world. And yeah, he's definitely juicing.
And just to add, I'm pretty sure that no religious fighters (at least those who are even remotely good) believe that they can succeed without hard work.
If Ward or any other boxer believes god has a hand in their victory then its actually pretty amusing. Modern religion is really about what people want and if they get it then its thanks to god.
I'm actually a practicing Muslim, but I would think that most people would use the opposite argument. For example, if something bad happens to someone who's religious, they might say, "Well, everything happens for a reason. Maybe God wanted me to learn from this experience." Similarly, for people who live difficult lives, religion comforts them by telling them that the afterlife may be better. People who have everything they want/need in life are more likely to let religion fall to the back-burner, I think.
On topic, I don't have a problem with fighters praying in their corner or thanking God. It's actually kind of humbling to see boxers, some of whom are extremely cocky, "admit" that they couldn't have won without God.
If they were 100% reliable, then I could see this working ... but since they're not, it would just end up being another thing for people to debate endlessly about.
I'd hardly use the word "EXPOSED" here. This took place a long time ago and has been discussed to death.
Also, the guy who made the video state conjecture as though it were fact. E.g. the video says that Roach put the weight stipulation into the contract for their second fight with the intention of weight-draining Morales. It's possible, but the whole video is ultimately just some guy's theory.
Bradley vs. Khan would make a great fight, imo, but Khan needs to fight a big puncher in his next fight to credibly convince people that he is a good, well-rounded fighter ... otherwise, his chin will continue to remain a question.
And I agree with the sentiments of a lot of people here. I'm a Khan fan, but to hear "talk is cheap" coming from his mouth, especially since it's taking literally forever to set up a fight with Maidana, is just laughable.
Finally! An interview with him speaking his own language. Everytime Manny speaks in English, the words that come out are:
- That's my promoters job
- Thank you God for descision
- I just try hard and give the people a good fight
- I just concentrate on training
- I'm not thinking about the knock out. If it comes, it comes. I just want to give a good fight for the people and make them happy.
- It's good for boxing
LOL, I got a good laugh out of this post. So true...
I don't want to sound like an *******, but that article should really explain who 'Daws' is before quoting him. It would certainly help if a first name was given so at least readers could research for themselves.
Agreed 100%. This site (and boxing news sites in general) need to really catch up with the rest of the journalism world. Like you said, they don't explain who Daws is, and the fact that they don't give a first name makes it difficult to look the guy up.
Other things that this site frequently does:
- They don't always put the author's name
- Spelling and grammer mistakes
- They usually don't mention when a quote is translated, and who it was translated by
- The context of a boxer's quotes is rarely given. Was it part of an interview? A press release? Etc.
- They form news stories entirely on speculation
I could go on and on. Despite all of this, I still come to the site because they update frequently ... but if it weren't for that, I would be happy to get all of my news from badlefthook.com (which I am in no way affiliated with).
Well,I hope this happens. It is hard to tell.Everything about this reeks of gimmick and plots. With any luck,we should find out soon what is going on...
Exactly, I'm tempted to think that the deal has already been made for a while, and that this is all just marketing. Now that the World Cup and Lebron James' decision are over, I think the timing is perfect to come out with a big announcement.
I feel like I'm the only one who is actually pretty pumped to see Clottey's next outing. He is clearly a talented boxer, but was just out of sorts in his fight against Pacquiao. It's clear that he's aware of his mistake and I'm pretty sure he'll overcompensate in his next fight by playing an aggressive game.
Any one who cares about a fighter winning negotiations, PPV revenue split or any of that other shít, really is a fúcking loser.
Do you see any of this money which either Pac or Floyd earns? Do you fúck, so why should you care. I'm not a big advocate of "debating about who would win a fight", but at least that makes some sense and is something worth discussing, once.
I'm a boxing fan, I want to see Floyd v Pacman....I'm not even too bothered about who wins....I wanna see the fight. I couldn't give a rats arse about who gets the most money. It's completely irrelevant to those who don't have some sort of financial gain from the negotiations.
Right on, I agree 100%. Some people here make it sound like they'd rather not see the fight if the money isn't being distributed a certain way ... which makes NO sense.
With all the criticism that JCC Jr. takes for fighting bums, you have to at least admire him for wanting to step up the competition. But yeah, Cotto would annihilate him.
this guy makes no sense at all. he scored alexander-kotelnik and calzaghe-hopkins for the 2 guys throwing air punches not for the guys doing the most damage. now he's saying the opposite? he's even said multiple times he scores rounds for guys coming forward and being busy. no consistency at all.
if you are gonna ignore the rules of judging and make up your own rules at least stick with them. don't use the official rules sometimes and then your own rules other times depending on which fighter you like more. you just look totally disingenuous.
Agreed, came into this thread to say the exact same thing.
I bet Arum gives his waiters at restaurants a deadline,
"you see this timer here sport, you have 10 minutes to serve everything on this menu..."
LOL, waiting 2+ weeks for a contract to be signed is hardly equivalent to waiting 10 minutes at a restaurant. It's more like waiting 2 hours for your meal ... eventually anyone would walk out, even if they don't explicitly give their waiter a deadline.
That's one reason the US is breaking apart -- immigrants used to make the effort to learn English; they were ashamed to not know the official language.
Now the government caters to people who don't even try to learn the language.
It's hard to feel like a part of the culture if you don't even speak the official language.
Printing government documents in different languages makes complete sense. People aren't just going to arrive in the US and immediately know English. Not to mention that the "millions" you quote is nothing when it comes to the federal government's budget. I'd hardly call it a "reason the US is breaking apart".
No shit. Bob putting a deadline on aguy with an ego like Floyd was dumb as hell.
Haha, I can't believe comments like this are still being made. We all know and agree that Arum is shady and conniving, but if you're trying to make a business deal, you have to draw at deadline somewhere. Would you rather the whole boxing industry just sit still until Floyd decided that he wanted a fight?
Spend time with his family? What a bitch.:nonono:
LMAO, I literally LOL'd at this.
I'm more a Pac fan than a Floyd fan, but I'm guessing that the situation is more complicated than Floyd is letting on. I can't see how Roger Mayweather's situation wouldn't have an impact on his willingness/ability to fight later this year. With that said, he definitely should have broken his silence because most people are going to jump to the conclusion that he's chicken ... he's gonna feel a lot of backlash. LOL, and to think back to all the flomos that kept getting on Pacquiao's camp's case about breaking the gag order...
STFU!!! you are reaching...if manny pacquiao lost his arms and i asked him for a boxing fight and he said no i have no arms...would i be a b*tch for asking or would i look like i really wanted to fight manny? this guy called him out because he was injured idiot. it wasnt like he didnt know maidana was injured and called him out...khan dont want to fight, he a b*tch!
Your response to a guy who said "Read the bloody article!" is basically further proof that you didn't read the article. You all seem to have read an imaginary article that looks something like this:
"Despite Maidana's injury, Khan challenged him to a fight on July 31st!"
...when, in fact, the real article is closer to this:
"Khan was hoping to fight Maidana next, but due to Maidana's injury, that fight can't happen yet."
As someone already posted, the article title is misleading.
I have zero desire to watch Khan vs. Prescott. Prescott hasn't done much noteworthy since the fight whereas Khan picked up a new trainer and has beaten far better opponents. Wanting Khan to avenge his loss against Prescott is like wanting Pacquiao to avenge his loss against Medgoen Singsurat. It's just pointless at this point in time.
I can't believe Bradley's name hasn't come up in this thread yet. I'll be disappointed if that fight isn't made next, considering all the talk that's been coming out of both fighters about that fight.
I think this would be a great next fight for both fighters. I don't know why everyone's trash-talking Lara on here -- just after his fight with Paul Williams, everyone here was bigging him up as a serious contender at LMW. Seems like people already forgot.
After last night's fight with Kirkland, I'd have to take Kirkland on this.
