World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman disagrees with Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez, who believe Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs) is a finished fighter and no longer a challenging contender. The two Mexican champions do not agree with Mosley's selection as the next opponent for WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) - on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In the opinion of Sulaiman, Molsey is still a dangerous veteran and the perfect opponent to take Canelo to the next level. But if Mosley wins, Sulaiman says the victory will push him forward to another big opportunity as the new WBC champion.

"I think it's a great opportunity for Canelo to beat a man who has been a star for 15 years, and an opportunity to show [his skills to] the world, although Mosley is at the end of his career," said Sulaiman.

"Mosley is an icon, one of the greats of our recent era. He faced the best and beat many of the best, including two wins over Oscar de la Hoya. There is always danger in boxing and especially when you talk about a quality fighter like Mosley. It is not an easy fight. It's a great opportunity for both, if Mosley defeats Canelo, [then he's right back as champion], but if Canelo defeats Mosley, it makes a clear demonstration that he's heading to the big leagues."
