Initially I had thought the same.
However, considering what his mental condition should be right now with his family still in Ukraine, the last thing he needed was getting some more hard shots before going back home.
Plus, having used a x2, thanks to the last-minute TKO I earned 60 points rather than only 40 :lol1:
I think I had a late stoppage too so I'm not too upset. Postol deserved better tho.
Horrible take by OP.
First, some posters have already made it clear that it's a catchweight Canelo either suggested outright or agreed to enthusiastically.
Second, it was only 1.5 pound difference from his last fight. Proof it was a drain issue would be if we saw Canelo change weightclasses immediately after...but that's not what happened. Instead, his next 6 fights were all within 2 to 3 pounds of what he weighed against Floyd, ending with him making 154 OVER THREE YEARS LATER.
Third, we conveniently forget Canelo's own use of catchweights, the first of which occurred BEFORE the fight with Mayweather when he won the 154 lb title against Hatton. He than invented his own weightclass derisively called "Caneloweight", which was clearly both a lack of discipline AND an ego trip since he proved he could make weight against Liam. And, of course, his fight against Chavez Jr was a catchweight that severely hampered JCC Jr.
If anyone's legacy is tarnished by catchweights, the OP may want to take a look at Saul instead.
Floyd, and it's not really a debate.
Floyd boatraced EVERY opponent he faced- even if it took a rematch to do it.
Canelo has had plenty of close controversial fights that some folks think he actually lost and even had plenty of doubters in the one rematch he did.
But worst of all, Canelo really does the kind of cherrypcherrypicking that Floyd was unjustly accused of. You look at Floyd's resume and it's full of guys coming in off of knocking someone else out or off career performances. You look at Canelo's resume and there are too many guys coming off of losses or bad outings.
But, it'll be moot in a year or so. My prediction is in the next 2 or 3 Canelo fights, one of the cherrypicks will go horribly wrong- from Canelo's point of view of course.
Oh well, I done fell for 4 or 5 pyramid schemes already- my garage is now filled with eucalyptus oil and plastic toy hammers- so I guess this couldn't be any worse...
- - It's OK U like sissyboys in today's era, but Canelo a throwback fighter not breaking into tears squallin' fer his daddy in between retirements to keep from fighting Manny.
Lol!
It's well established by facts that the guys avoiding the fight for years were Arum and Pac.
