You know, the actual weight limit of the weight class. Even though Canelo was only 23, it still would be a huge win for Floyd.
Instead, Floyd proves all his doubters right, and drains young Canelo to 152. Nelo was a walking zombie and nearly fell over from the first jab he threw.
Floyd had his shot at true greatness, but blew it with a weasel catch-weight move.
He proved that all the hate and doubt he got his whole career, was well-deserved.
Idiots will say Nelo asked for the catchweight (LOL), or that 2lbs don't matter. But even if that's true, why didn't Floyd insist on 154, since he spent years criticizing catch-weights?
Horrible take by OP.
First, some posters have already made it clear that it's a catchweight Canelo either suggested outright or agreed to enthusiastically.
Second, it was only 1.5 pound difference from his last fight. Proof it was a drain issue would be if we saw Canelo change weightclasses immediately after...but that's not what happened. Instead, his next 6 fights were all within 2 to 3 pounds of what he weighed against Floyd, ending with him making 154 OVER THREE YEARS LATER.
Third, we conveniently forget Canelo's own use of catchweights, the first of which occurred BEFORE the fight with Mayweather when he won the 154 lb title against Hatton. He than invented his own weightclass derisively called "Caneloweight", which was clearly both a lack of discipline AND an ego trip since he proved he could make weight against Liam. And, of course, his fight against Chavez Jr was a catchweight that severely hampered JCC Jr.
If anyone's legacy is tarnished by catchweights, the OP may want to take a look at Saul instead.
First: the facts completely shut down the version of “facts” coming from the Mayweather mommies.
Second: Prime Golovkin kept Canelo at 154/155. Reclaiming a 154 title against Smith, did not require Canelo at his best.
Third: That the abused, himself became an abuser, changes not a thing concerning the 152 catchweight fight 9/14/13.
It would had not mattered if he met him at the full 154, they would had say and are saying already that Canelo was too green.
Also here in Boxingscene someone in Canelo camp said that they would take the Floyd fight at 152. They even said it in an interview that they saw that here on boxing scene and negotiated the fight. You can see that whole saga in one of those episodes to build up the fight.
I rather the fight would had been at the correct weight to avoid nonsense because the catchweight only benefits the star in most cases but boxing is a business.
Stfu, we all know Floyd isn’t getting in the ring with Canelo weighing 154 bro.
Can’t stand the stupid asses in here, damn.
Sour grapes! Floyd easily beat your hero and it wasn’t because of 2 lbs. Stupid asses? Mirror for you.
Yes totally green with 42 pro fights almost as many as Floyd had at the time. The only difference now is his opposition has gotten weaker, even still a nobody like Plant gave him a competitive fight. Floyd even today probably still beats him
How many of them were world champions or had recognizable names? By then most of them were old like Shane Mosley or Carlos Baldomir.
Mayweather had more championship bouts when they fought each other hence why the greater experience.
Mayweather even states in this interview that "EXPERIENCE" played a major key in their fight.

The cw is what it is, which means it will never be deemed a great win, great performance maybe!
so should have been a rematch from Floyd whose fans say Floyd wins 10 out of 10 times if they fought. The fact there was no rematch makes Floyd s win even less credible
Pac should have rematched Horn :lol1:
Floyd beating a 152 drained Canelo is the equivalent of Torrecampo beating a young weight drained Pacquiao
Maybe a bloated old man would be just the version of May Nelo needed ?

He weighed in at 153.5 only 6 months earlier vs Trout, yet the delusional Canelo fan boys now pretending he was weight drained and couldn't make 154 anymore. LOL. It seems you actually believe that crap. Anyone who saw the fight knows that weight had zero to do with the result. He was simply far too slow and one dimensional and totally OUTCLASSED.
They keep bringing up the weigh issue like it's a problem.. remember it was Canelo's camp that said they would fight Mayweather at 152 lbs.
Also Canelo came in at fight night around 160+
Mayweather beat a young and inexperienced Nelo at the time - look at how Canelo fights now compared to when he did versus Mayweather... he was totally green.

Canelo couldn't even make 154 anymore (he started fighting at 155 right after Floyd), more less a bs catchweight of 152

Like I said, you clearly got breast-fed by your Dad, which explains your anger/behavioral issues.
That wasn’t milk, buddy. Just sayin.
You're a white boy who thinks hes hard but probably has never had a street fight or a boxing match nor sparring session before... probably too much of a b!tch for hands.
I bet you're the type to use a gun if someone brang the fight to you.
Keep talking trash white boy, maybe one day you'll have courage to do something...
Pu$$y
You’re another idiot who got breastfed by his Dad lol.
You're a c0ck sucking white boy who thinks he can fight and is a wigger like your Uncle Caleb Plant.
Thing is, you're uglier and probably more fat in person. Go write articles and talk boxing like you think you know it like Dan Rafael. You've probably never laced up a glove in your life ever or stepped into a boxing ring.
Pussy.
You dumb idiot. It was Canelo's camp that offered the fight at 152 lbs.
Don't believe me? Go watch the 24/7 All Access on Mayweather-Canelo (I forgot what Episode) or search through here for an article that it was his camp that wanted a fight at 152.

Of course fight fans would fights without *'s
Without them *'s, some fights would never happen.
As we see, the terms were accepted.
A guy can always turn it down (Cotto turned down a Pac rematch because Pac wanted another *).
Honestly, I would rather not see the fight then have a tainted fight with a catchweight.
It ruins it for me.
If Canelo beat Beterbiev with a catchweight would he get credit? Hell no.
If Canelo beat Usyk with a catchweight would he get credit? Probably not.
Do I give credit to Pacquaio for beating Cotto at a 145 lb catchweight? NOPE
Do I give Floyd credit for beating Canelo with a catchweight? NOPE

Canelo was 172 for Trout, a full 7 pounds more than against Floyd.
The irony of a douche called “just the facts” spitting out lies LMAO
Never let some facts ruin a good story but let me state some anyway. Team Canelo signed onto 152 without even trying to negotiate. That means they thought it was no big deal. The fight previous to Floyd (Trout), Canelo came in at 153 1/2 so that mean only a mere pound and a half lighter. Draw from it what you want but I think Floyd was just the better fighter that night and all these 2 lb arguments are sour grapes by losers. I’ve never even heard Canelo try to use it for an excuse.
nonsense...
when the (fight) negotiations started, they wanted me to go to 147. I said that's physically impossible. I couldn't do it. Then they inched up to 150. I said I can't do it, that's impossible. Those days are over. I can't make that weight anymore, I've grown.
"Then they went up to 151. And then finally, so we could make the fight, I said, 'If anything, I'll give up two pounds. I'll go up to 152. I agreed to that. Then they tried to force me to be quiet and not to mention anything that they came up with the weight of 152.
