Herreras one of my favorite boxers, but sadly he will continue to be used as a stepping stone for young guns. I have a feeling he will be one of those guys whos body will end up taking a toll and he will get throughly beat by some youngster one day and everyone will say he was never that good and then his controversial losses will all of a sudden be great wins by his past opponents.
It would be nice if Herrera got a good strength and conditioning coach, I think he'd benefit by picking ups some weights and fighting a boxer or 2 he could KO for some power confidence. Volume punchers with little power have it rough in the sport of boxing.
Very sad but likely true. Still one of my favorite boxers right though.
I don't know about the source but of course they will rematch. Mayweather's not going to go from doing 4.4M PPV buys to under 1M and vice versa. May-Pac 2 is the perfect way to headline the new MGM arena.
he's like a new paulie malignaggi.
not much pop but has some name recog and good enough to beat non elite guys.
Basically, I'd put him a little bit ahead of Malignaggi though. But I like this comp.
Very interesting scorecards, I had Canelo winning easy but damn.....
Lol, so when Mayweather potshots it's a clear victory for him. When Cotto does it, t's a clear lost? Lol....boxing.
Mayweather lands clean, hard, better punches while taking very little.
Cotto was landing little shots here and there while taking big shots in return.
He took some shots, but he controlled the fight imo. I wouldn't say there was a difference in the type of shots Mayweather lands in the fight tonight for Cotto. I thought he edged it 7-5, but whatever. Canelo wasn't nearly active enough for the victory tonight.
He's right about Herrera if he had won both his fights this year he'd be a possible candidate for FOTY
I feel really bad for Herrera. He deserves better.
Herrera dominated Danny. Scored it 8-4 on two watches giving Danny the benefit of the doubt on a toss up round because he was 'the champ'.
There's absolutely no way garcia can be considered the legit winner, yet he was gifted the decision. That = robbery
I couldn't agree more. I don't know how anyone could score that fight for Garcia unless they were just being completely bias.
I'm pretty sure some type of the under the table agreement was made with Arum/Pac and Floyd. That fight was a farce. A lot of people say Floyd boxed masterfully, but he played that fight way safer than usual, and I don't even know what in the world Pacman was doing. I know Floyd is all defense and a superb boxer but to "neutralize" another ATG like that? Puuuhlease. The one thing we know about Pacquiao is that he's going to go out swinging. And Floyd's style can compete with any style, he would've been prepared regardless. The whole fight was a scam for them two to get paid and ride off in the sunset.
Last time I checked, Pacquiao wasn't spanked he was outpointed to a UD. He's still head and shoulders above most opposition out there...so Pac vs Berto would be a disgrace of a fight. But if it's free, then it's whatever to me.
Arum could easily rig the scorecards to make the Mayweather fight happen. I think Pacquiao desperately needs an early KO in this fight, and I'm not so sure he's capable of doing that.
I can see this fight going two ways:
Pacquaio dominates Algieri through 12 - Algieri wins via SD
A close fight between the two - Algieri wins via SD
Only way I see Pacman winning is by K.O. This fight was made a for a reason. It has robbery written all over it.....but who knows maybe Algieri runs all night and pot shots and eeks out a win.
7-5 Maidana, I could possibly see a draw, but Maidana won that fight.
It's pretty laughable that you some of you are giving Floyd the last 6 rounds. I was for sure that Maidana wouldn't be able to keep up the pace, but he was conditioned and fought all 12 rounds. I think a lot of you just convinced yourselves he was faded and gave Floyd the rounds. Like, how in the world do you score round 12 for Mayweather? Makes no sense at all.
I feel like most people just throw out Maidana's work to the body out the window. He kept Mayweather on the ropes majority of the fight. You can duck and dodge all you want, but you can't potshot and throw a couple jabs to the body and win the round. I thought the compubox stats were ****, and Maidana's defense was above average in this fight. If you watch again, you'll see Mayweather was missing a lot too.
I don't blame him for blocking their press passes. If you have a problem against the dude why would you want to watch the fight anyway? So let's say your job wants you there, well if you're blocked, it's nothing they can do about that....but nah you'd rather whine on Twitter instead to gather enough attention for your credentials to be passed. B**** please.
I thought he won against Lamont Peterson which was in 2011. I know he had some point deductions from pushing, but even w/ that I had him winning. He does need to step up the competition again though, I'd like to see him face Danny again.
