His last good win was Zab Judah and he was past prime..but it was a unification bout..but since then honestly what has he done to still be a top fighter?
The peterson robbery, then the cancelation of the rematch because he was roiding followed by devestating knockout loss to Garcia majorly set him back. Realise he is rebuilding his confidence after that along with a new trainer who is teaching khan to implement a new style, give him time. Some fighters are never the same after setbacks like ortiz, berto etc so its wise to be cautious. The diaz fight was decent at the time considering Diaz in accordance to most people beat Porter the first time. The knockdown in that fight was tangle of feet, he wasn't hurt at all. I think he has come back really well and was exceptional against Collazo who is a legitimate big solid WW who came of a brutal ko of ortiz.
Mayweather fought Ortiz in September. Martinez fought Barker in October. Pacquaio fought Marquez in November. I'm pretty sure they could have fought each other instead.
Even the Khan/Maidana poll was embarrassing. Neither of them deserved the fight yet Mayweather forces people to accept this.
Pacquaio was signed to fight Mosley.
Not sure on Martinez.
Ortiz clearly made a lot of sense to make at the time.
I honestly want this fight to happen already so we can stop having threads like this one and the other one claiming he's earned it. I don't even care if he's earned it or not, just make it happen already.
Khan hasn't beat a name worth bragging about in over 3 years. Amirs young but if you look at his resume as a whole it really doesn't amount to sh..it. Barrera was shot. Malignaggi & Zab are decent names. Kotelink is marginal , His win against Maidana he barely survived To get the W. He built up such a lead in the first 4 rds with that perfect body shot and Maidana point deduction then proceeded to get absolutly slaughtered in the 2nd half of the fight holding on for dear life.
The thing is Khan has a recognizable celebrity name with in boxing so he'll be given every opportunity to get a big fight. Even with 3 years of losing and wins over lower level opponets.
Pacquaio had a fight signed and I think Martinez did aswell.

It makes sense in the sense that Mayweather rules out or exhausts all other possible good options.
No Pacquiao, No Sergio Martinez. But you can have Ortiz or Guerrero.
He forces people into accepting mediocrity as making sense.
Neither of those 2 were available though when that fight was made.
the fuss is that Khan has done more in his career than Ortiz, Guerrero, Maidana and Algeiri. That's all....
Khan would literally attempt to run vs Guerrero, I would favor Guerrero if the two ever met, he would get in close and destroy Khan. I know some people will say Khan will outbox him but i consider Robert to have the better boxing IQ. The two should fight so everyone can realise the level of fighter Khan is.
The fight made sense though at the time.

Doubtful because when Maidana beat Broner, Floyd saw that as his perfect opportunity to pick another flatfooted brawler. Almost backfired.
that's why he picked maidana? oh, i see now. it had nothing to do with the fact that khan only fought once in 2013 and looked like shit doing it?
As if that mattered. He beat Andre Berto. The same Berto who most people had losing to Collazo :lol1:
Ortiz was picked because he was a slow flat footed mental midget.
It's cute that you actually think him having a title mattered.
The fight made sense though at the time.
When will Khan come off of a good win? Khan beat Judah 5 years after Floyd did when he was clearly past prime..are you serious?
Come on now, Khan is usually considered a very good fighter, and maybe that is because he has some nice wins and looked great with those nice wins. Wasn't khan favourite against Garcia because people thought khan was a very good fighter? Wasn't khan favourite against Paul Mallignagi?
So why isn't Floyd fighting this guy people think was pretty good? Yes its alright to say khan lost to Garcia now isn't it?
But its Garcia beating Khan, and not FLoyd, because Floyd don't and didn't want to get in the ring with Khan.
He took Bertos' 0 and his title...why wouldn't Floyd fight him....if Khan had fought and beat Alexander for the title he would have gotten a shot

You fancy a bit of that do you Lazza? :flirt:
Your boy beat Andre Berto. Andre "Paper Mashay Belt" Berto. That was literally his only win. Why is that so impressive to you?

and i only saw a handful of khan fans at the garcia vs khan fight in vegas
he is not as big a draw as he says or others might think he is
he is not very liked in UK because of his race and some say it is because of his personality but i think thats unfair - he is arrogant and ambitious - those are good traits for a fighter at the high level
Khan is a household name in the UK. He might not have a travelling contingent like Hatton but it is irrelevant because the vast majority of the Hatton fans didn't even get into the MGM which is where this fight is likely to be.
The money comes from the UK television.
Ortiz won a title in a fight if the year and was hot.....damn how hard is that to understand
