Nobody remember during his peak he fought FOUR times in a year and unified the SMW division which is completely unheard of.
Nobody comes close to that work ethic and discipline in these times.
*meant he had no shot, typo.
Nope just a bunch of fight fans that were following the lead up to the fight. Most thought GGG would easily just like the majority on this board did at the time.
GGG was seen as a monster that would be too much for the guy moving up in weight. He couldn’t get the job done and left it up to the judges. I guess people don’t remember the **** his trainer was saying during fight week. No one to blame but himself then he got sonned in the rematch and fought to lose a decision to cash that retirement check in the third fight.
This is absolutely correct i also recall the first time Nelo went up to 168 in his first fight he was criticized on here for fighting Rocky Field.
They said he would never face the "true" champion at 168 which at the time was the unbeaten Callum Smith.
You will realise if you been here long enough Nelo lives rent free in their heads
Im surprised if he is indeed broke it took this long his lifestyle was mentioned 10 years ago to be in excess of 1million per month.
Thats just his travelling entourage.
Charlo was a gimme so no real surprise there albeit fighting a fighter who has been inactive for 2 years is uh questionable.
Crawford makes zero sense you cant just add 20 pounds and be the same fighter he has never came close to fighting someone with Alvarez power.
Pretty disappointing 2024 if this eventuates.
I have a feeling that Canelo will be contradicting himself. He stated that Crawford is a lose-lose situation if he fights him because he is from 3 divisions below. But somehow Errol Spence somehow is a listed contender.
Canelo's fans would be defending his pretext that Bud debuted at lightweight and Errol Spence was always physically big for a welterweight (being in a division Canelo debuted at) similar to how Jermell Charlo was a natural middleweight.
If ain't Errol, then it's definitely Demetrius Andrade.
Have some common sense please its not Spence nor Andrade.
Nelo is obsessed with belts it will be someone from 175 or above.
Was that in the amateurs ?
I thought I read something like that
Apologies was not boxing but kickboxing.
Greatest Female Fighter vs. Male Fighter - YouTube
11 weeks to go, he has to announce it tomorrow surely to start promoting this trash. I'm going to laugh so hard if its Mall. Embaressing. Even canela fan boys hate that fight.
Its to soon to announce Mungia as a opponent as well so who is left?
1.Went out of his way to say GGG ducked him in a tweet and got shot down with facts by GGG on his Bday then GGG wished him a happy Bday after textually destroying him.
2. References to "certain fighters" when he is only half of a certain fighter, seems like he has issues in his late 30s with his own racial identity and not being white or black enough to be either.
3. Claims Canelo ducked him when they were two weight divisions apart at the time before Ward retired.
4. Ward, seems very envious of other fighters who became bigger stars than him, who people wanted to see more, and who made more money regardless of him being a great boxer with a fantastic resume.
5. Clings to this religious persona as some kind of clear cut way to have some identity of his own.
What a conflicted resentful man he appears to be now after his boxing career is over even though it really was a great career in just over 30 fights.
Probably because he made nowhere near as much money and fame as Fury, Canelo and Joshua are making these days.
He had a forgotten career so to speak and was certainly up there in ability with the prior 3 i mentioned.
Bivol. He's probably bigger than Bivol anyway. By the time he gets to the front of the queue at 168, 168 might not even be an option for him
Bivol lol gonna fade back into obscurity again.
How dumb of him not to play on Canelo ego and get a rematch with him.
I'm surprised it did so well...... While some folks thought it would bomb and do under 250k I surely thought it would do much worse than what is being reported. If the event had flopped, Ginger would have been forced to pick a big name as his next rival.
The amount of money this fight generated will only convince Ginger that his notion of him being the shot caller is accurate. Sucks for the fans that want to see him fight Benavidez or even Bud. I find it hard to believe that Turki will offer Ginger over 100 million to fight Bud or over 150 million to fight Benavidez.
I really dont have a issue with Nelo asking for that amount its one of the biggest fights in boxing today why not ask for that amount??
I'm of the opinion that a fighter is worth the amount of money they can receive. If it is true that Ginger was able to generate 650k PPV buys against Berlanga, I can't fault him for THINKING he should receive at least 100 million to fight Bud or Benavidez.
The reality of it is that Promoters and Networks are gonna wanna keep doing business with him. Like him or not, he's in a position to not need to be taking selfies with Turki to make $-hit loads of money...
Another reality is that we might not get to see him fight Benavidez nor Bud and yet he'll still make large amounts of money and he'll still keep his loyal fans happy.. Oh well, there's still plenty of good fights ahead that don't involve Ginger and I'll certainly enjoy watching them.
I tend to agree i still think it happens because there is to much money for it not to happen, Nelo is just milking it at this point but then i thought the same with Wilder vs Joshua stupid potential of money to be made yet Greed ensured it never happened.
Im hoping we get either Crawford or Benavidez for 2025 both would be wild i prefer Nelo to just swallow his pride and know 168 is his limit for a world title fight, Bivol rematch will be boring and similiar to the first fight unless Nelo was significantly hampered which he wasnt.
