I like this tournament idea. Not feeling the four rounders though.
This one is a 6 rounder. Are all the fights 6 or 4?
I think this tournament a great idea even if they don't have the names like the super 6. In a sport where it's hard to even put together one fight, you gotta give ESPN props for putting it together. 1st one is a good scrap so far.
I voted for the first because watching JMM come back from the knockdowns was a pretty awesome thing...but now that i think about it more, the 4th was the most memorable. The exchanges and the ending were great. And i was rooting for Pac! These guys have given great fights so how can you not respect or be fans of both?
Errol Spence..........
This guy looks unstoppable. Seen him fight live once. I think he's a stablemate of rashee warren?? Warren reminds me of Gary Russell. Anyways, kinda sad how a thread about the prospects of our sport can't get 10 replies but the thread about Floyd's ex gets almost 50 lol.
I think Khan could hurt and outpoint Broner if Broner tries to stand there and attempt to pick his shots off but i can't trust khan's chin. My boy julio freakin diaz had him on queer street. If broner catches him with a left hook I see him jumping on him and possibly ending it. Say what you want about Broner but he's still a step above Carlos Molina and Julio Diaz.
why hes garbage i cant wait for salido to expose Bob arums hype job!
Lol, really dude? Have you seen him fight? Loma is fun to watch. His skills are top notch even in the pro game. Only thing i worry about is his power against the best and his chin is unproven. Salido will make it interesting because he has no choice but to come forward and smother him.
I'm hyped for this fight. I'm a fan of both but Loma is gonna box his ears off as long as he doesn't have amir khan's chin.
Anybody know what size gloves they used in the WSB??? I think they used the amateur sized 10oz gloves instead the 8oz. Could help his power in the pro game.
I'll admit I didn't watch this video (at work) but I remember seeing a video of her going on long ass rant in her car a while back about the business of woman's boxing. She almost begging to be on money may PPV. Came off as weird & fvcking crazy.
My dad was a huge Chavez fan. He would take me to all the PPV's & he would record some of them as well. I specifically remember being around 7 or 8 when Chavez beat Randell & I won 60 bucks thinking I was the richest kid in the world :boxing: good times. Great thread!
I don't get it... It's going to be the same "style" meaning??
I'm pretty sure they mean same model & same brand of glove. He just can't use that particular pair.
The danny "swift" who got a gift against herrea? Yea I'll take manny in this one. Easy UD. Or possible TKO late with angel garica jumping into the ring. But then again, danny seems to have a lucky horseshoe stuck up his ass so you never know!
Im one of yall, still am, but come on, Floyd won that fight.
Chino shocked floyd early with his unabashed aggression and intent to end floyd but as the middle to late rounds came, Floyd as usual figured out Maidana and started ripping him with counters from straight gut shots, ripping him with straight rights, counter hooks, floyd landed the cleaner shots.
Maidana did well with his awkward aggression but a lot of his shots did not land and floyd was able to slip and block a lot of those punches. I had it 7 rounds to 5 for floyd. I wouldnt have a problem with anybody giving floyd 8-4. Anything farther would be a pro floyd homer score. Anything closer than 7-5 or worse if you actually think Maidana won that fight then you are just letting your hate for floyd blind you.
There are plenty of reasons for you to hate on Floyd like not letting Maidana wear commission approved gloves is just one of the biggest b*tch made moves i have ever seen in boxing. Typical floyd. It almost equals dictating what drug test your opponents should take.
BE A GOOD HATER. DONT BE A DISHONEST HATER. STOP GIVING HONEST HATERS LIKE MYSELF A BAD NAME.
Excellent post! Not a floyd fan but I'm not mad that floyd won. I thought he squeaked the win out imo. Close fight but Maidana was running out of gas near the end.
BUT the whole glove situation was some bull. Watching him holding on to Maidana while complaining to the ref was hilarious. Not to mention his whole "I'm the A-side" speech after the fight. He may have won the fight but he's losing the respect of boxing fans. Pretty sure he doesn't care though.
Great game my friend. Reminds of the baseball simulators i occasionally get addicted too. Really in depth game. You can even pick the ref and judges lol
how do you make purse bids everytime i try to bid on a fight for my show it never works doesnt matter what dates i pick and i have done everything it tells me to do. Anyone know what am doing wrong
Are you sure the belts you are bidding for represent the country you are fighting in? If the fight is in the USA then you have to bid on a USA belt.
So Floydhype are going to investigate to see if Arum is blocking the fight? I think we already know what the findings of that 'investigation' are going to be.:pat:
I wonder if they are going to run a concurrent ivestigation to see whether Al Haymon and floyd are blocking the fight($40mil offers to cotto etc.)? Hmmm...
Seriously! Mayweather is trying to win the PR war. He's seen that his self admitted cherry picking ways are coming back to bite him. His latest Showtime interview reeked of straight propaganda.
Cotto put himself in great position.
Definitely. He's not the fighter he used to be but he's still a big draw. I rather see cotto/canelo. That fights been brewing for a while. If they don't fight in May the tea will get cold. Get a decent undercard (or don't, most people will tune in anyways) & take my 70 dollars.
Just had a fight a couple of weeks ago. Won easily but his opponent wasn't anything special. Fight was at 150 so he's gonna be in that 154 picture pretty soon. Assuming his hands hold up.
Thanks! I'm about to listen lol. I got my information from the interview Mauricio gave on Golpe a Golpe which was very interesting for the Spanish speakers. It's on YouTube if anyone is interested.
:boxing:
Thanks for the video. A couple of things from it:
Standardization of Instant Replay
Standardization of drug test procedure.
Monitoring of weight 30 days, 7 days and 1 day before fight.
Establish maximum weight for day of fight.
Respecting each other’s suspensions.
And a tournament to crown a world champ.
I think these small things a good step in the right direction. We'd all prefer to have less sanctioning bodies but with the money they're making that aint gonna happen.
This is one of those fights that you don't want to see either guy lose. Both seem like very smart, very nice and genuine stand up guys. Also the loser of this is likely to face incredible criticism.
If Loma loses: "he was a bum, a hype job, he didn't earn anything, he sucks"
If Russell loses: "he beat up only cab drivers, as soon as he stepped up he lost"
Don't know who to root for in this one.
Exactly how i feel. I didn't wanna see this fight materialize because I'm a fan of both but as the bout gets closer, I excited to see how their styles will play out.
One thing tho....i liked the idea of Loma coming in quick and going for a championship, but he needs to slow down. It was pretty apparent in the Salido fight that he needs to learn the pro game. He got pushed around and bullied by Salido (who was overweight tho). That may not happen vs Russel but a tuneup or two to get adjusted would served his career better in the long term. (IMO)
Ortiz needs to hook up with ann wolf maybe she can turn him around. That's the trainer he needs. The only trainer I see that can do something with Ortiz mentally.
Ortiz wouldn't last a day with Wolfe lol. He doesn't deserve that kind of punishment
You are assuming that Garcia is the only one capable of doing that. Imagine Maidana with someone like Nacho, or Abel who could show him the very same things, even more technical.
This is the problem with rating trainers, you are as good as your current fighters. There was a time not to long ago when Roach was being called overrated, now he's once again one of the best in the game.
Reality is, Roach has always been a great trainer, it's just that Pac lost a few and therefore people were down on him.
Good post! Trainers are only as good as their fighters. The "you're only as good as you're last fight" line gets applied to trainers too. Sometimes unfairly. Shields, nacho, Richardson, roach & Diaz are all good trainers. Lol at chepo reynoso!
I'd say Danny is borderline top 10 but let's be real, beating Robert Guerrero isn't going to get him there. Robert looked washed up against Aaron freakin Martinez and he hasn't looked impressive since winning the Mayweather sweepstakes in 2013. Danny should fight porter, thurman, or even rematch peterson. You'd think these fights would be easy to make.
This site has to be the no 1 weirdest place on the internet.
Indeed. Most threads end up being PacFans vs MayFans or GGGfans vs WardFans. Anyways, I'm more of a lurker but i appreciate posters like Hougio, Eastcoast, Azztekkas (sp?), LoadedWraps, and LarryX (when he's not talking Mayweather). Freedom's cool too.
