Rooting for Lomachenko. Unfortunately I won't be able to watch this one because it's on the same night as Glory's Last Man Standing and it's Showtime not HBO. Damn, what a ****ty time in Boxing history to have a satellite provider who doesn't offer Showtime.
SMH, yeah it went over your head. It's a Showtime segment called "I am a fighter". He had to say it man. That's why it went over your head, you didn't see the part about "Cliché script" that I wrote which was a jab at the establishment. And the "LOL" which should have been a dead giveaway. You'll figure it out in a couple days.
This is one of those fights that you don't want to see either guy lose. Both seem like very smart, very nice and genuine stand up guys. Also the loser of this is likely to face incredible criticism.
If Loma loses: "he was a bum, a hype job, he didn't earn anything, he sucks"
If Russell loses: "he beat up only cab drivers, as soon as he stepped up he lost"
Don't know who to root for in this one.
Exactly how i feel. I didn't wanna see this fight materialize because I'm a fan of both but as the bout gets closer, I excited to see how their styles will play out.
One thing tho....i liked the idea of Loma coming in quick and going for a championship, but he needs to slow down. It was pretty apparent in the Salido fight that he needs to learn the pro game. He got pushed around and bullied by Salido (who was overweight tho). That may not happen vs Russel but a tuneup or two to get adjusted would served his career better in the long term. (IMO)
The point flew over your head. There is no reason a fighter has to quote they are a fighter, duh. People already know or would know before the end of the video. No need for a cliche scripted line at the end to state the obvious. Put up a vote and see how many people would not know before the last line that he was a fighter. Zero. He should tell people something they may or may not know like his status such as "I am Gary Russell, I have had X number of amateur fights, x number of pro fights and I am ranked #1 by the World Boxing Organization".

I could be wrong but I think Russell takes it against Lom for the following reasons. I think he is a little faster, smoother, and more powerful than Lom. But, every fight has a different set of dynamics and what seems like an edge on paper, may not be.
I'm gonna laugh my ass off if Russel beats Lomachenko. A fighter should not be getting 2 title shots in their first 2 fights. I don't care how good of an amateur they were. It's a slap in the face to all the fighters fighting for the top spot.
and it's going to be even funnier if Loma wins.
This is a great fight with two young prospects. Kind of a cross roads for both.
I'm guessing the point of that whole segment kinda went over your head. The point flew over your head. There is no reason a fighter has to quote they are a fighter, duh. He's gonna do it too. Russell is blazing fast and has been in enough pro fights to decision Loma.
Russell's speed should be a huge advantage in this fight, although Lomachenko can perhaps offset some of it with his height/reach edge.
Wouldn't surprise me to see a very cautious...one where neither fighter may be that active or effective.
But I have to favor Russell in this one.
Is it safe to say that Loma has a better resume with only 1 pro fight? :lol1:
Yup. Jose Ramirez is better than anybody Russell's faced. Going 12 with Salido and losing a close SD is better than anything Russell has accomplished.
Can't really hate on Loma, he's just doing what he's told. If someone had confidence in me to go in and beat a Champion in my 2nd and 3rd Pro fight I wouldnt say no either,
I think Russell get's his arse kicked and that's me hoping he does too, a fake champ who's fought cans to get to the top rather than someone who's gone "Fuck it, I might lose my 0 but I might win a championship belt" I know where my decision goes to.
Tough fight, but Loma doesn't have to be wary like he was when fighting a heavy, fouling Salido....I think he is going to be more comfortable fighting a technical fight with a fellow speedy fighter. Although GRJ has the greater amount of experience, Loma has the better experience, having fought much better competition in his two...depends what you'd rather have in your locker - the knowledge you can go to the deep end with a hard 12 rounds v a veteran champion and beat a decent contender, or the confidence from feasting on bums and being more used to the pro game, yet inexperience of the things you will experience in a title fight.
I have no idea of the method of victory, but I got Loma to beat 'T-Rex Arms' Russell.
Russell - "I am a fighter". Lets all be thankful he cleared up what his occupation was. Imagine if people didnt state the obvious? What a mystery everything would be, lol!! Someone needs to text him that Obama is a president and Brad Pitt is an actor. Valuable information he may be missing out on.
I'm guessing the point of that whole segment kinda went over your head.
The one fight I've ever seen of Russell Jr. where he was in against a world class opponent was an amateur fight from 2007, Vodopyanov. In that fight, he couldn't deal with a tall rangy southpaw who fought him from a distance. I'm not sure how much relevance a 7 year old fight has, but that's the only fight of his I know of where he was in against a top southpaw.
I love this fight. They're exactly the same but complete opposites, if that makes sense.
This is the 1 fight I'm most looking forward to this entire month. More then Guerrero's return, more than Gamboa/Crawford. I have no idea what is going to happen.
I'm sure they have both run into many southpaws during their time in the AMs.. it'll make for an interesting fight but I think Loma knows what it takes and will take it but Russell Jr.'s experience in the pros might show otherwise but Loma can go 12 and still end the fight if he can land flush.
