For me, it's clearly Mike Tyson. The first fight I remember watching live is in fact Tyson - Bruno in 1989. Which fighter got you hooked on boxing, if any in particular?
Mine would have to be evander "the real deal" holyfield. His win over gearge foreman sealed the deal for me. It reminded me of david and goliath. Evander's heart was what made me watch him all the time!
I got into Boxing in 1997, when Mike Bit Evanders Ear - since then, I was so curious as to what will happen, if there was going to be a 3rd fight, etc. One of my freinds was a huge fan of the sport since the early 80's, and he had a box full of VHS tapes, I went back and watched all the title fights he had, from Sugar Ray Leonard fights, to the Riddick Bowe-Holyfield, to Oscar-Chavez. In a month, I became a huge boxing fan, and I watched all the great fights of the eithies and 90's... I then watched Tyson, Evander and Lennox Lewis''s career very closely, but it was guys like Oscar, Trinidad, MOsley and Ike Quartey, Hamed, Barerra, Morales, Venron Forrest that kept me hooked on the sport. To answer the question, it was because of Iron Mike that I became a fan of the sport.
Pacquiao. I'm a newbie. I really got into boxing after I saw him in his 24/7 with Cotto
This is the same time i started getting into boxing. I made a bet with my friend at work that pacquaio would win knowing very little and was hooked ever since.
Tyson for sure. Still probably the most exciting boxer of all time. Personification of badass, anger and aggression, a true example of PPV star.
Mhmm. Numbers obviously don't exist for this, but it wouldn't be a surprising stat if he's the one fighter who made most new fans of the sport (and often for the wrong reasons), historically speaking. Everybody knew the name Mike Tyson in the 90's, also people not interested in boxing.
For me it was a bunch of fighters that got me hooked. I'll start with Terry Norris,Gerald McClellan,Ceaser Chavez,Pernell Whitaker,Roy Jones Jr, Tito Trinidad, and Oscar De Hoya.

Used to sit and watch SRL, Duran, Hearns , Hagler, and maybe more with my Lolo (grandfather) and uncles. Didn't understand too much, but great times with family.
First boxer that I followed was Iron Mike!
Sugar Ray Leonard and Ali.
RJJ had a huge influence on me as a newbie boxing fan. I'm sure there were guys before RJJ that I've watched, but I always remember being a RJJ stan.
Well when you're 7 years old as I was, you don't 'decide' who opens your eyes to the sport :lol1: Tyson happened to be the one when he demolished Bruno. I was actually crying when I watched it :lol1:
Tyson Vs Bruno was a great fight for Mike but I can understand being in Europe and not having much to cheer for or see in the 80's..
PRPP :boxing:
Come on man.. It's Hector "Macho" Camacho that did it for me..
Blazing speed, 5 punch combos..I was hooked..

Although I had seen Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones, Mike Tyson and Naseems highlights, interviews etc because these fighters had and still have an aura around them lol
Funnily enough It was Amir Khan who actually was the eye opener for me to the sport. I remember him receiving so much hype in the Uk and I watched the Graham Earl fight live and of course he got knocked out a couple fights later, in which the hype for him died down but was resurrected after the hiring of a new coach who trains an ATG of this generation and of course from that point on I had started to explore this noble art :D
SUCKS I WASN'T BORN IN THE 80s
