I just read in a medical report that thinning of the cranium is not related to age, so Arum's concern is not scientifically supported.
Anyway, Pacman will surely go on fighting, until he feels he cannot. He himself will know. Since the quality of the "top" welterweights today are not like yesterday's, he will continue to challenge them. When Thurman loses to him, that will just add more fire to his boxing passion.
As long as pac stays away from Spence I think he can mix it for a couple of years
Spence is a bruiser ...
Spence is a plodder, Pacman will get him through his speed and movement. It will be a big workout for the Pacman though as he has to move a lot. He should do it now before he gets older.
Thurman and Crawford can also win against Spence, and vice versa. Thurman with his bicycle and crawford with his timing.
I hope the winner unify with the winner of Srisaket-Estrada while the loser fight the winner of Roman-Yafai. That of cos if the matches do happen.
I go for Estrada to win against Srisaket, technical vs puncher.
As for Roman, I think he really is best below 115, he can't hurt elite 115 fighters, but they will hurt him.
I definitely want to see Inoue vs Ancajas.
Not only that, but beats him even more decisively.
But Pacman knows Porter's style, and vice versa. It will be interesting, but not that I want to watch it. I think Pacman will catch Porter somehow as he comes in.
I would of rather had Mikey fight Manny as his first 147.
It makes alot more sense than getting destroyed by Spence.
Mikey/Manny would of been a huge success not to mention a great fight imo.
I cannot understand why Mikey wants Spence.
If mikey loses, it won't diminish his career. I he wins, it will really be bolstered. So he loses nothing.
If against Pacman and he loses, that's a big disaster for his career, losing to an old man.
Ok, I did post that this fight was the easier option for Manny as oppose to Thurman, because Spence comes forward, he is there to be hit.
I was wrong, Spence is like Marvin Hagler, he is coming after you, but he is not there to be popped in every exchange.
Mikey Garcia is a slick, brilliant boxer, we can all agree on that right?
He landed 75 punches, at a 25% clip against a so called brawler.
This is not opinion, it's mathematics, a welterweight with this type of punch placement, and force behind his punches, that can limit a talented boxer to 25% in terms of punches landed is dangerous to any style, including Mayweather.
Manny needs to leave this fight alone, go after Thurman, Omar Fig, keep the schedule light right now.
Not impressed, Mikey could not hurt Spence, he was waiting only for 1 punch. Obviously, Spence will just wade forward.
Mikey was so fat as well, sooo slow too.
Pacman and Floyd are different, they will make Spence respect them in the ring.
Cut it out, Errol put Manny on the spot when he called Manny out after the Mikey Garcia fight. Manny don't want it especially after he loses to Keith.
Thurman was the only available top fighter that would fit the schedule of Pacquiao. He may fight again in December after beating Thurman, then Spence would be available.
Or Porter, as I think Porter can upset Spence, even if Porter is shorter than Mikey Garcia. Porter will wear out Spence.
Doesn’t matter who he fights, Manny happy he takin home $25M.
That's what matters the most for him, he would be really upset if the fight was totally canceled. That's when he'll feel like he's being screwed, but no, the money is still there, so no problem. Of course PPV will take a hit, but he is still happy with the guaranteed money. Politically, maybe he can say during his campaign for president that he fought against injustice, for what was rightfully his lol
Pac probably wanted to fight the winner of Spence / Garcia as long as the winner was Garcia! He shouldnt have talked about fighting the winner or stepped into the ring and gave the impression thats what he wanted to do. He didnt go into the ring to say hello or build Spence's brand.
But he picked Spence to beat Garcia. Anyway, that poll means nothing, he probably is not even the one who wrote it, but his Twitter writer, who was ordered by someone else lol.
Roach likes it to be Spence, Pacman has also basically said no problem to a reporter, who leaked it to the press. Many people whisper in Pacman's ear, though, so let's see.
Thurman, Spence, Porter, Crawford, Garcia, Brook - All of these young lions are no good for Pacquiao. They would all love to fight Pacman for a chance at a huge payday. If Pacquiao can't secure a rematch with Floyd by Sept 2019, he should retire. He's chasing a ghost.
He won't retire, he needs to keep his name up, not for boxing but for politics until presidential elections. What better advertising without breaking campaign rules than fighting ?
How in the hell can AB still go back to the hood after this running performance?
That's why he said he won, he knows people in the hood will believe him lol. He has got their number.
Pacman vs Floyd ? There is a rumor that the fight will be in the later part of the year, like September.
This could be true, maybe Floyd wants to get his record up to 50-0 first with another well-chosen opponent, before facing his real test in the Pacman.
Who got boed is it pacquiao or mosley! dont get confused now!
Who cares ? Even GSP fight was booed, and Tyson in some of his fights (in his prime, while in the process of getting the next 2 belts after his 1st one). Floyd too.
Boos are all part of the game. The most boos are in the UFC though, no sweet science for them, all they want is someone to get "finished", and boos can come right at the very 1st or 2nd round !! Of course, non-title fights are only 3 rounds *lol*
Ortiz can't beat Margarito or Cotto or Mosley. Cintron may KO him too, and Clottey can beat him as well.
Watching Berto vs Ortiz compared to a Pacman fight is like watching amateurs. Even Clottey showed expertise in covering up
Actually, more and more UFC fighters will follow Francis Ngannou, leave the UFC and join PFL for real money. Ngannou just made over $30 million in two boxing matches. Conor McGregor made even more fighting Floyd Mayweather.
But the key thing is the fighters get paid properly and the UFC doesn't get it a cut. If Jon Jones is able to get out of his contract, look out. It will start an avalanche...
I agree, it's good business for all ... it might make some boxers and MMA fighters jealous though ... well, it's a new age, social media popularity drives revenues, just ask Jake Paul (who I like for making women's boxing bigger and with higher pay).
I would have wanted Errol Spence as an opponent for Pacman, as Thurman can be elusive if he wants to. At least Errol Spence will just be there to hit and hit back.
Well, PBC wins whether Pacman or Thurman wins, but their plans will be derailed if Spence loses to Porter.
JMM is losing his touch, getting hurt by a Class C fighter. Also must be feeling the effects now of knockdowns from almost all the boxer punchers he fought (except for Floyd but it was at welterweight with Floyd over the weight limit).
JMM is best at superfeatherweight. Pacman was drained in their last fight, who is now best at welterweight.
JMM will just lose against the Pacman at welterweight, and even if he is the lightweight champ, he didn't have much challenges at lightweight - old Casamayor, Class C Katsidis, feather punch Juan Diaz ...
Bring on Mosley versus Pacman, a more intriguing fight. Mosley can get lucky, while JMM will never KO the Pacman.
Very sensible post. Also, Thurman has something that Crawford, Spence, and Porter lack: charisma and the ability to sell a fight. Thurman is already playing up the villain role that highly compliments Manny's humble and good guy persona.
Crawford has the charisma of a rock, except in Omaha, in comparison to Thurman. I'd say that Thurman seems to be doing better than Broner though. He probably is getting some percentage in the PPV, and of course he has to psyche himself up since he will be up against a legend who can still swing it.
Thurman turned into a points fighter long before Spence. Expect the mambo king to dance around the ring then cry he got robbed when the decision is announced.
I think so too ... Thurman is going to ride a bike, inspite of being bigger and younger. His strategy would probably be to survive and try to potshot the Pacman.
He won't be doing what he did against Garcia and Porter, Pacman's style is a different one.
Hearn knows Roman is no superfly, he does not want Yafai to go out early without making some money first on Yafai, especially after seeing Ancajas display 2 different modes in beating Conlan and Sultan.
It's an exhibition fight with head gear, 18 oz gloves, and I think a big ring. Jake Paul will protect himself. Anyway, this "fight" is fine with me, it is not a pro fight, not even amateur, just an exhibition. Good payday for everyone involved, and might even bring some people to actually watch real boxing later on.
How many months will it take for someone to heal from a retinal tear surgery ? Anyway, Pacman will run for presidency, but he is an amateur compared to his all time great political opponents, so he won't win, which means he will come back to fight. Problem is he will be older again.
It's a real bummer that this happened to Spence. Pacman had skipped a lot of training when he fought Thurman due to political stuff, and it showed when the energizer bunny ran out of batteries early. Insiders said he didn't make that mistake in this camp, and boom, he now has to fight against someone defending Pacman's belt grrr. We can't be blamed for smelling something fishy. Damn WBA, this ridiculous org still gets paid well.
Marquez vs. Pacquiao needs to happen on HBO. 24/7 ****s on that lame ass fight camp 360. Also, I can't stand to listen to Gus Johnson's annoying voice.
I hate on no one for making money. Just don't pretend it's good for the health of the sport. It was better when it was on free tv and the best fighters needed to fight more than once a year.
Well, I can't stand Kellerman's voice :), I'm fine with Showtime. And I did like Fight Camp 360, more characters interviewed. I mean, what else is there to know about the Pacman that 24/7 didn't cover ?
As for Shane, well, he had a great record, who would expect him to surrender so easily with such a record ? Nobody ! Not a single soul. And Pacman is the champ, he should be the one to be chased.
So that teaches us a lesson, to ask ourselves if Pacman's next opponent will have the will to fight on after getting hit by Pacman.
As for PPV, it's driven mostly by people who simply want to watch the Pacman, or Floyd, fight anybody. They expect these two to win anyway, these two are at that level. Boxing pundits who know their stuff are just a tiny minority in the PPV sales. Like probably 95% of those at the MGM Grand were just there to see the Pacman, the others being high-rollers and some Mosley fans, reporters, and those who follow boxing.
Boxing will never die ... as long as there are superstars, and there always is. Like tens of millions watch Pacman in his home country, little kids included, who know nothing about boxing, and adults who would not know who is Victor Ortiz or Bradley :)
As I know there was no robbery. Budler was dropped. So I think that it is not similar to what happened with Manny and Carson Jones.
The judges were not from the hometown too.
"Judge Glenn Trowbridge had 115-112 and Takeo Harada 117-110 for Melindo but Carl Zappia scored the bout 115-113 for Budler."
Carl Zappia is Australian, the others USA and Japan.
Anyway, I read that the crowd was good, chanting "Kenya" when a Filipino won a decision he clearly did not deserve against a Kenyan.
Although I like the judge for meting out justice, I think forcing someone to stay in a limited space can be contested ? House arrest should mean any house, unless they pass a law to make that more specific, like how big the size of a house should be, or how luxurious should it be. Maybe Davis needs to hire much better million $ lawyers :)
Isn't he the one who dropped out of school in like elementary and can barely read?
Like how the hell is he gonna run a country
By delegating of course ...
