On July 20, the 40-year-old Filipino icon, Manny Pacquiao will climb into the ring for the 71st time when he faces Keith Thurman at Las Vegas' MGM Grand, aiming to capture the undefeated American's World Boxing Association "super" welterweight crown. Click Here To Read More]
It's the other way around, pac will retire thurman for good. If you're in your prime at 29 and you have all the advantage both in weight and reach and you're exposed by a 40-yr old small-WW then there's no sense to continue fighting. Thurman should hang his gloves up after the beating from the hands of pac.
Technical or not, never compare Manny with Mikey.
Spence vs Margarito would have been a 50/50 fight, but we all know styles makes fights!
And we all know fanboyism (p a c t a r d ism) clouds vision and common sense. But carry on....its actually comedy.
Not 70 fights like you though pac. You don't belong in this era. You would have fitted in srr era and felt at home and not out of place.
Best of this era.
How the fck can be the best of an era when beaten what 6-7 times, his biggest wins are CWs with drained fighters and he hand picks guys from lower divisions, nobody in the history of boxing has manipulated weight in so many fights as Manny has and he gets away with it because the internet generation of fans know very little about boxing they are hype swallowers.
Youre one of those hype swallowing fans, a post or so back youre claiming Mannys win over a 145 lb Oscar where Manny weighed more than a dried out prune was better than Floyds win over a 165 lb Oscar, you are so full of bias you disregard weight and many other things surrounding a fight, you have never set foot in a boxing ring and thats why you talk the utter sht you do.
Great fighter but man made through very careful match making.

Exactly Spence is good but Manny is special. Spence hasn't even fought a top 5 WW yet so we really don't know how good he is. His last fight was against a LW who he couldn't even hurt, lockdown, or ko him. Crawford hasn't fought a 10+ ranked WW. There's no "Truth" other than the eye test with these guys. Manny has faced way better and proven fighters than these 2 and dismantled them. It would be tough at 40 but I believe since Pac is special as he's proved , he can still pull it off with these top guys
Spence is a plodder, Pacman will get him through his speed and movement. It will be a big workout for the Pacman though as he has to move a lot. He should do it now before he gets older.
Thurman and Crawford can also win against Spence, and vice versa. Thurman with his bicycle and crawford with his timing.
Not for me
Spence is the truth
The slow, plodding Spence clearly out-boxed Garcia, who is a much more technically sound boxer than Manny is. He would do the same or worse to Manny. Take a reality pill dude.

As long as pac stays away from Spence I think he can mix it for a couple of years
Spence is a bruiser ...

I just read in a medical report that thinning of the cranium is not related to age, so Arum's concern is not scientifically supported.
Anyway, Pacman will surely go on fighting, until he feels he cannot. He himself will know. Since the quality of the "top" welterweights today are not like yesterday's, he will continue to challenge them. When Thurman loses to him, that will just add more fire to his boxing passion.
Thurman is 30 and rust free or fading. Pacman has lost half of his offense but is excited to rumble at 40. We hope to see a great fight on July 20, 2019. More power!
Because every recent opponent he has always backpedals and runs away faster than on a bicycle.
Can't blame the guy when recent welterweights are a bunch of wuss that won't even fight each other.
Bob shouldn't worry too much because this isn't prime Thurman we are talking about. We are talking about the diminished version of One Time; Who is no longer at his physical peak, on the decline and a shell of his former self.
It doesn’t matter who he’s fighting. The years of head blows during sparring and fighting will take it’s toll. Ali didn’t get brain damage from just one fight. It took years of punishment and sometimes those symptoms of brain damage doesn’t emerge till years later. God has plans for Pacquiao I just hope there’s a nice exit plan.

Boxing is a sport where they always think thier is one fight left in them , sadly time and age wait for no one , Zab Judah was the latest one to find that out unfortunately.. also why are thier no 40 yr old Olympic champions in physical sport .. ? Age and time perhaps ?
George Foreman was the exception, not the rule. Yes old Foreman was both successful financially and in the ring all while leaving with his wits intact.... but most dont. Look at James Toney, Roy Jones, Evander Holyfield, all of them with slurred speech from fighting on too late. A lot of others just fizzle out, like Mayorga losing to some guy in his pro debut a few weeks ago.
I hope Pac isnt doing all this because he thinks he can get a Floyd rematch. I dont see floyd at 42 years old fighting anybody but MMA fighters for easy money. He hasnt fought a true boxer in 4 years and his own uncle has terrible dementia from boxing.
Even Hopkins went a few fights too many, he was left having to pull every trick in the book, including crying about imagined fouls to the ref, just to survive. Pacquaio could retire on a high note right now after his thrashing of Broner but we all know hes likely going to keep going until some nobody knocks him out.
