Nacho Beristain, trainer and manager of WBO/WBA lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, was very worried when Michael Katsidis dropped his fighter in the third round of last Saturday's clash in Las Vegas. Beristain admits that he had never seen his fighter in so much trouble - and that includes the four occasions where Juan Manuel was dropped by Manny Pacquiao.
"He's a fighter who is smart enough to avoid the punch which Katsidis used to send him to the canvas. I had never seen him that hurt, but he was able to push through because of the sacrifices he made with his running, and training in the gym, and his heart," Beristain said.
Marquez would eventually break Katsidis down and stop him in the ninth round. He is now focused on landing a third fight with Pacquiao.
