Cotto had a good run. He always seemed like a guy that achieved higher than his talent would indicate to me. Kind of in the same boat with Margarito, they have crazy heart and decent skills but at the top level their weaknesses are exposed. Trout was impressive. Him and Canelo is a good fight although it'll probably be a dull affair especially to the casual fan. Canelo is unproven but I see something I can't pinpoint in the way opponents get discouraged against him. Good to see fresh blood have their day.
Lara will never be in the same league as Floyd/Ward.
Good post. Lara and Rigondeaux are the truth but they can't lead. Ward and Floyd have shown the ability to lead and through combinations if the oppurtunity presents itself.
Lot of hate on the ginger kid don't count him out hrs only 23 and improving. Mexican fighters getting a lot of hate lately but Mexicans are a big part of why boxing is having a good couple of years.
Good win by PAC. He did seem a step slower and was definitely affected by some of Rios attack early on but he adjusted like a true champ and made it an easy fight. He is still elite. I think if if he adapts to having slightly less foot and hand speed the way he did tonight he can still be a top guy for a couple years. He boxed as well as I've seen him. A prime PAC destroys Rios in under 6rds but he's still a cut above that caliber fighter. I'd like to see a Bradley rematch. Bradley's confidence has grown and Pacquiao appears to be adapting to getting older and changing it up after being knocked out. Im done with Marquez, they are each other's equal both great first ballot hof ers nothing else to see there. That being said Mayweather is a cut above the two of them
Chavez-Golovkin
Garcia-Matthyse
Rios-Pacquiao, (brutal but one sided)
Broner-Gamboa
Martinez-Mayweather
Martinez-Canelo,
I'd like to see Donaire vs Rigo or Mares but hell knock both dudes out so I'm not to excited about that. Maybe Garcia-Donaire at 126.
How about Maidana-Berto,
Arreola-Wilder,,
Froch-Pascal II,
Marquez-Alexander
Chavez-Golovkin
Garcia-Matthyse
Rios-Pacquiao, (brutal but one sided)
Broner-Gamboa
Martinez-Mayweather
Martinez-Canelo,
I'd like to see Donaire vs Rigo or Mares but hell knock both dudes out so I'm not to excited about that. Maybe Garcia-Donaire at 126.

Khan by 10rd TKO
He needs to fight almost the same way as before. All he has to do is stop dropping his right hand when he throws that left and he'll be fine. However, I don't know if he'll actually do that. Him and his trainer seem to be very stubborn.
He needs to pivot. I think he stays in front of his opponent way too much. I don't think he can change much. He needs to throw 100+ punches per round and stay at 154. He might get a title shot soon. I always thought he was over rated he's a good fighter but very flawed.
Don't know what to make of this fight. I haven't been able to gauge accurately who hits harder. Angulo would make Canelo backpedal like nobody before him. Neither guy has great handspeed and they both throw every punch with torque behind them. Canelo has better timing and counterpunching ability. Neither guy has much defense but Canelo has slightly better reflexes at least to counter. Angulo is ferocious though he doesn't stop coming. If Canelo has better power than Cintron (which I'm not to sure he does) Canelo by late ko/Tko. If not Angulo by TkO/KO in the mid rounds.
at 154 only dudes giving cotto problems are paul williams and alfedo angulo. and both can be beat as weve seen in the past. i know sergio is 1 of the hottest things in boxing but i think cotto can beat him. the other 2 fights would be harder for cotto depending on the pace of the fight. sergios pace is more 2 cottos liking.
Good Analysis. I think Cotto's gonna be better at 154 to be honest. He's gonna be forced to be a boxer puncher, like the first part of both the Margarito and PAC fight. I see him being stronger at a more comfortable weight. If Steward helps shore up that defense look out. A Martinez fight would be a hell of a fight, I know I'd pay for it cuz Cotto is no slouch in the speed department and he is thouroughly skilled offensively. You're right about Angulo and Williams because they're pressure fighters and bigger than Cotto. If he would get his mind right and shore up that defense he could win both. Cotto's only mistakes were he tried to match speed with PAC and he forgot about the body against Margarito he could easily be undefeated.
Margarito didn't hurt him at all. Show me where Paul was hurt in that fight. He took all those shots in stride. Hurt is not the word you are looking for. Momentarily bothered would be a better way to put it.
Fair enough hurt might be a little strong but if Pavlik lands the combination that Margarito did with about 10sec left in RD 10 Williams will more certainly be seriously "bothered" against pavlik and to a lesser extent if he has a round like RD11 in that fight. that's all I meant Williams clearly won 8 or 9 rounds in that fight but Pavlik is better than Margarito even with the plaster pavlik punches harder and throws more crisp punches.
I do not think Manny will have the power to stop Margarito this fight.
He is strictly working on speed for this camp and not the mix training of power and speed as he did during the Cotto and Clottey training camps.
Pacquiao by decision.
Couldn't have said it better myself Manny wins rounds 1-10, and Margs finally breaks through late but much too late with little power left on his shots. 118-110 Pacman.
Fight should have been at 154lbs and the corner was ok but Canelo needs Nacho is his corner..
It wasn't a beat down at all, it was more like Olympic boxing, just connect to rack up points.
I'd like to see Canelo vs Cotto next
I've thought this before. Canelo would benefit greatly from having someone like Nacho in his corner. His handspeed is good for 154 and the instincts are there but his footwork is ugly to look at. Sometimes I think he's going to trip over his own feet. If you could combine JMM's skill with Canelos ability then you have a guy that can dominate the sport. I think Canelo needs to slow down a bit and fight guys like Molina, Ishe Smith, even Angulo if he can beat those guys and improve in the next year he can face guys like Lara, Cotto or rematch Trout before moving up to 160 and taking another shot at being a top p4p fighter.
Great fight if you bad mouth Bradley after this fight you're just showing yourself as a huge hater. Provodnikov is a hard sob and Bradley is mentally tough as anyone in the game. Bring on Bradley Marquez and Pac Rios. Provodnikov deserves a big fight after this performance maybe back down at 140. Best fight since jmm Diaz 1
That was GARBAGE!!! Dominant but very frustrating to watch. What's the deal with the announcers they sounded like they had a crush on ward. He's a good fighter but I don't see him matching up well with the top of this division.
Settle down you little chocolate coated cookie , your monster Manny cant box good enough to stop his fans booing him and Floyd will own him ,,, Im really sorry to pop your bubble like that , just think of your life as journey of learning and today was just one of lifes letdowns that we all have from time to time , you will get over it .
Reloaded, I've never been more upset at a fighter than last night. Shane embarrassed himself for the third straight time. He showed no heart whatsoever. Pac didn't even land a clean punch on the knockdown, it landed behind the ear. Both guys looked awful, Pac was bewildered by that jittery ass backhand jab of Mosley. Cramps, bull**** not cramping enough to fuk around doing the most fuked up Ali shuffle. Pac has taken 3+ years between Marquez fights, Why??? They were both fight of the year type fights, probably Pac's most exciting back and forth fights absolute wars of will and mind so Why The F... does Pac and Top Rank wait to fight a guy with a legitimate claim to be a top p4p and first ballot hof'er until November 2011. Did he price himself out??? No, he asked for a 5mil guarantee which Top Rank was more than willing to give Mosley plus a healthy purse. Now they will fight, JMM will be 38 by November(only one year younger than Mosley. Me and you know why pac shot through 135 and 140. 147 had overhyped guys with names people knew ripe for the picking. Who wants to fight young hungry Lions when you can take on faded weight drained, shot guys looking for a pay day and make 25 mil a fight. We just had one of the best months in boxing in ages in April and it continued into May with the Vazquez Arce fight big props to both fighters. Then we get this absolute s..t of a fight from Top Rank. Why has boxing slipped so much?, because it has become more about perception than reality, because, there is a near mob mentality with these promoters because, once young hungry lions have been given the cop out of cashing in on their names and conserving their legacy.
MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Freddie Roach, trainer of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, believes "Sugar" Shane Mosley should retire from boxing. According to Roach, Mosley was in survival mode for twelve rounds and never tried to win the fight.

Well said Freddy. What sucks is this was the case way before this fight.
Amir would punish him.
Amir is better at everything but the interesting thing about this fight is Ortiz is a deadly puncher I've seen him fight live and dudes punches are so straight accurate and strong. Hed be a big test to Khans chin.
Now you see why no one responds to him, but you. It's not worth it, his post give me migraines when I try and decipher them.
sorry if I didn't get across to you next time ill break it down to a level you can understand.
Have me banned !!!! Don't READ !!!!! If the Pacfans don't agree with me ,,,, I will leave Boxingscene !!!!!!!!
If my reasoning is a blight to all,,,,,I will stop ,,,,LMAO !!!!!!!!
Speak up !!!!!!!
There is many sights dedicated to your idol. If you want to feel at home you can go there. Stop trying to make this one into one.
this just proves that donaire should skip montiel due to him being small donaire is a 126 pounder he needs to stop fighting midgets i like him he can be a great fighter but he needs to fight top guys i think he gets killed by lopez or gamboa
With a couple of fights at 126 I see Donaire giving these guys a boxing lesson. He is the real deal his skills, reflexes and footwork are almost perfect. I'm not usually so high on guys until they fight other top p4p guys but I see the full package in this guy.
Arum's never going to let Donaire fight Rigondeaux. we'll probably seem him against Jorge Arce next then Rafa Marquez.
I think Arum's plan is to let Donaire beat up overmatched Puerto Ricans and Mexicans. once they hate him enough they'll pay money to see him lose, which he won't.
Rigondeaux and Toshiaki Nishioka might as well just forget it. Arum isn't going to risk Donaire against a guy he won't be able to make money off of.
Sounds like the Manny pacquiao special.
And he would Mike. Alvarado strikes me as a really insecure guy. Jmm wouldn't quit on his stool. The all out aggression plays right into Jmm's style. He would run right into massive shots. We forget how Provo was a n FNF who was outboxed by Herrera. Take a look at the Bradley fight. If that's JMM instead of Bradley landing those flush combos Provo is asleep. He's a very tough good pressure fighter but he's there to be ko'd. Pac would ko him too.
This post is generating as much interest as the actual fight will. A Cotto/Margarito rematch will generate more interest than Pac against either one.
Pac appears to be a great person but his boxing legacy is a farce with his insistence on fighter perviously beaten fighters (everyone demolished, except Clottey) and still asking for catchweights while chasing belts in different divisions. I don't think he would have been chasing those belts if Williams or Martinez held them.
Cosign. Who's the chick in your av she is beyond sexy.
Urango was too much in this fight. This kid needs some defense though, a better fighter would've damaged Urango. He should get with mayweather sr., he'd be dangerous if he learned to be a little slick. What was up with Teddy Atlas scorecard a 10-10 round? A 10-8 round with two knockdowns now way was this fight that close its like he doesn't pay attention.
Is this serious? Who the hell expected Malignaggi or Quintana to do anything against Cotto? Paulie was still a prospect and Quintana is far from slick. Look, I'm happy for Miguel and hope he gets one final huge payday before he's done because he's always been a warrior but let's not get crazy, Miguel gets shutout against Floyd. I'd actually expect a TKO in the latter rounds.
I don't get why people would rather see cotto vs mayweather. Cotto vs pac is more competitive and more action. Let's not forget that cottos dad passed before the pac fight and he had no trainer. I don't give cotto a chance against either guy but a mayweather fight would be a boring wipeout. I want floyd vs martinez, pac vs bradley, cotto vs canelo and marquez vs peterson but that would make too much sense.
