Poor example for a few reasons.
1) Wlad isn't American so Americans aren't going to care about his fights as much. "Ukranian heavyweight champion" doesn't really turn heads here.
2) In Germany Wlad is hugely successful and one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. Bernard has never hit this level.
Chances are if Wlad were a black Ukranian he would not be as big of a draw in Germany, even as champion.
Golovkin is on the scene 2 yrs fighting not nearly the level of comp Wlad has proven himself against, and he is catching on in America fairly quickly, selling out Arenas, getting hyped by HBO. Not because he's white, but because his fights are EXCITING. Pacquiao is from the god damn Phillipines, and is a mega star, not because he's white or black, but because his fights are EXCITING to watch. Mike Tyson sold tickets and is still popular and beloved today, even though he's made more than his share of huge mistakes, because he was so much fun to watch. You see where I'm going with this right?
Did Hopkins actually say race was the reason why he's unpopular? :lol1:

They love that "6 Million" number don't they.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dda-0Q_XUhk
You people are such mongoloids. You even watch your own video? It's claiming 6 mil Jews experienced "hardship" after ww1, not death. And historians who's credibility is at stake have pretty much agreed on these numbers despite what some random YouTube douchebag thinks he's stumbled upon. As for Fury who I think is completely uneducated, and I don't even think he'd argue that, he is arguing that the Jews who run the banks, are brainwashing citizens. Do all you Brits feel that their is a Jewish conspiracy to brainwash you? If so I have a tinfoil hat I'd like to sell you that can stop this, please send me 500 American dollars and I'll ship it right over. Good night geniuses.
Can a single one of you scholars defending Fury PLEASE tell me where the evidence is that Jews in banking are BRAINWASHING people in the UK? That's what he said, that's what I have a problem with. Not his statement they own banks or media? I don't really care about that, unless they are getting together in secret meetings to BRAINWASH people? Is there some secret Jewish conspiracy? Cuz so far everyone defending him has put up not a single shred of evidence of this. Please don't respond to this unless it's an article from a real journalist, not some YouTube nutjob who sits in his mom's basement trying to "crack the case"
Nope, no interest in seeing broner smash matthysse. Breaking him down with punch after punch until the tko or ko comes. Too easy of a fight IMO. Broner will kill every 140pounder. 147 is where that challenges begin.
You've never even see him fight a 140 lber. Broner is vulnerable to punches, btw. If he lets Matthysse hit him anywhere near as much as a clubfighter like Gavin Rees, you think he's lasting?
I might bet my house on Canelito tbh
To me, Cotto is a lot more similiar to Canelo than Canelo fans might wanna admit. And that is a bad sign if he's gonna be gettin in the ring with the guy who just almost shut Cotto out.
Last I heard, this fight wasn't a done deal.
I'm just assuming it is for the sake of the topic. It's close enough to done to start the thread, at least.
Dzinziruk on points, easy. He has a pretty solid chin, so he probably just out boxes Vera all night. Side note, I met Dzin at Foxwoods in Nathans right after he got KO'd by Sergio Martinez. Easily the most humble, cool fighter I ever met. Apologized for losing and then talked with me for a few minutes, thanked me for coming to the fight. Even though he's boring after that encounter i can't help but root for the guy.
People can talk trash but this fight will sell out in UK or Ireland. No joke, its the only fair fight for Jones at this point, they are both on the same level now, Roy cannot beat these younger guys.
Why not watch, haha. I'm Irish so watching a steve fight would be cool. I was too young to know who collins was back in the day but I'd watch him fight roy
jcc is a cruiser weight and i havnt seen enough of ggg
JCC is a cruiserweight who got nearly shutout vs Martinez, was getting beatin by Andy Lee, and has looked just OK against alot of other 160ers. I haven't seen enough of Golovkin but to me the size advantage Jr has had hasn't really been that much of an advantage in the past. Doubt it will be against GGG.
this fight isn't as big of a joke as it was when gurerrero first started talking about it. he's proven himself some what at 147. bradley, canelo and trout are better fights though.
I agree it's not as bad as it once was, but how is Floyd not thinking bigger? He might fight 2 or 3 more times before we really see his skills slip. Take on the big names. Call out Martinez, call out Canelo, even Bradley is ok. But Guerrero has beatin Aydin, who no one in the US ever heard of, and Berto, who lost to soft as hell Victor Ortiz. He's beat alot top guys 20 lbs south of 147, but why is he on Floyd's radar with a couple of wins against sub-elite competition? I just don't get it. Only thing I can think of is he really believes his skills are slipping and wants to play it safe.
he earned the fight.... you guys here are never happy and are just worse to please than a spoil brat, if its canelo than you guys are *****ing, if its guerrero than you guys are *****ing....
some of you guys ruin boxing for yourself with your boxing nerd mentality, they dont care a boxing forum has to say because in reality the money comes from the casual viewers
I just wanna make sure you understood my original post, since you seem to have gotten really worked up about it. And if I'm right you're saying that Martinez-Mayweather and Canelo-Mayweather are gettin passed over cuz Guerrero-Mayweather is where the casual viewers money is at. Ok buddy. Glad you know where the casual viewers wanna put there money.
I'm saying at this point Floyd has got a few years left, 2, maybe 3. He fights once a year. What is he doing fighting Guerrero? Fight those legacy fights, Canelo, Martinez, maybe a year or two down the road fight Golovkin. After that, he is in the convo for top 5 all time great. Right now he's not cracking the top 10. I don't like Floyd. In fact I hate him. But fact is the mother****er has talent, so he should put that talent up against some names that will make people recognize how rare that talent is. I don't see that in a Guerrero fight. I just see another top WW that is a good fighter but who won't really enhance Floyd's legacy one bit.
Are they fighting each other?
The Klitshckos have fought Haye, Chisora, Adamek, Arreola, and will be fighting Povetkin. I do agree that it should be more fighting among the rest of them, though. It would make for good fights. Haye-Chisora, Adamek-Arreola did go down already.
It gets so much crap because it is crap. Fat out of shape fighters and cruiserweights in the top 10 ratings.
The heavies have always has out of shape and blown up cruisers since evander holyfield and james toney were in the division. Why does the division get more **** now than ever before? That's the question I'm asking. People don't appreciate the good fights in this division.
this fight would be at 168. People saying Chavez Jr is too big for Kelly? Not sure how you figure. Kelly is taller and his body is just as used to fighting at 168 as Jr would be, even more so.
Kelly has the jab to keep Chavez Jr outside and eating straight rights for a KO or comfy UD
Beating Berto at WW is 10X better than going life and death with Julio Diaz in your only WW fight to date. Garcia is more legit than Khan, 140 pound champ vs 147 pound champ. He can do better than Khan, he get any damn fighter he WANTS. Key word there.
Beating Aydin and Berto was shit at WW. Beating Berto at WW was shit. It's still better than anything Khan has done lately and at WW.
I'd take Alexander over Khan. At least that's WW unification, not a money grab against popular UK elite neck china chin bitch.
So you think Guerrero and Ortiz will put up more of a fight against Floyd than Khan will? I will bet all my points that Khan wins more rounds than Guerrero, and doesn't get KO'd by the 3rd like Ortiz did. Sig it if you're that confident.
I'm not even a Mayweather fan and I'm defending him against clowns who do nothing but ***** and moan no matter what. That's ok though. I know it's your job as semi-pro boxing critics. Please continue.
Ortiz got stopped in the 4th FYI. So he needs to win more rounds than Guerrero, which was what, 1, maybe 2? And you have no points. Like at all. :lol1:
I would bet real money if I knew you at all. but Guerrero winning 1,2 rounds, yes. If this is such a mismatch Khan should be getting shut out here. You know that's not happening. I will tell you what, no bet. I'm just going to remind you of how dumb you looked trying to say Khan is a worse opponent than these two every time you post another stupid response like that.
http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/attachments/5-0l-talk/150184d1330455457-i-know-bolt-ons-made-difference-its_time_to_stop_posting.jpg
You tards throw this **** up but you don't argue a point. Guerrero, Ortiz. Would you say these were better opponents. Or maybe he should fight someone else in the WW top 10- Kell Brook? Bradley? Marquez II? Alexander? Keith Thurman? Are these welterweight fights more legit? Cuz that's who else is top 10. Nice response though.
Khan could have fought once more in 2013, what do you think? That's all I was hoping to see before this fight was even considered
Yeh, he could have. But let's remember other fights that Floyd has fought that were hyped up- Victor Ortiz, whose sig win was Andre Berto, only a fight or two after getting KO'd by Maidana, and Guerrero, who had good wins at lighter weights but who's big win at 147 was..... Andre Berto after the Ortiz loss. I'm just saying Amir is a more legit than either of those guys.
Tommorow night will make it clearer on who would have the edge one things for sure it would be a hell of a fight possibly FOTY. we haven't seen kovalevs chin get tested too much yet while stevenson has been KO'd already earlier
Agreed. I'm picking Kovalev right now because he's unbeaten and Stevenson has a loss on his record. Also Kovalev has been fairly dominant against everyone he's face in recent years. Stevenson had a close fight with Don George. Still, this one could go either way, and I agree that tomorrow will be a good indicator where they both stand as of right now.
LMFAO at the people who bought tickets for this fight.
You're gettin a lil too excited. I doubt the NY commission kills the biggest fight to come to the garden in the last few years over an eye that's been cleared by multiple docs who've looked at it.
The USA is by far the worst for robberies and shady officiating in recent years.
And while Brits and other Europeans ADMIT when a visiting fighter has been jobbed (like all the Brits admitted Page should have won against Dallas), the Americans tend to self-righteously deny it while b1tching about robberies in other countries.
Helenius-Chisora? Sturm-Macklin? That's just the two that immediately come to mind. Why do you think people here deny robberies? Name the first one that comes to mind? Because Khan Peterson, the commentators and people i talked to knew Khan got phucked over in that fight.
i got tickets, im flying from california, but even if it gets moved ill still make the trip. i think the "bout subject to change" is if the main event gets changed in the same venue ex Cotto vs Someone else
I bought a couple. I've been hyped up for this fight since the last fight, waiting 3 yrs, so anywhere in the northeast i'm willing to go, but if Arum has an ounce of class he'll at least put it in AC for all those who have tix and still wanna go. If it's anywhere else in the US, like Texas or some other BS, I'm not gonna buy another ticket to a Top Rank fight until Arum is dead or retires.
i can talk about whatever i want, thats what the site is for. dont get so defensive about it. its a grudge match, nothing more, nothing less. its cool, but i can talk **** about something n still watch it. doesnt mean its a good fight so i dont really get your point.
and lol at margs eye being fine. thats simply not true.
the point is that you're criticizing a fight for fighters who are passed it yet you're going to watch it because grudge matches between passed it fighters have made some of the best fights in history. The Thrilla in Manila wasn't Prime Ali vs Prime Frazier. Their prime was farther back then Tony and Miguel's are today. Appreciate that this fight is happening at all.
interesting fight yes, but both being passed their prime does matter imo. and what really takes the piss is the fact that its at a fcukin catchweight.
It's 1 lb. The only reason to complain about the fight being at 153 is because you're looking for something to complain about. This makes just about 0 difference in how the fight will go. Do you think Tony or Miguel making 153 instead of 154 will make a huge difference as to the outcome? The whole catchweight thing was more about the two camps playing mindgames than anyone actually caring about what weight this gets fought at.
It doesn't matter what weight, for what belt, and in what country this gets fought in, although that its at MSG is awesome. It's about the rivalry between two men who don't like each other.
