I saw it as a fairly close but clear win for Povetkin.
Half of Huck's landed shots were illegal rabbit punches, and he was missing a lot
Very good point, Huck was throwing those rabbit punches often I noticed that and got pretty annoyed lol.
I think after this weekend there's no doubt that Maidana can't fight people box well, have good movement, and speed. And oh yeah southpaws. He does great against fighters that stand right in front of him, with the exception of Morales. I thought Maidana was going to kill Morales, but Morales showed how really tough and good he is even old and fat.
But Rios is a good fight for him. Its a phone booth fight for sure. Rios is better on the inside, but Maidana is stronger at 140 IMO. If Rios can handle Maidana's shots he can probably win. But first we have to see what happens against Gamboa.
Exactly... why talk about a Maidana fight when Rios has to get through an extremely tough draw in Gamboa first??
Unless you think BamBam will get a Maidana fight win or lose. If so, I think Rios has a great chance at a KO
Hopkins will look to make it a dirty fight (holding, pushing, etc...), but I think if Chad performs at his best he will be able to eke out the win. Hopkins is steadily aging, and coming off of surgery just a few months ago may potentially be hitting the beginning of his decline. If Bad Chad wants to save face after the debacle in the last bout, he needs to get this win and prove to the boxing world he is the true #1 in the light heavyweight division.
IMO, Pacquiao stays busier keeping Bradley outside with a consistent jab, and even though Bradley impresses with good inside fighting and speed, not even happening and Pacquiao pulls out a relatively easy majority decision.
Nobody could touch Ali in his prime IMO. Between his height advantage, constant movement, and big right hand any competitor would find himself quickly overtaken by a heavyweight with middleweight quickness and a laser hook.:boxing:
Based on what, his win over an old Ruiz or his lucky win over Valuev who should have already lost his title to the 107 year old Holyfield? Let him beat some real comp before declaring him anything special.
Good point man, he was definetly great at cruiserweight but now I think he would struggle if he went back down in weight. Not many fights at heavyweight at all lol, I guess its based more on the speculation of his talent than anything.
He was no Jean Paul Mendy or Jesse Brinkley!
lol you can insult Bute's opposition all you want but he is the one with the title. All Froch has is a bruised ego and the mindset that he only loses because "he was 3000 miles from home". What a sorry excuse. Bute should have been in the Super Six, then your little fighter wouldn't have made it to Ward anyways and we wouldnt be having this discussion
Of course he wants to fight them now. They've been going to war against top competition for the past 2/3 years whilst hes feasted on a line of bums!
LOL then agree to disagree, because no matter what either of us says it will be decided in the ring. But I think more people would want to see Ward-Bute than Froch-Bute, just because of Froch's recent fights.
I have never said that Bute is fighting top competition. I think his toughest opponent was in his last fight againt Johnson, but Johnson was a Super Six alternate and Bute easily outpointed him, sparring partners or not that counts for something. Froch didn't start facing real competition until right before the Super Six began, and while the tournament was occuring Bute had no opportunities to face top talent because they were all engaged in the tournament.
They shouldn't giving him that much credit because he is totally untested and his best win is Johnson who Froch beat before him.
I agree with you but they are giving him the credit, and until he fights someone that makes his pretty record a little uglier people will continue talking about him as a great. I personally don't see him as that great, I'm just going on what I hear and it seems like Bute's camp feel he can handle anyone at super middleweight without a problem.
All of the potential great African American Heavyweights are playing in the NFL right now. Just lok at Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, James Harrison, Lamar Woodley, DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, Lance Briggs, etc. Even Seth Mitchell, supposedly the next good African American HW, he played football.
Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, Mike Tyson, and Michael Moorer were the last really good African American HW's.
The other weight classes still have future stars: Adrien Broner, Andre Ward, Timothy Bradley, Gary Russell Jr, Mike Jones, James Kirkland, Peter Quillin, etc.
Good point on the heavyweights lol, definetly true. Seth Mitchell is a beast ha I hope he has a bright future ahead.
Ward's style is tailor-made for Bute's uppercuts.
So do you think Ward or Bute win in a matchup? I agree about the uppercuts, but Bute would have to catch Ward and hurt him badly to win, otherwise Ward by decision. I just don't know if Bute would be able to hit Ward early and often, but his pressure would be key in that fight.
Bute would give a great show no matter who the guy was he fought
Finally, someone who agrees with me! lol. Bute may fight weak opponents but he has a good style and is confident, two things essential for a great match.
No he hasn't. He's proven nothing compared to Froch.
Lucian Bute is 30-0, 24 KO's, ranked #9 P4P on BoxRec.com and was not even invited to Super Six, but in his last fight easily outpointed Glen Johnson, a Super Six participant that Froch fought a much closer bout with.
Carl Froch 28-2, 20 KO's, has lost to Kessler and Ward in two out of last 3 bouts, with biggest bout to his credit a decision over Pascal, followed by victories over jermain taylor and andre dirrell.
Maybe Froch has proven more so far, but as far as boxing goes, who is actually better? Because it seems like people are finally starting to give Bute the credit and respect he deserves now that the Super Six sham is complete.
Yeah thats a good one... or even bradley vs khan
Oh yeah bradley-khan would be an awesome fight, i think bradley would control the inside and take the speed out of khan early with body blows. bradley majority decision
the next step in your boxing education
styles make fights
triangle theories never work in boxing
ali, fraizer and foreman
cotto, mosley and margo
many more examples as well
lol thanks for the assistance, and for showing up at the end of an argument randomly to get your 2 cents in. well done.
The original poster was talking about how we underrate him here. My point was that people would stop doing that if he would just step up his level of competition.
Oh ok I gotcha, definetly does need to step up the level of competition. Sorry, but an aging Glen Johnson really isn't considered a top-tier fighter at this junction LOL.
LOL Taylor and Abraham? I doubt those two could even get by Johnson at this point. Bute would smash them bad.
LOL I completly agree he would bang out both of them, but my point is either a Jermain Taylor or Arthur Abraham matchup would probably be Bute's biggest fight yet, and either fight would get him more widespread exposure at SMW. He can't be rated any higher at his weight until he fights more well-known opponents. Glen Johnson was a good start, but now he really has to step it up to keep up after the Super Six garnered so much attention for Ward and even Froch.
He's proven he can win big fights away from home - which is more than Ward and Bute have proven.
Lol Froch has also proven he can struggle against an aging Glen Johnson when at home, a problem Bute didn't experience in anyway. And Ward proved that he can win the Super Six with one hand, against an overhyped fighter many thought had a legitimate chance.
Wow Froch is looking better and better in my eyes with supporters like these.
i dont know if you know this or not...but in boxing. not everyone can win all the time. Some do some dont. Gatti didnt and was one of the most wanted to watch fighters in some time. So he lost two of last three. That makes him trash?
Lol I really think you have no room to correct my capitalization of proper nouns when you can barely type a sentence. Look at how many people are insulting you because of how idiotic you make yourself sound over the computer.
Did I ever say Froch was trash? Nope, all I said was he isn't at the same level as Bute or Ward, which was obvious from his loss to Ward. He lost to Kessler, a titlist, and Ward, a titlist, so why give him a shot at another title with Bute. You are illogical, and instead of admitting you are wrong you would rather continue to spew nonsense until the entire community tells you off. Do everyone a favor and stick to watching youtube boxing highlights because you know nothing about the actual sport you pitiful waste of space and air.
yeah sure have...he beat all of them moron! Can you read that! Is that proper enough for you? He WON! lol :bottle:
And Bute knows a little something about winning too, seeing as he is undefeated, while your pretty boy Froch has lost 2 of his last 3 and is now looking for a fight to "prove" himself after losing to a fighter with one strong hand. whats left to prove? lol
Sparring familiarises opponents with each other leading to the kind of dull, uninspired fight we got with Bute-Johnson were they just went through the motions.
Froch has lost one fight that you could consider a "bad" loss and that was to Ward. I dont know what you were watching but he gave it his best effort but was simply not equipped to beat Ward. I get the impression from your posts that you dont really know what you're watching anyway.
Froch has beaten or fought on terms with Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham and Johnson.
Bute has fought bums and a sparring partner
i dont need you to tell me what sparring does, what i need you to tell me is what it had to do with the Bute-Johnson fight. Johnson lost that fight badly, and performed decently well against Froch, albeit in a loss.
Froch has lost to Kessler and Ward, split decision with Dirrell, and knocked out Taylor's old ass. I will give credit for the Pascal fight, but I don't think Abraham even belonged in the Super Six and the Johnson fight was a sorry showing by Froch where it should have been a unanimous decision.
I get the impression from your posts you are a big Froch fan, so sorry to burst your bubble, but no matter what you choose to say he isn't worthy of a title, which is why he no longer has one :)
And Bute ducked the Super Six but wants to fight the champion of the event. Something about that doesn't seem right. Seems like you need to let it go, Bute may fight bums but he wins and has big fan appeal, which is why he should be in the talks for a Ward matchup, and leave Froch to fight at home against "real talent".
Who do you think wins if this fight was to take place?
I'd give it to Haye, barring the Klitschko's I think he's the best heavyweight out there by a mile.
I agree, there are the Klitschko's, then Haye, then everyone else. Povetkin hasn't proved himself IMO, he struggled for the first 7-8 rounds of his fight with Chagaev and I just don't see him as a true champion. Haye by KO round 8-9.
Who is this fukking ring worm!? :haha:
Mannie Phresh is a good poster and contributes to alot of quality threads here not just in NSB where sometimes we come for a bit of light entertainment. Nobody gives a shiit about spelling and grammar its the fukkin internet man! And u mock him for comin g here and talking shiit yet u are in the very same thread going off on something completely non boxing related!? MUG
I'm sure you are all good posters lol and you also break half the rules of the site with all your ignorant cursing and ranting that nobody really wants to read. I came in the thread to watch the vid, saw the fool trying to defend himself over something he was completly wrong about, and ripped him a new one. You then decided, after seeing me diss your internet "homeboy", that you wanted to try to join in on the argument. It isn't my fault you didn't get a high school diploma, most posters that I've seen on this site use correct grammar and spelling, sorry you couldn't fit that bill. I'm not mocking him for coming here and talking trash, I'm mocking him for joining an argument with no basis and getting PWNed repeatedly, kind of like what is happening to you right now. You can keep posting on this thread for the next 5 hours IDC, because all you want is to get the last word so you can feel better about yourself because you can't seem to get a girlfriend and your dad left you at age 8. It's alright, but you won't get the last word. Ignorant attempt at a human.
