The Ali that fought Williams that is..
Would Holmes, Lewis, Frazier (before Ali prison), Tyson, Louis, Johnson, Klitschko brothers.. any guy out there be able to do it?
Quite a few tbh. Lennox, Bowe, Holmes, Wlad, Vitali, probably some others.
It feels like HWs just got significantly bigger and more juiced in the 80s/90s without losing much in skills and speed. Same goes for athletes in a lot of other sports.
They did get a lot bigger and the weight cuts and addition of cruiserweight changed things too. A lot of pre Ali heavyweights were realistically light heavyweights of today. Floyd Patterson was 189 pounds vs Liston, marciano was in the 180s. They would be matched with Bivol and Beterbiev today and probably lose.
Holyfield has a good style to pressure him. Trying to outbox him isnt going to work.
I dont think much of the old hats, the guys before his era. Marciano was 185 pounds, hes a light heavyweight.
New guys like Lewis and Fury these guys are massive and can box and use their size and power. They will always have a good chance. Prime Ali was same height as Usyk and 215 pounds.

He dominated it as much or more than Vitaly Dominated any round he had won and it didn't look like it was going to get any better for Klit.
The next round wouldn't have needed any Doctor. It would've been Vitali Knocked Out.
He had his best round but he didn't dominate. He landed a good uppercut but that was about it. Both guys were very tired. Lewis definitely didn't dominate the round.

OMG, Ali maybe athlete of the century but he was beatable even in his prime.
Any ATG Swarmer with greaaaat chin can beat him
Actually he had absolutely no significant wins at all which solidifies your true agenda.
Ernie Terrell. Which isn't all that 'significant' of a win, considering how past it he was, but he was ranked in the top 10 when Wepner beat him nonetheless, which makes it a more 'significant' of a win than any single victory that Chris Arreola has had to date.
Which = Wepner > one of Vitali's greatest career wins.
Wepner > 95% of Vitali's resume.
Wepner isn't even one of Ali's top 20 best wins
How about you get a life and stop asking people to make lists for you.
Make your own damn list moron. I don't have to prove anything to you.
In other words, you're completely incapable of backing up your laughable assertions with FACTS, and the root of your argument(s) in defense of your man-crush(es), is based mainly on emotion and blind, homo-erotic fanboy love. :greddy2: :gay:
That's cool but Vitali got the better of Lennox in that fight no matter what the cuts indicated. I don't like how everyone denies how Vitali was handling Lennox barring the unfortunate cuts.
I don't think V was "handling " him. It was a competitive fight he was up on the cards at the time of the stoppage. That said, both were exhausted but Lewis was coming on and I believe it only would have gotten worse if it had gone on considering the damage to his eye.
I don't think you are refering to me bud. I havn't changed my stance on Vitali aside from when he came out of retirement, which I knew he would eventually. He is an enigma and was beating Lennox and deserved the rematch. He didn't get it because Lennox knew he was going to get taxed again and may not get a lucky cut win again. He was going to get stopped. Oh, and Lennox being nowhere near prime is BS. He beat Tyson and looked every much his best in his previous fight.
when you rip somebody's face apart to that degree you win the fight, dude
you can go blind in there
vitali had cuts all the way down to the muscle
his face was a complete mess
lennox did that with clean and effective punching
who cares about the rounds vitali won?
who cares? did vitali's face make it to the scorecards?
if you cant protect your face from being that badly destroyed you lose the fight
vitali lost to lennox lewis
and he lost to chris byrd.
those happen to be the two best fighters he ever fought, for whatever it's worth. the amount of rounds you win means nothing if you cant make it to the scorecards.
he's still a dominant HW
he's still going to get into the HOF
he's still a great fighter
but he's been stopped twice
get over it
Yeah but I don't see the reason in trying to use that argument you know? I'm not 50 years old, so I didn't see it in person but obviously the outlets are available. I even have espn classic which happens to show all the old fights all the time. So it's like childish to go you've never seen it, specially when what I am saying isn't ridiculous like Mayweather would be untouchable against Robinson or Pacquiao would mop the floor with Armstrong.
And the Ali thing. I never said Holyfield was faster than Ali in foot or handspeed. What I was getting at was Ali's normal distinct advantage. I'm talking pacquiao-hatton like advantage of being head and shoulders faster, isn't as big of a gap against Holyfield.
And like I said. Ali would probably get punches off faster but I believe Holyfield could keep up. Whether that is by him being naturally fast or by clever ring movement. I believe he wouldn't be made a fool of by the speed disparity.
I see your point.
Fair enough.
You said what you said and that's all I'm commenting on. Frazier had a balanced attack with both hands." Left hook happy " would be David Tua who was no Frazier.
Nah, you would've been against it either way. A person who has an issue with something the way it was said would have an idea of how to have better portrayed the meaning. I could have said left hook happy, you'd still take the same stance.
You can believe what you want but when even professional boxers, fellow ATGs comment on him favoring the left hook too much. I am not the only one who believes what I do.
Strangely enough a lot of people still don't watch many fights they comment on even though it's all there for them to watch free of charge.
You'd think Boxing fans would jump at the chance of that.
Oh, and Ali is without question faster than Holyfield with both his hands and feet.

You realize this is the internet right? You can watch videos all the time. So to play the dumb ass card of "you never watched him fight before" is just stupid.
Look. I never said all Frazier does is the left hook. I said he looked to land the left hook only. Which is fucking true. Even professional boxers mention that Frazier looked too much for the left hook. You'll probably come back with some bullshit like "well, professional boxers don't always know..." yeah whatever.
And Ali does not have significant SPEED over Holyfield. HANDSPEED =//= FOOT SPEED. Holyfield could keep up, Ali could probably get off faster than him but to say Holyfield wouldn't keep up, you obviously got blinders on aka biased.
Another mainstream belief was that when the sun goes down, it was shunning the people so they needed to make sacrifices to the sun so it will come up the next day.
So, stick to your mainstream belief if you want to. All it means is, you can't think for yourself. Instead you regurgitate what others have said without knowing why they said it, just to please the people around you.
Strangely enough a lot of people still don't watch many fights they comment on even though it's all there for them to watch free of charge.

Should I have said he was left hook happy then? Would that have better portrayed what I meant?

You damn sure did say it. You said Frazier ONLY looked to land his left hook. What else could that mean?

Did I ever say he was a one armed fighter? Or did you imply that?
