Your brothers and sisters weren't 18stone of pure strength that can counter punch with speed. This ain't the amateurs. Joshua is much stronger now and much better technically. Whyte doesn't seem to have made the same gains - possibly looks a little worse if anything.
Dereck Chisora used to be a hunger brawler prepared to walk through shots in order to put his guy under immense pressure; this guy no longer exists.
I think even David Price should be able to beat the journeyman that turned up to fight Fury hoping to land 1 big right hand.
Fury did make it look easy, but if Chisora stands in front of Price like he did Fury then Price should have enough pop to keep him at bay.
I'm probably in a minority as I feel sorry for him, or anybody else in that kind of situation - spending decades considering your sexuality/gender knowing full well the humiliation and abuse you'd suffer if you went through with it or ever talked about it. Not to mention the effect it has on his family etc.
Saying that, this is a 1st world peace time problem. You don't hear about the 2nd world war vets or 1st world war vets that had a sex change operation. They just got on with life without spending the days wondering about weird **** like this, since they had other things to occupy their minds/time like being thankful they didn't die in the war or were one of the many mauled and disfigured bodies they witnessed day to day.
Saying all that, is it honestly that much of a surprise? FM was one of the worst dressed guys in the sport!

If a white fighter turned to a black commentator and said that it would be all over the news and the guys career would be over. Talk about a double standard. Black people can be proud to be black, Chinese can be proud to be Chinese, Mexicans can be proud to be Mexicans, Jews can be proud to be jewish, but a white man isn't aloud to be proud of being white or european! And that is a fact! So who's actually racist?
Oh boo flucking hoo. I'm so sorry you get a little upset over the social stigmas created by white oppression over centuries. I'm so sorry that our white ancestors raped, pillaged, enslaved, and otherwise abused most ethnicities we encountered whilst conquering the world.
I tell you what... if you can tell me you'd rather our ancestors were slaves, hung if looking at black women the wrong way, still suffering widespread discrimination especially from the police, the law etc... if you'd rather swap that with the ability to publicly congratulate your fellow white man without looking like a total d!ck then, yeah man I'm with you. How dare AB!
Floyd got saved by the bell... his legs were gone from that shot.
His legs were gone against Mosley. He's shown he knows how to fight through a tough spot. I don't think Maidana would have been able to finish it from there.
Unfortunately for Paul, even a faded Abraham will be enough to stop him. He's just not a world class or European class fighter and has done well to win a British title at that.
Before you start talking like a prick watch your mouth.....I'm English and from London ...I don't regard khan as English at all he is Muslim and Pakistani 1stly ......and 2ndly he is not liked here that much by real boxing people and I want to see him get k.o ed by pacquiao....learn geography mongo
Just because you are BNP does not mean the majority are.
Naive gameplan, pathetic corner.
Canelo with e.g. Angel Garcia in his corner, somebody who'll stick a rocket up his ass when he's not fired up, that guy might stand a chance.
Canelo with some dimwits telling him half way through the fight he needs to start winning rounds, he stood no chance.
He needed to back Floyd up and hit him anywhere. Case in point, Mayweather complained his arm was hurting. That's because he got hit there a couple of times. Imagine if Canelo did that a several times a round instead of a couple of times over the course of the fight, maybe he might've been able to start breaking Floyd down a bit and take away some of Floyd's game. Canelo was bigger, younger, stronger. That's what he needed to trade on, and use his technical skill to close distance instead of try to catch Mayweather with a big shot (which seemed to be his gameplan).
There's fighters that leave it all in the ring. Look at JuanMa vs Salido 2. JuanMa was being picked off by Salido so around round 6 he said to himself, "F it, let's see what this guy is made off." He didn't take a backward step for 3 rounds and went to war with Salido, throwing bombs until he was a spent force. There was a moment in the 8th round where you saw the fear in Salido's eyes, a kind of, "WTF is this dude made of?" That's the attitude Canelo needed to trouble Mayweather.
He doesn't have it, and he never will. Not until he cuts the sycophants and gets some guys in the corner that care more about winning than sucking up to him.
Yawn.
Groves did very little before he got sparked clean in the 2nd fght. Froch got lucky? I guess he got lucky that you fought the wrong fight and slowly but surely let him into range. Nothing lucky about that punch, just stupid boxing from Groves trying to counter a left hook with another left hook and leaving himself wide open to the straight of a hook-straight.
Balance and distance and keeping his shoulder width slightly wider than his shoulder. Terrific left hook as he pronates and brings hi soulder and back!!!
This kid will give everyone and anyone problems, no one from 47 to 68 hits like he does! If you sign to fight this guy you'd beter get in great condition and if you don't have foot and hand speed and bettr than average pop just don' sign!!!!!
...and so far no one is signing!!! I like the kid he sign to fight but I think he's over his head! Ward needs to come down to 164lbs and no one hdrates over 174, thats fare or just don't do it!!! These guys hydrating up to 16 to 22 pounds is a joke! Since when do the fighters make their own weight classes?
GGG needs the top middles if Sergio is still considered a quality guy then ring the bell!
Its a damn shamn that boxing can't utilize this guy he can box and he can punch ands thats what its about. Not watching a bunch of panzies play pitter patter on mitts and bags andthen do the same thing in their FIGHTS!!!
I'm tired of that crap, boxing is also moving forward within a boxers form and dominating your opponent by backing them up!!! Not tag your it! Ray
You can take his **** out of your mouth now Ray.
I mean, why even bring up that nobody at 47 hits like he does. He's a ****ing middleweight.
If you're going to salivate over him, try to keep it in the real world.
GGG is very good, very impressive, but let's not go over the top.
Team Fury should try to get another fight made maybe November. Stay active. Don't wait on this clown who is going to try every trick in the book to unsettle Fury.
Um... Chisora was a fat pie then robbed then lost to 2 of the best heavyweights in the world in competitive fights. His comeback wasn't so much a comeback but more of a progression.
He didn't have to glue his jaw back together after it shattered into a thousand pieces. Twice.
congats to pac for beating a lightweight ..........
Yeah, that's a great criticism of Pacman. I mean, Rios only outweighed him by 9lbs on fight night. Pacquiao must suck!
LOL How is Pacquiao winning this poll? He never beat anyone as great as Azumah Nelson or Chavez SR
The likes of Barrera, Morales, Marquez obviously were rubbish.
Prime Pacquiao throws too many hard punches in fast combinations. Whitaker would have been massively outworked and probably hiding half the fight. I would expect Pacquiao to outpoint him. Pacquiao has speed that made him far harder to fight than Chavez Sr if you're looking to make him miss then make him pay. You had to be able to tactically stand your ground and throw back without bending over or covering up - like Juan Manuel Marquez can. Pernell would spend too much time bending at the waist, his right hand tight to his chin to threaten Pacquiao's workrate.
They were the same size. Pacquiao blitzed everybody the same size as him except for Morales I and his fights with Marquez. Pernell sees the bell but not the W IMHO.
For me he got up before the count and was clearly able to continue, yes he should have gotten up earlier but that isn't a fair reason to stop the fight.
The Tiger was hurt more vs Price but they let him continue for example, bizarre ending anyway you look at it.
I agree 100%; common sense could have prevailed.
However, by the WBO rules as described, you have to be on your feet by 8. There's no other intrepration of that rule. It does not say that the referee can assess you after 10. It is explicit, after 8.
(The moron saying 'fail thread' should learn to read.)
This is what happens when people spout BS. People start questioning their own common sense!
Where's the BS? The rules are the WBO's, not mine.
It states the fighter has to be on his feet by the count of 8. Not 9, not 10. I know that's retarded, I agree it's retarded but I'm not spouting BS but quoting the rules as written.
OP I think (c) refers to the action the ref can take when the fighter is up early i.e. the ref doesn't have to let his opponent go at him immediately just because he's up.
It isn't saying the fighter has to be up by or on 8 as evinced by the later reference in (e).
No mate, you just read wrongly. You quoted clause (e) which refers specifically to being saved by the bell, not a 10 count at any other point in the round.
Clause (c) is where the referee is guided to deciding whether a contestant has beaten the count or not. Nothing else.
I think I explained the rule correctly in my posts. Its not hard to understand for me. I said it was a little vague because there are things left out and people could interpret it incorrectly if they don't comprehend what they are reading. My posts below...
The rule is a little vague. However, it does not say nor does it imply that the fighter should be up by 8.
(c) If, when reaching the count of eight (8), the fighter is up This wording suggests that the fighter doesn't need to be up at 8.
If the contestant taking the count is still down when the Referee calls the count of ten (10), the Referee shall wave both arms indicating that the contestant has been knocked out.
The ref did not do this in the fight on Saturday. He waved the fight off after saying 9. Therefore, he did not follow the rules according to the WBO.
Section (C) is addressing a mandatory 8 count. It is not stating that a fighter must be up by 8. If a fighter is up before 8, the referee must count up to 8 and then evaluate if the fighter is fit to continue. If the fighter isn't up by 8, the referee must continue to count until he reaches 10 and then he waves the fight off or the fighter rises off the canvas. If the fighter beats the count, the referee must then decide if he is fit to continue. This process did not happen correctly on Saturday.
OK; you're winning me over. I can't argue with this.
The ref didn't do (d) either. He counted to 9 and waved the fight off.
He didn't do (d) because the fighter failed to be on his feet by 8, as stated by (c). Ergo (d) did not apply.
why the f**k isn't it called the 8 count then?
I agree; it is stupidly worded. The blame for the stoppage here lies with the WBO (and Malik Scott) not the ref.
Every time they came together, dirrell just threw himself onto the floor to avoid frochs punches! Even his promoter said he needed to stand and fight more if he was going to win big fights. Good skills but zero bravery.
QFT.
Dirrell fought only the 2nd half of the fight. He did nothing in the 1st half so conceded it on negative tactics whilst Froch attempted to engage.
I can't remember my round-by-round scoring (certainly not going to watch it again) but I'd given it to Froch and mainly due to Dirrell being so negative. You can't run away like that. It's a boxing match, not a game of tag.
The irony is that Dirrell showed he was technically the superior boxer in the few rounds he actually did stuff. However he didn't want to fight, so brought the loss on himself.
Just because Froch looked sh*t, that does not mean he should have lost. You have to score it round to round, not on who you feel looks better over the course of 12 rounds.
Ghost RAPED Berto and pushed him around the ring. Ghost deserved a 3rd rnd TKO after he dropped Berto and swelled his eyes to look like E.T. Sotto is NOT the Ghost. Specially after he struggled against Bumto!
I scored that fight for Berto. Combined with Berto's left eye at least being swelled by head goring by Guerrero for which the referee gave 0 warnings, I thought Berto was kinda robbed in that fight (albeit why he's such a slow starter only he knows).
I thought Berto made a case for winnings rounds 3-11, because he landed the best shots in all of them. Guerrero fought like a dumb ass when he was winning the fight when it was long, and ate uppercuts all night on the inside.
I wouldn't classify that as being raped, despite having 1 eye thumbed and swelled shut and the other head rubbed until it shut.
Prime for prime I always lean towards Mayweather by comfortable UD.
It's a f*cking travesty this fight didn't happen, though. It seems like most people want to blame one side or the other (depending on whose d*ck you prefer the taste of), but I think it was pretty clear to most unbiased observers that neither man wanted any part of the other. Manny first turned down the tests, then when he agreed to them, Floyd started with all this irrelevant "where was Pacquiao in 1996?" bullsh*t.
F*ck both of 'em.
I think it's pretty clear to the impartial observer that Pacquiao would fight anybody, including Mayweather.
Whether you think he was on PEDs or whether you think he was offended by the accusation or whether you think Arum was puppeteering Manny (all 3 possible reasons for initially refusing the tests - to which he eventually agreed BTW), there is no evidence whatsoever to indicate Pacquiao was scared to share a ring with Mayweather.
Floyd on the other hand is a self admitted, "Rich coward."
In 2010 when the fight mattered i had Floyd winning by a wide decision, now in 2013 when Manny has been brutally knocked out by a 38 year old lightweight i see Floyd stopping him in 8 after embarrassing him
The Marquez that knocked Pacquiao out was no lightweight.
Whether you believe he achieved it by means foul or fair, he was a shredded monster and it obviously translated to power. Pacquiao who had taken the best shots from a ton of heavy hitting fighters was dropped twice in that fight, don't forget. Marquez was certainly far stronger in that fight than in the 3rd fight between them.
The Marquez that Floyd fought was a fleshy lightweight (which is what happens when you pull a fighter up 2 divisions without any time to build up to the weight).
The amount of hype Karass is getting on these forums is ridiculous.
Berto had 1 arm for the majority of that fight. If he'd seen the final bell without another knockdown, the scores are a draw.
The ultimate irony is all the people crowing over Karass' victory are the ones saying Berto was all hype.
:lol1: I'm sure Joe Rogan is thinking the same thing. Problem is putting hands on an 80 year old fat James Toney isn't quite the same thing as putting hands on one of the slipperiest boxers to ever live.
Yeah, slippery at dodging punches from somebody stood in front of him.
Kicks (longer range than punches) and grapples and hip throws etc, I'd love to see how he could handle that. Maybe expecting a 135 girl like Ronda to be able to pull it off is a stretch but in general he'd be in a pickle (and don't forget she boils down to 135 so is really more or less the same size as Floyd).
Let's see how well he moves after a few kicks on his thighs. Dead legs really have a habit of slowing people down.
In MMA, Ronda would get her non existent stand up defense demolished with a jab from a male boxer.
How's Ronda gonna engage in the clinch on a guy that moves faster than she could dream of, and has the body jab that would definitely have her curling into a ball.
If Rousey, Olympic-level at Judo in amongst all her other MMA skills, gets her hands on Floyd in this fictional fight then it is game over. This isn't boxing. You can just rush somebody and clinch and the ref won't separate them. She'd throw him to the floor (Ronda is as almost as big as Floyd don't forget) then snap his arm.
Of course Mayweather would stand a chance of knocking her out on the way in. However haven't we heard it all before from boxers? Then they get in an MMA ring and get wrestled down and submitted. Just because Mayweather is the best boxer in the world does not make him any less susceptible to it.
It's not like Rousey would have to go in straight up either, she could just shoot low until she gets it.
Of course she looks easy to hit in her fights because, well, she's up against somebody who can also kick etc very effectively as well as potentially take her down (her last fight she was supposedly the inferior wrestler).
It's like saying a Formula 1 car would always beat a 4x4, even in a muddy forest. It's retarded and shows up how ignorant boxing fans can be.
