Most accomplished southpaw floyds ever faced.
Okay I agree with that. I know i said earlier that he was able to best corley and judah but someone reminded pac is in an entirely different league. I still say floyd wins just for the sake that he is a good counter puncher, and thats what pacquiao struggles with the most. pac's aggressive come forward style will be tailor made for floyd. And if he tries to box him floyd will win that battle in my opinion. Hopefully the fight happens and we all find out.
Judah and Corley are slick southpaws, boxers. Pacquiao is aggressive one in a kind southpaw fighters who's great at giving angles to stationary or coming target. I'll give that angles to Judah though, he used it well against Floyd, that leaves us with aggression as a southpaw.
Floyd's way to fight southpaw was always backing them up and countering while staying on their face. If he plans to do the same thing against Pacquiao, then it's going to be way tougher task as backing up is just not in Pacquiao blood and he won't wait as Corley,Mitchell or Judah did.
So Pacquiao requires some adjustments from Floyd, definitely. Even if people think that Floyd can do everything what Marquez did twice as good, Floyd will still have to do something he never did in his career, as he never once let a southpaw come to him.
True but if pacquiao comes straight at floyd wouldnt that give floyd more opportunities to counter? The best thing you can do for a counter puncher is come straight him, and with that pacquiao will eat a lot of straight right hands if he does that. I think the angles will give floyd problems at first. Hell pacquiao might even stun him and knock him down. I still think he will adjust and win. I just dont see pacquiao winning given the fact that he struggles with counter punchers, and he'll be in the ring with the best in the sport. But hey who knows.
Pacs leftovers and shopworn.
Yeah thats true but pac has fought more leftovers and shopworn fighters than floyd. But you're right that would probably be the number one excuse even though Cotto is coming off a three knocout win streak. I know the fighters he beat weren't that great, but i cant recall someone coming off of two bad beatings and winning three straight fights by knock out. that doesnt seem shopworn to me.
Yes if you say so if it makes you happy. Before Pac beat Cotto, Floyd fans were quick to let the world know Cotto wouldnt ever be the same in this lifetime after the beating marge gave him.
But not before Floyd fights him, Cotto is reborn, im really trying to make you happy. Cotto looks unbeatable now at 154. If Floyd beats him, maybe Cotto should move up to 160 to breath new life into him once again.
Oh you dont have to worry about making me happy. Im not one of those fanboys who get butthurt whenever someone says something negative about their favorite fighter. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But i see what you saying. Cotto does seem unbeatable at 154. But he hasnt faced anyone close to floyd's skill at that weight. He might be in for a rude awakening, or the other way around. Thats what intrigues me about this fight.
i say cotto still has alot of fight left. yeah he lost but he didnt take a hellacious beating like he did against pac and margarito. he trained hard and gave floyd a helluva fight. it was not a walk in the park at all. that says alot because he is the first fighter since castillo in my opinion to challenge floyd the way he did. i think he is still a great champion and one of the best. i agree that he should go for alvarez since golden says he is not ready for mayweather.
anybody know of a site that you can stream the fight for free? im using firstrowsports.eu but nothing is showing up. any assistance will be appreciated.
The only time he decided to trade and actually fight, he almost got knockout.
I mean I understand that was part of his plan, but the whole fight you can see Chavez just wanted to trade. It was almost like he was waiting for Martinez's legs to get tired so he didn't run so much, but his timing was a little off.
In other words, bring back 15 rounds.
so your criticizing him for actually boxing smart? would you trade punches with a guy who outweighs you by twenty pounds? Boxing is not always about slugging it out. Its also about movement and hit without being hit. yeah thats not crowd pleasing to most but thats what boxing is. if the fight was boring it was because of chavez. its not sergios fault that his opponent failed to close off the ring and get to him besides the final round
All I'm saying is give Martinez credit. AT 37 years old he beat an undefeated, younger, bigger, and stronger champion. All this while sustaining multiple injuries. How many fighters in history have done that at that age? Not too many.
i think it would be a tough fight that floyd will win. yeah he has slowed down but that happens. he is still capable of competing against elite fighters. he proved that when he fought cotto. plus it boils down to experience. compare the different caliber of champions and styles each fighter has fought. i say floyd has the advantage. and canelo is not that much faster then cotto. i say canelo should fight cotto first and then if he beats him go for mayweather.
And plus everybody said the same thing about DLH and Cotto that because of their size they would beat floyd. look what happened to them. it wasnt pretty but he still pulled off the win. i see it playing out the same way against alvarez.
while the 1 pound isnt draining still if pac man is the greatest fighter that people claim he is then why not fight opponents at the full weight. he is not willing to take risk and put himself at a disadvantage but its okay to put his opponents in that position. thats why shake my head when people treat his victory over DLH as the best thing since sliced bread. the man was old and fighting at a weight he hadnt fought at in damn near a decade. If he's so great why not fight him at his comfort zone like floyd did. Also if he is so great why ask for a catch weight at 150 and not 154. if he is so much better then floyd then why didnt he fight him at 154 like floyd did.
you so called boxing fans say pac is the best of the era in front of floyd. the man barely beat a 38 year old blown up marquez, the same fighter that floyd schooled by the way. And he just lost to Tim Bradley, a fighter that floyd would embarrass badly. For people to call pac better then floyd is comical and i hope the fight happens so people can finally give floyd his props. and he will win because if an old blown up counter puncher gave pacquiao problems, what do you think the most skilled counter puncher in boxing today will do. Just saying.
i think 55-45 in favor of mayweather with whatever random drug testing he wants is fair. if floyd turns that down then i would say he is afraid of pacquiao. but of course floyd is not going to agree with any terms until after the marquez fight. if pac loses, which i doubt, floyd will probably want 60-40.
i give floyd the nod because the simple fact that he is a counter puncher. pac has shown that he has diffculities with these type of fighers. in three fights he has yet to win a clear decision against marquez, who is great counter puncher. how well will he do against a fighter that is younger and a far more superior boxer and counter puncher than his rival. i say pac will give floyd a little bit of trouble in the first two rounds because of his speed. floyd will adjust and pot shot him for a clear unaminous decision win.
floyd will win simply because he is a boxer counter puncher. marquez proved that as long as you can time pacquiao you can give him problems. thats why i laugh when people say pacquiao's speed would be too much for floyd. marquez wasnt faster and he was able to hit him. its all about timing and floyd is the best counter puncher in boxing today. i hope for pac's sake he gives a great performance in his next fight because if he loses or barely wins then he can forget a 50-50 split.
Pac was a legitimate challenger for three years and Mayweather avoided him at all costs like all other legitimate challenges since Castillo, and like he's going to do with Canelo as well. Now you got it straight?
Lol. Didn't Pacquiao avoid Floyd at all cost when he started asking for blood test? Didn't Floyd at one point agree to all of Pacquiao's terms as long as they did blood test? Yeah that was the first time they tried to make the fight. Also there was another moment when Floyd agreed to the fight but then Bob Arum came up with some bogus excuse about building a new arena.
Legitimate opponents? So DLH, Cotto, Hatton, Mosley, and Marquez weren't legitimate? But they were when Pacquiao fought them right? And didn't Pacquiao turn down a rematch against Cotto at 154? They said that anything above 147 would be too much for Pacquaio. But yet they fought Antonio Margarito at a catch weight of 150.
The point that I'm making is that Pacquiao has avoided opposition as well. Also fighting some of his opponents at catch weight was a way to protect Manny. Freddie Roach said this himself. How many catch weight fights did Mayweahter do? I can only think of the fight against Marquez. All his other fights he fought at the full weight limit. Also let me remind you that while Pacquiao stayed away from Cotto at 154, which he was strong and comfortable, Mayweather stepped up to the plate and fought Cotto at 154. And he did it while Cotto was on a three fight winning streak, whereas Pacquiao fought him not too long after his brutal loss to Margarito.
Case in point Mayweather fought DLH, Hatton, Cotto, Mosley, and Marquez when were either undefeated, strong, or coming off of big wins. Pacquiao fought these guys when they were pretty much sloppy seconds. Also let me remind you Pacquiao got put to sleep my Marquez, a fighter he struggled and lost to in a span of 4 fighters, whereas Mayweather schooled him in one. Mayweather is clearly the better fighter and he will be ranked above Pacquiao when both of their careers come to an end. Now you got it straight?
How did they cheat? The Everlast rep was right there. He brought the orignal gloves to Maidana and gave the blue MX's to the commission. There is video of it on ESNEWS.
So Everlast is going to risk their whole company and cover for Maidana doctoring the gloves?
yeah I saw the video and they were okay with the second set that the commission approved, as long as they had padding in it. what don't understand is you sounding upset that they said hell no when it was obvious the first set of gloves had NO padding. They were trying to pull a margarito but in reverse.
It better be with the pillows they are trying to get Maidana to wear.
They are trying to neutralize Chino's biggest strenght which is his power. Seriously wtf.
Tomorrow can't get here soon enough...... I will be so hyped and ready to watch floyd get beat senseless in gruesome/brutal fashion.
so your mad that floyds camp didn't allow maidanas people to cheat? look at the original video. there was no padding at all in those gloves. come on man don't let your hate get in the way of common sense.
I say Cotto will give a good fight but I'm going with Martinez. I think Martinez's speed and angles will be too much. I know some are banking on Martinez being rusty after not being in the ring, but sometimes a long layoff rejuvenates a fighter. We'll just have to wait and see.
but according to floyd fans margarito was exposed and shot after mosley fought him. how can the same person be a great win for cotto but a bum for a guy like pac?
i say it was a good win for cotto because he avenged a brutal loss, which was questionable due to the handwraps incident. with pac, alot of people knew that pac would completely outwork margarito. but thats not pac's fault. as a top class fighter you're gonna face opponents that you will dispose of easily. its just the way things work. i just dont think a figher should be cricticized because his skill level is far above his opponent. it just makes no sense to me.
It really doesnt matter who floyd fights because he will get criticized and excuses will be made as to why he won, as usual. i just never seen a fighter get criticized so much because his opponents fail to defeat him. how is it his fault that his opponents aren't more skilled then he is.
It's going to be Paulie. Floyd doesn't want to fight a guy who can pose a threat. Just look at his last few fights.
(Ortiz isn't that good, Cotto was shot as hell, Mosley old as hell)
Here we go with another "a fighter is shot once floyd fights him" comment. Cotto didnt seem shot when he avenged his loss from margarito and went on win two more fights in a row before facing floyd. plus he gave floyd the toughest fight he had since castillo. that doesnt seem like a shot fighter to me. theres always an excuse with floyd and it will be the same song and dance when he fights in may and when he fights canelo.
Floyd doing what he does gets to them so much that they can't hide their bitterness in threads and posts. Oh they appreciate it. They just hate it :lol1:
Strongly Agree
Pac fans are just mad because they dont want to face the fact that floyd is better then him. Their fights with Marquez were evident enough. While Floyd completely schooled Marquez for 12 rounds, Pac struggled in 3 fights and got knocked out in the 4th. While pac weight drained DLH and Cotto, Floyd went up to their comfort zone and took their belts. Plus he is still undefeated while Pacquiao isnt. Point I'm making is that Pac fans dislike Floyd because he is a threat. And given his past performances, no one with a brain can't possibly convince me that Pac can beat Floyd. But it will never happen because Pac is busy getting put to sleep by an old, past his prime marquez. I know Floyd has been criticized for beating old fighters, but at least he won. Pac on the other hand not so much.
Yeah, just take a look at the first page. They're bitter as hell. Although I'd say it's more Mayweather haters then Pac fans.
Its just crazy that a fighter is hated so much just because his opponents aren't good enough to beat him. When mayweather fought DLH, Hatton, Mosley, and Cotto nothing but criticism when he won. But when Pac wins its the best thing since sliced bread. Don't get me wrong Pacquiao is a great fighter. I just think its unfair to put him on such a high pedestal when Floyd is alot more skillful then Pac. Yeah Pac is more explosive I give him that but it takes god given talent to break your opponent down and make them look like an amateur. Floyd does that. No fighter has looked their best against Floyd. Can Pacquaio say about himself? Hell no. All I'm saying is people need to give credit where its due.
All i'm saying is that it better be a damn credible opponent.
It doesnt matter who he picks. Unless its Pacquaio no fighter is credible enough. Even he does eventually fight Pacquiao and wins, pac boys will just pull the "oh he's old and washed up" excuse. That would make no sense given Floyd is older, but haters will find a way.
