I think at this point in Mayweathers Career, with the decline, and how he looked against the Slower Cotto, Canelo gives Mayweather a beating.
Mayweather does not have the power at 154lb to slow Canelo down. Mayweather doesn't use his legs anymore, he likes to lean against the ropes to rest, while attempting to dodge bullets.
What do you guys think? I'd be surprised if Mayweather took the Canelo fight. I don't think he wants it.
For 18 years Floyd has been proving the naysayers wrong.
Taking on the younger, hungry, top contenders when everyone else keeps saying ... "He's a lot slower now", "He's ripe for the pickin'" "He gets hit more now than before" and "His legs are gone", "Age finally caught up to him" was never an easy task.
Taking almost 2 years off, twice, returning against legit title holders, then lifting their belts and titles.
He just keeps collecting names, millions, and titles on the way out of an illustrious career.
Welcome to the loser predictors' group, ya damn roll.
.
I'm sticking by with what I said even with that Floyd catch-weight of 152lb. Canelo is going to Stop and decapitate Floyd.
Mayweather will eat leather to the body all night. He will get caught lunging backwards with his hands down, good night.
Mayweather's only hope is to potshot, hold, and bicycle. Even that won't help, Mayweather will eat the canvas, I promise you.
Excellent analysis.
Doubtful Canelo lands more than 17% of his shots. Canelo tries to emulate FMJ. But that will not be enough this fight. Canelo is going to take a beating. I promise you.

Pshhh...this is just the Chavez vs. Martinez hype all over again. I'll just ignore it. I mean the most special thing about Canelo is his hair color. But that doesn't make him capabkebof being a great fighter. If his handlers thought he was that, his resume would be more reminiscent to Oscar's or Floyds when they were his age than it is to Chavez Jrs. The fact is they are building him into a money fighter and not a great fighter and that's for good reason.

I think if Alvarez was anywhere close to having the skill to beat Mayweather, GBP would have put him in the ring with Cotto, Trout, K-9 Bundrage or someone close to being a top 10 contender at 147 or 154 instead of putting him in he ring with a no-name journeyman who was fighting at 140 two fights ago. After the Paul Williams fight fell through, Alvarewz he had plenty of other quality fighters who were willing to face him and who called him out. The fact that they put him in the ring with a guy who couldn't beat the best at 140, let alone 154, is no accident.
Yer because the blue print to beat Floyd has been evident in gingers game by beating grampa Mosley, a journeyman being Ricky Hattons ****cunt brother, and a 140 pound generic fight night mexican.
Plus he beat Kermit the frog, ATG with or without Mayweather.
I think Canelo has the goods to beat Mayweather....I ROFL when I heard some guy say Floyd has faced the best lol he waited for the guys to be coming downhill and/or ducked the best real challenges!
The way Cotto was coming on in some of the rounds, I think Canelo can do better and counter Floyds Defense; catch him along the ropes and get thru his shoulder roll!
I didn't reply to this thread until now since I thought just by looking at the OP's name it was pretty obvious what this thread was.
14 pages later... here we are.
How is Mayweather going to slow down Canelo? He doesn't have the power, he doesn't throw many combinations. As I mentioned above Mayweather loves to lean against the ropes, he will eats shots all night. What "Tricks" will Mayweather impose on Canelo? Elbows?
You just gave me a great laugh on a Monday morning.... thanks!

Don't get it twisted. Mayweather was sick going into the Cotto fight. If he's anything like I an when I'm sick, then he was not as energetic as he needed to be. You can clearly hear that he was sick during the final press conference. You can see the vaseline in his nose when the ref face instructions. He had slowed down a bit but the Cotto fight could mislead people into thinking he has slowed more than he actually has. Canelo would get beat bloody and bruised. Oscar knows this. At 35 going on 36, Floyd is still fresh and sharp. He could keep any fighter on the end of his jab very easily. Canelo isn't exempt from being another victim. Let us not forget that Canelo got his bell rung by Jose Miguel Cotto on the undercard of Mayweather-Mosley. Jose Miguel Cotto was a 140lbs fighter fighter at 147. Canelo almost got KOd by him. He has progressed but not enough. He's studying Floyd's game and I can tell by the pull counter he hit Lopez with on Sat. Floyd spanks him.
Cotto. God bless him but he would lose a hard fought battle to Alvarez.
That fight would be a war.
I don't want to see that fight. I like Cotto to much to see him in a fight where he would take that kind of punishment.
I know I'll be in the minority on this one, but Floyd had a very tough fight with a frankly... and I hate to say this because I love the guy, but an over the hill Miguel Cotto.
Canelo is a younger, bigger, stronger Miguel Cotto.
Canelo still takes more punches than I would like, and thats what makes this fight interesting, because Canelo puts his punches together very well, but he has vulnerabilities and he takes his punches very well.
What impresses me most is his composure. Nothing seems to bother him or throw him off his game plan ever. I'm very impressed with the clinical precision which he goes about doing what he does.
I think the combination of Size, strength, youth, and craft might be too much for Floyd at this point in his career.
Would be nice to see Canelo against a top light middleweight first, It's about time he steps it up and if he can do great against someone like Kirkland or Cotto then he should do well against an ageing and inactive Mayweather.

here's a lil' advice bro....buy a gas mask!!!...that GBP gas has gotten to you...matching Nelo the way they do has a REASON attached to it....if Tyson Gay ALWAYS ran agianst dudes who couldn't run the 100 under 10 sec.....I bet there would be a gang of track and field fans who would say he could beat Usain Bolt....talk this when the dude in question has done something amazing against somebody currently amazing
dude hasn't done anything worth honoring but yet and still we're supposed to believe he can beat the sport's BEST?!?...why?...because of the skill difference?!?...what makes dudes think that a NOBODY can just beat Floyd?!?....get a gas mask!!!...smh
