Mine loved Frasier and he always tells me how he thought ali was gonna get killed whenever someone landed a really clean shot on him. Well he admits he was way off on his assesment of ali.
dont ask why..but i had an old beatles song playing on my computer when i looked at this and i swear it matched up perfectly....that thing is killing me. haha
Saw Holyfield vs Vaughn Bean for the heavyweight title at the GA Dome. I wish Atlanta would hve more big fights. When Holyfield came out and made his entrance to the ring the place went wild. That was the most energy and electricty ive ever felt in any sporting event.
When Max gave the chess analogy referring to Hopkins it was a Larry Merchant esque analogy....
but...
Max delivered it perfectly, it was like Larry Merchant in his prime. When they flash back to Merchant and Lamply I immediately thought about Merchants job and it being in jepoardy.
Do you realize how long it would have taken for Mechant to finish that chess anology. He has a habbit of dragging on a statement for ever....like he's trying to read something off a cue card and the guy holding the card keeps covering up the words.
had tivo so rewound it and watched it a couple of times...had taylor not been kinda backing up whne it landed he would have went down. i still think he would have gotten up though but that would have totally changed the fight. he seems to have a solid chin ..got hit prety hard a few times and didnt look " too hurt". i also think that single shot was the reason he started looking " gassed". till that point he was alot more active and after that ..hopkins seemed to take control after that
Exactly. Defense is a part of the sport too and some judges judge also on defense. Just b/c someone is busier doesnt mean they are winning the round, especially if alot of the punches are missing and hitting air. If anything most of the rounds preceding the tenth were pretty much even.
He looked ok, but it was against someone he totally outclassed. But he did what he was expected too and got the guy outta there. Two years is a long time to be off so he needed a fight to get his rust off.
He will be back better than ever i think. At least I hope so. He's one of the really good guys in the sport and there needs to be more like him.
Aren't you talking about the 80's and 90's version of foreman as opposed to the one that was beating up Frazier.
If thats the case you have:
1. Holyfield
2. Lewis
3. Tyson
4. Foreman
Now if your talking about each in their prime then of course Foreman is at the top.
Taylor was definately stunned with those shots. The punch that he landed on the 10th round was pretty loud and it had the crowd going wild, and Jermain was holding for dear life. I think Jermain and his camp knew he didn't really win because after the fight ended and prior to hearing the judges decision, Taylor had a face and body language of a person who was beated, and so was his trainer and the whole camp. I scored it 114-114 though.
I had it a draw as well. THe fighters faces at the end told the story of how they really thought the fight went. Hopkins was smiling with DLH, then he had the most shocked look on his face ive ever seen when the decision was read. On Taylor's side it was the opposite.
I don't think Taylor was hurt at all. He simply got hit & then covered up. What makes you think we was hurt? His legs weren't wobbled & he went back to his jab afterwards.
I agree that you Hopkins fans are getting desperate. And if he was hurt, SO WHAT?!?! Hopkins didn't finish him off. The kid hung in there & got the W. Get over it.
Maybe he wasn't " hurt" ..but he didnt fight the same way after wards. For whatever reason he just wasn't as agressive after that. Dont get me wrong, I like Taylor alot and think hes good for the sport. I just wanted to see Hopkins go out on a High note and who knows maybe he will still.
this a great game..about to go into double overtime....no wait....chick hit a three now this things about over. if she goes down and scores with 1.5 im gonna get angry.
Lance armstrong is a athletic god. He is literally the fitest man of all time. I am not the one saying that. The guys at the sports lab in Switzerland that have recorded athletes and their Physicsal strength and endurance said so. They have been testing sports athletes as well as regular people since 1922. Lance armstrong was the fittest man in their recorded history. Not only was he the most fittest, he was so fit that they had to motify their charts to show how much fitter he really was.
No wonder he's banging sheryl crow. he must be able to fuck like a rabbit
shut up idiot!!! i just dont like it when a guy like lance could win athlete of the year over a boxer, football player or even a basketball player. im not ignorant im just opinonated ;)
In that Nike commercial he was a boxer.
I wonder if he will have the stamina that a porn star needs....it will be embarrasing to have 2 or 3 good minutes ..then all of a sudden BAM limp dick...
Truth is there are boring boxing matches and boring ufc matches. The great thing about a UFC or Pride card is there are 5 or 6 fights and not just your typical main event and a couple of crapp undercards like in boxing. I like both. I probably like boxing better, but UFC is gaining in popularity. It will probably surpass boxing in popularity soon with all the free tv exposure.
I still will take a corrales/castillo fight anyday, but we all know how often those happen. On a side note, during UFC 54 i saw two people leave on stretchers if that means anything
i just saw the replay of matt hughes and trigg again. hughes is champ and was basically out while trigg was on top of him pounding him. next thing you know hughes is on his back and choking him out. that was pretty dramatic.
how come boxers never take the full five minutes to recover from the low blows? They always seem to want to go straight back into the action. I noticed this just recently as i was watching Benn eubank 1. Eubank was in serious pain but he just took about 45 sec before going back in.
I always wondered this too. It seems as though the ref is always trying to rush the guy back in. If i was tired and needed the break, I would tell everyone to " fuck themselves" then i would sit down in the corner and lean up against the ropes until i was rested.
Yeah, but I'm using comcast b/c of my cable modem. Fox sports network is just strange. Random programmin, nothing ever comes on in the same time slots. It might as well be a f'n college sports station. Now that I'm thinking about it, what the fuck is wrong with all these sports stations tonight....college baseball, baseball highlights, CHEERLEADING on espn. To hell with it, I just downloaded monday nights RAW and ill just watch that and see whats up with the ECW thing.
I just checked again and its on now on FSports south. It must have just come on at 11:30......WTF cant they just play the shit in its normal time slot.
Idownloaded it and have to admit that was one great fight. I wish I didnt know the outcome before I watched it though. That would have made that tenth round even better.
Only when you can drink beer and smoke cigarettes while boxing, will i ever compare the two. One requires you to be an athlete to be good, the other doesnt.
I think boxing is the most exciting overall. American Football second ( when the falcons are playing). Third maybe UFC or PRIDE. All the rest of the sports entertain me but I dont find that exciting.
It will be nearly impossible for the current flock of Heavyweight title holders to become Undisputed champ. Not for any lack of skill... it's due to promotion. I believe it has to be a young up and comer to be able to bridge the gap between these fueding promoters that don't want to face each other in fear of losing a piece of the title. I say someone like Sam Peter can do it or possibly Barrett if he can beat Rahman.
was just about to say that. if they were all forced to fight, it could be anyone. however, unless one promoter has every fighter in his stable there will never be a unified champ out of that group.
