The shit head actually said "Larry Merchant in his prime" Where do these ignorant mutants come from? I'll tell you what, it really fucking hurts when you get put down by a couple of members like Rice775 and Devil, these guys have been making posters look bad for a long while and I guess it was fianlly my turn...nice work guys! Now for reality dipshits, Merchant in his prime was more of a joke, what I meant was or I should say what you guys failed to understand was the referance would be comparable to a young Larry Merchant, ya know kind of like Max Kellerman now as opposed to in 50 years. Ignorant Mutants come from all over, in this case this mutant hails from Seattle, if you guys are ever in the neighborhood you will have to let me know...maybe we could talk some boxing or something...that would be pretty cool!

He's definitely calmed down with his fanboyism and biased rants. Damn I remember when he used to practically admit to wanting to have Zab Judahs baby...he did that with Tyson too. He does know his shit though, and he brings a young and energetic voice to the table that fans in the 15-40 age demographic can relate to. You can't honestly like Merchants slow, drunken riffs now. I mean come on, his analogies used to be humorous but now he just doesn't even make sense. He's almost worse than Dennis Miller. Hell yes. Larry is the best. The guy has been around for decades and knowsmore about boxing than anyone else on TV. He's also not afraid to call it like he see's it. He wont kiss ass and for no one.

When Max gave the chess analogy referring to Hopkins it was a Larry Merchant esque analogy.... but... Max delivered it perfectly, it was like Larry Merchant in his prime. When they flash back to Merchant and Lamply I immediately thought about Merchants job and it being in jepoardy. Do you realize how long it would have taken for Mechant to finish that chess anology. He has a habbit of dragging on a statement for ever....like he's trying to read something off a cue card and the guy holding the card keeps covering up the words.

No I agree, but he can do a great job as a pre fight/post fight analyst like Bob Costas. I didn't care for Costas' comment about "big words", regarding Kellerman and Lampley. He implied that the majority of boxing fans are idiots, and that Kellerman and Lampley are exceptions. Three words, four syllables..."fuck you Costas".

Kellerman does not belong at ringside doing color for a fight. No I agree, but he can do a great job as a pre fight/post fight analyst like Bob Costas.

I certainly hope not. While Kellerman is annoying as hell to me, he is knowledgeable about the sport and is well suited as post and prefight hype man. He is not a good blow by blow man. Kellerman does not belong at ringside doing color for a fight.

I never really cared for Kellerman but he did do pretty good in the last two ppv's. I don't think Merchant is going anywhere though until he decides to retire. He's been with HBO for too long for them to just kick him out. Max is a boxing fan and for years he has had these talk shows that don't talk about the sport he loves. Thats why I think HBO is perfect for him. Kellerman should be talking about boxing, thats what he does best. :cool:

He's really shown his stuff the last 2 PPV's for HBO. You can tell when he's with HBO he turns down the schtick and just plays it straight. Larry is awesome...anyone who thinks otherwise has no respect for their elders. Who gives a shit if he's drunk or disoriented on occasion. It's entertaining and I look forward to it. HBO broadcasts are unique because they represent 3 entirely different generations (George Foreman is a figure unlike any), and Merchant has been around for decades. You can't replace that, no matter how articulate you are. It will be a sad day when Merchant is no longer on the air. Lampley is a good fit because he allows for the other two's input. Kellerman's just trying to make a name for himself...he doesn't know when he's mades his point and should SHUT THE FUCK UP. I like him though, but he's no Lampley replacement. Why do we listen to these guys anyway, if not for entertainment? I, at least, try to score the fight regardless of who they're sometimes blatently biased against a particular fighter. Ever listen to a fight without sound? If not, you should try it. Merchant rules.

Merchant is so funny. He's so out of this world with his references to just about anything. Yeah your right Max isn't a great blow-by-blow guy... You only need one blow by blow guy. MK can give a lot to the broadcast with his insight and commentary.

I can't speak for your taste, but he's better than a drunken and incoherent Merchant, and a distrasting subject dwelling Lampley. HBO has gotten worse and worse in the last few years.
