i'm calling bullshit. ESPN just didn't want to invest the $4K to get english commentary. That is why they decided last minute to cancel the broadcast. technical issues LOL
whoever thinks Pascal draws in Montreal is mistaken. People here hate Pascal. There were 10,000 people for Pascal-Diaconu I and a good 75% were there for Diaconu.
His mandatory vs Branco sold only 4000 tickets. I know that is a lot for US televised events, but in Montreal that number is just awful.
I spoke to Dave Spencer from ********* yesterday at the weigh-in and according to him the promoters are giving away tickets to this rematch fight.
The only solid draw in Montreal or Quebec City for that matter is Lucian Bute.
The fighters did clash heads quite a bit, especially in the later part of the fight as they began to fall into each other with increasing frequency. As a result there was lots of mid-round 'hand-shaking', and probably the most odd thing of this fight, was that they actually did alot of mid-round HUGGING, not clinch-hugging, but apologetic-hugging after a clash of heads. It was straight up weird at some point and you could tell the ref was equally disturbed as the audience, and he didn't really know how to deal with the excessive pseudo-homosexual behavior of the fighters! Like right after a ref break, instead of going at each other, the fighters held out there hands, then slowly embraced each other chest to chest for a period of 3 to 5 seconds, and this occured at least a half-dozen times in the fight. WTF?!?
:ugh:
Has anyone ever seen any footage of this guy?
you really are ****ing dumb, your post was an epic fail.
no doubt. what do you think mick would offer Bute to come to Nottingham for unification?
I have heard Bute gets min $500,000 per fight now
there's some kond of tourney going on live..

sorry, Bat...thanks for the rbr!!!
Yeah bro I heard that...the boxing public are right though Kessler does need to step it up...sure hes only 29 but he has said in the past he will only have a handful more fights as hes made enough to live comfortably on...and that was before the Sartision fight...so times a ticking...Larsen would be a mistake but would makem both a nice payday...Kessler would totally outclass him tho and its a pointless match...the resume isint looking to good as of late for him.
agreed. without Saueland and the IBF (#15 contender) Larsen is begging Kessler for a match. But now Larsen's got leverage...a Bute fight in Denmark...see how clever the Germans are? LOL
yes lol...bloody crouts LMFAO.
but yea Bute will take this one...he needs a good hit out and an easy win after the Andrade episode...look I didint see the fight but the way I see it is he made it through all those rounds with a very very tough bloke in Andrade.
Kessler and Abraham is mouth watering too as the americans are starting to pay attention to Abraham after the Miranda episodes...shame Kessler didint take that route...he woulda smashed Miranda IMO
Kessler is already a star. In Denmark, Canada and the US. he doesn't...and never needed....miranda to prove that.
It doesn't matter in the end....your boxer proved that even with millions of dollars he has in the bank, he can still get motivated enough to train for weeks knowing everyone expected him to take out Haussler the way he did. And he did. And all is spoken of is how weak Haussler is. Boxing is a cruel sport.
as much as i love Manfredo, this is a terrible fight for him to take. he's showed time and again how badly he performs vs. pressure fighter who can hit a little...poor him...Bika KO4
I hear Palle wants to put Kessler against Larsen, but Sauerland wants Larsen vs. Bute in Denmark because they got a TV deal in Denmark and are competing vs. Palle over there. Not a bad deal for the Bute camp if Mogens is unsuccessful.....some Danish exposure while at the same time setting the stage for bute vs. kessler some time in the future if Bute gets gy Larsen
well i would say he is not in the level of te first 3 you mentioned.....Bute and Mudine???i think theyre not unreachable for Manfredo...
Manfredo is one fight past his expiry date, and could never compete with bute or Mundine (which would be one HELL of a fight). maybe you've had one too many :beerchug:
I agree with you, and that's the reason why I say there wasn't a good or a bad decision for the ref. There are valid arguments by both sides in this situation.
exactly why it's the rules' fault. there should never be valid arguments by both sides in a fight of such magnitude.
Of course there are holes in the rule. The problem is that there are holes in 90% of the rules and laws. We just don't know until something nobody thought about happens. And to be honest, it is impossible to think about every possibility. We just have to live with that, unfortunately.
agreed. but you will agree also that rules that could affect a boxer's security must be looked at first....you seem to downplay this crucial element by citing percentage of regulations that have holes in them. security and well being must be primordial. and in this case, the ref has too much discretion to play with a boxer's life. especially if one is from his hometown!
think of how much could have been avoided with a rule like "contestant must be within 2 feet of the neutral corner when knockdown occurs"....or if Commissions would mark lines of demarcation at each corner where the contestant must retreat and cannot traverse when a knockdown occurs.
Second, add to rule 6 that the contestant must rise "unaided by any object or person".
Andrade lost the title because there wasn't enough words in rule 6. Bute retained it because there were too few.
This said, I can't believe he got up at 8. Phenomenal. Rocky moment...and he never got props.
I feel for all you Andrade fans. The ref was incompetent and his inexperience really showed. But he didn't lose that fight for Andrade...his strict interpretation of Rule 6 did...and for this I blame the IBF rules.
Rule 6 trumps the rest of the knock out/technical knockout literature in the IBF rules. That's the problem. Rule six has to be rewritten. This said, Bute won the fight, but only because of an ambiguous rule that if repeated could kill a fighter next time.
Right, but if it was possible to eliminate every single grey area, there would be no courts at all! And I wouldn't be studying law!!
studying law? then you know how many holes rule 6 not only has...but creates!
I am so on the fence about this one. Librado deserved better than losing on a technicality. he took everything bute threw at him and the difference between knock out and knock down and knock out and technical knockout, and standing 8 count, and standing up with gloves off the floor....beat him that night, not bute....
The reason why the downed fighter doesn't have to be fit to box is that he can't suffer more punishment until the next round. So he has time to recover and if he can't, his corner can stop the fight. That rule doesn't put him in immediate danger. That being said, I wouldn't be unduly upset if it was rewritten.
I agree 100%, but the problem I have with this rule is that the ref knows it...and towards the end of the fight he can become more lenient, saying to himself...well....he's won 10 of 11 esily....all he has to do is get by the next 30 seconds. should i take the title away from him??? this reasoning is happening in split seconds. any way he applies it will create controversy. i can jsust imagine how many things must go through the refs mind
He's getting pretty beat up
this kid is looking pretty bad
arms are down. gotta think about stoppage
but the clock is winding down, and all he has to do is get up
shit, andrade's really got him cornered.
bute's down...do i start the count or wave it off? rules say he's ok if he stands up...any way.....there's no time left.
what do i do
stop it and i can get mauled
wave it off....but what if bute, who won 10 rounds of 11, can make it to the bell?
is Andrade out of his corner? bute went right to the neutral corner with his arms around the ropes when i called that slip a knockdown...what's andrade doing
etc.
All that and lots more in like 20 seconds time. Didn't matter though...Bute got up, and according to the half-assed written rules he's the winner.
IBF president Muhammad said publicly that the ref did his job, there was NO controversy, and GBP will have to produce way more to the IBF than the dvd copy of the fight they provided.
