How can this even be doubted? Marciano was good, but Mayweather had so many wins that were better than any win on Marciano's resume. What does an old Louis mean compared to wins like Pacquiao and Corrales?
Cuz Vitali isnt those things, other than the iron chine part and taller. It would be worse that the Lennox fight. Foreman in his prime was a different kind of beast. You are comparing a top 5 heavyweight of all time to maybe a top25 heavyweight. Foreman would land combos right on his face, and hits harder than Lennox. Who has Vitali beat that would make it seem he has more skill?
Did you see Foreman's fight against Ali? Vitali is much more skilled than Foreman, it's not even up to debate. Vitali has a pretty average resume and while he is not exactly a Mayweather or Ward, you could obviously see that he was a skilled fighter in the way he fought.
Foreman did more with his career than Vitali and Foreman is rightly regarded as a bigger legend than Vitali, but head to head, I don't see anyone except Lennox Lewis beating Vitali in boxing history (yep, I consider Lewis the H2H best heavyweight in history).
I predict brutal violence.
In terms of the result, either Vitali on points or Foreman by stoppage, could be cuts or KO.
It would be a clash between titans.
If it was Wladimir i would of said early KO, Foreman beats up Vitali till the Ref stops it
But how would Foreman beat up a guy who is not only taller, faster, more skilled and has an iron chin, but is also a very powerful puncher? Foreman wouldn't be able to walk through the punches like nothing.
Let's all be honest. Regarding power, no heavyweight in history is on the same level as George Foreman. And regarding chin, then I don't see Vitali or George knocking each other out, no matter who has the better chin. Both are very powerful and both got iron chins, but they would both have to be very careful in this fight, so I see it turning out to be a decision.
Vitali is taller and faster and he got better skills, which really is quite obvious. So I see him taking a decision. It's also a matter of stylistic matchup.
Vitali still living off being competitive before getting stopped by past prime Lewis. :nonono:
If prime Foreman fought that Lewis he'd stop him early.
Is there any shame in getting stopped by Lennox Lewis? Cuts happen and Vitali received a brutal cut from a perfect punch from who is likely the best heavyweight ever, even if past it and out of shape. Vitali simply wasn't ready for that level yet, as his defense wasn't good enough. He concentrated too much on attacking. But we should never use that fight to talk badly about Vitali. Instead, we should use it to talk good about Lewis.
Well, at least we can all agree on him being pretty inconsistent. He is certainly an interesting boxer. I have seen a similiar case with Glen Johnson, who also had some good wins among the losses over the years.
McGregor isn't a boxer so it shouldn't even count as Mayweather's 50th win any more than Mayweather beating Big Show. Marciano set the record by beating high quality boxers. His respected, long standing record shouldn't be broken by a side show type fight that Mayweather can't possibly lose. Mayweather would be taking zero risk so he would deserve zero reward regardless of how old he is or how much you love him. This fight is a terrible idea and I am reasonably sure it won't happen although it could possibly happen.
Marciano's best win was an old and shot Louis who himself had no impressive wins on his resume. Mayweather got a much better resume.
I think this fight is a great idea. I don't want to see Mayweather risking his record at this age, he deserves win #50 and this is a good way to do it moneywise.
Worst thing is he got falsely convicted because of a gold digging whore who had
made several false rape allegations in the past.
Yeah, that sad event took a lot out of Tyson's career.
glen johnson won fighter of the year in '04... he was lineal champion of the world. the champoin of the world isn't a journeyman.
he may have started his career as a journeyman, but once you make your way into contention, and become a lineal champion, you are a contender and a champion forever.
Well, in that case, then Johnson and Young are probably what should just be referred to as "very inconsistent champions".
Mayweather is better than Marciano
Mayweather is greater than Marciano. Now, I know that Marciano is white, a legend and got a higher KO percentage, but when looking at the quality of their opponents, then one may wonder how Marciano is even mentioned in the same sentence as Mayweather. Mayweather got wins like Pacquiao and Corrales, Marciano got nothing compared to that. It's just not fair to rate the less accomplished fighter higher than the more accomplished fighter.
Until he either fights Lara, Golovkin, Saunders or Jacobs, no one should care about him. He got tons to prove, especially after his cowardly escape from Golovkin.
"waaaah........it's not fair.......... waaaaaah"
The people have spoken. Marciano > Floyd.
Marciano KOing Joe Louis (greatest heavyweight of all time) >>> Floyd's whole joke career.
Joe Louis was old. But fine, smart guy, let's talk Joe Louis. Tell me who he defeated to be the greatest ever? And I don't care about how many he defeated or how he easily he did or for how long he went without losing, if such things mattered to me, I would consider Wilder the best ever. I'm only interested in 1 thing. WHO has Louis defeated among good names? And don't give me some 50-11-3 kinda opponents, lol.
