Floyd continues to carry himself like a straight jack ass. When is this dude going to buy some CLASS with all that money he brags about? I guess he felt the need to impress Ray J or something.
I don't get how Floyd can act like boxing ain't shit, when it was boxing that made him a rich man. Would Floyd be rich doing something else outside of boxing? I seriously doubt it. He'd be a mail room clerk somewhere, fukin up everybody's mail.
Dude needs to be humbled real soon...
That so-called number is grossly overstated. It was a close fight that could've gone either way. People like to say if Oscar hadn't run he would've won the fight. Wrong...if Oscar hadn't run he would've got KO'ed.
Saying Oscar would have gotten ko'd is speculative. I could easily say if Oscar hadn't run so much and really sat down on his shots, he would have ko'd Tito.
Oscar definitely acted like a coward that night, but he still laid the blueprint on how to beat Tito. You can't take that away from him.
Mayweather could crack at 130.....
His power was below average for a Jr. Lightweight. It was his speed and defense that set him apart.
I'll never forget CARLOS GERENA screaming out in the middle of the ring "No punch" as he ate Mayweather punch after Mayweather power punch.
He never got Manfredy off his feet. He never got Genaro off his feet. He couldn't put a dent in Carlos Rios (a nationally televised fight), he couldn't put a dent in Carlos Hernandez either. Shit, he didn't take Jesus Chavez off his feet either.
The Corrales fight was the first fight where Mayweather ever showed a modicum of power...
Forreal. He pretty much stopped everyone there.
Made Hernandez quit on his stool.
Stopped Manfredy in two.
Knocked Corrales down five times and stopped him in ten.
LOL! None of those fighters were counted out. With the exception of Manfredy, they were all stopped by their corners. And in the case of Manfredy, he was stopped by the ref.
I'm sure anyone that witnessed the Manfredy-Mayweather bout remembers the raging Manfredy crying foul all night long.
Like I said, Mayweather was the fastest and baddest mofo the Jr. Lightweight division had seen in some time; however, his power at 130 was well below average.
All those fighters have one thing in common...they were naturally bigger than Tito and could not only outbox him, but could outmuscle him. Tito wasn't Antonio Margarito.
You may have a point about the size differences, but lets not forget the number Oscar was doing on him.
If it wasn't for the ropes Manfredy woulda spilled Larry Merchant's Jack & Coke.
LOL! That was a funny ass TKO.
The GOAT was obviously outclassed, but he should have been given a chance to go out on his back.
the sad thing is this...
floyd aint got the balls to face.. the top welters right now.... so theres no ****ing way he would have faced tito.. if they were fighting in their primes at the same time.
How can you honestly question any boxer's balls? Do you know how much balls it takes to get into a ring? If you've never stepped into one then your answer should be no.
Floyd is retired. Obviously in the latter half of his career he was more about money than pleasing the fans and fighting EVERYONE we wanted him to fight. He was smart for doing it too...
If you followed Floyd's career at all in the 20th century then you'd know the kid had balls the size of Margarito's head.
For him to even be fighting in any division above 147 was absurd. The guy couldn't crack an egg at 130, yet he moved all the way to 154 and beat De La Hoya.
And you're questioning his balls? WOW!
When I think more and more about this matchup, I really see this as one of Mayweather's most one sided fights.
Tito's hands were not all that quick and he rarely counterpunched. This is a horrible matchup for Tito.
Laying the blueprint is one thing. Doing it is another. Oscar didn't do it. He lost because he ran, cried robbery than ran again when he heard the words rematch.
Ok, fine. That all might be true. However, Floyd easily defeats Tito at 147.
Mayweather would beat Tito's ass every single round of the fight (except for maybe the opening "feel out" round).
Tito had to plant his feet to land his crushing shots. Mayweather would be in constant motion and when they got near the ropes, Floyd would just tie him up and spin him around (like he did Hatton).
Tito was brutalized by three slick African American boxer-punchers: Hopkins, Winky and Roy. You can most definitely add Mayweather's name to that list (if this fight were real).
Floyd beats prime Kostya with ease at 140.
When Kostya fought Ricky Hatton he was not shot and Ricky beat that @ss.
I also remember Kostya struggling with Sharmba Mitchell (first fight), Oktay Urkal and of course, Vince Phillips who ko'd him in brutal fashion.
Kostya had little to no head movement and his defense was poor.
Floyd Jr. would have won this fight easily.
We all witnessed Floyd go up to 154 and beat Oscar De La Hoya.
Kostya at 140 poses a lesser threat than Oscar at 154. Floyd all the way... and by TKO.
I don't understand how or why people could still question Floyd's chin even into the man's retirement. LOL!
No matter how good one's defense is, at some point and time, he will get hit by his opponent.
Sweetpea had superior defense to Floyd Mayweather and Sweetpea was floored many of times in his career.
Floyd's chin was outstanding.
I saw him eat a Chico Corrales hook without flenching. I remember in the first fight with Jose Castillo, he ate a left hook to the head and follow up left to the body. Floyd was actually frozen for a split second, but then he snapped out of it.
Judah hit Floyd with a few bombs in the early rounds of their fight and Oscar landed some nice shots as well.
If Floyd had a Judah chin, he would have been KTFO more than once.
styles make fights mate, kostya's kryptonite was high pressure fighters, but he did well against guys who danced and moved (judah, mitchell)
but even in both his losses, he still did OK. against phillips he was weight drained ( he had trouble making jww in the late 90's but he improved his diet after this fight and made it easier) and poorly motivated.....and against hatton he was old, had no motivation, and plus ricky got away with frigging murder, hitting tszyu low, hanging off him and not letting kostya actually box, turning it into a bloody wrestling match.......but against floyd the ref did his job
I don't think I've seen more excuses in one post in my entire life. My God!
uM dELA wasnt the best at 154...
Mosley isnt a Floyd leftover.....but Dela is a Mosley left over....:slap:
At the time Floyd fought him, De La Hoya was the best at 154. Hell, De La Hoya can move back up to 154 right now and still be the best.
If DLH wasn't the best, in your eyes, then who was? Sergio Mora? Vernon Forest? Ike Quartey?
Please.
Floyd's resume at Welterweight was solid.
At the time Floyd entered the WW division, Zab Judah was the legitimate and linear WW champion. Not Miguel Cotto. Not Antonio Margarito. Not Paul Williams. Not Ray Robinson.
After a tuneup against Sharmba, Floyd immediatley signs to fight the #1 guy in the division. Zab Judah.
Judah loses a tuneup. Floyd fights him anyway and beats him.
Floyd fights the guy that beat Judah in his very next fight and beats him.
He then moves up to 154 and fights the very best in that division, De La Hoya.
He then drops back down to 147 and beats the very best at 140, Ricky Hatton.
He retires.
I don't have a problem with that. He took care of business.
Cotto built his name on Floyd LEFTOVERS. Honestly, Cotto still hasn't proved he's the man at 147.
Once he beats Margartio and Williams then he can take his place on the throne.
I am a Cotto fan that i will admit, this is my version.
Beats and average Welter at best in Sharmba Mitchell..
Beats Judah on points who was a good Welter so thats one good welter he has beaten so far
Carlos Manuel Baldomir one dimensional fighter and an average welter in my opinion..
Struggles to beat a shot de la hoya which the forbes fight proved he was...
Then fought Ricky Hatton who is never a welter weight but an overrated light welter
By my calculations thats one good welterweight that he has beaten which proves my point..
He was not that good at welter
How do you know De La Hoya was shot? Who shot him? LOL! Did Steve Forbes KO De La Hoya in brutal Roy Jones fashion? I don't think so.
Oscar is not and was not a shot fighter.
You're also not taking into consideration that Floyd Mayweather is a very small fighter. He walks around at 150. That means he could easily fight at 135/140.
In his first fight at 154 he goes after De La Hoya? Are you kidding me? If Cotto had did that, Felix Trinidad would have to worry about his legacy in Puerto Rico because Cotto would be KING.
Hatton and Mayweather are virtually the same size with Ricky probably being naturally bigger. Where do you think that FATTON name came from?
Mayweather waxed his ass in jaw dropping fashion at 147. Come on man, people have to learn to just give fighters their props and move on. Excuses are for losers.
what is all this threat talk? what is this? every boxer who enters the ring is a threat.
i don't understand all this he didn't fight a threat talk... that sounds dumb.
Why not fight Hatton at 140 and become the lineal champion in TWO weight classes..? why make HAtton come up? why do you say such things?? :slap:
why would he fight hatton at 140 when he previously fought at 140 and hatton wouldn't fight him there?
i know u remember the comments coming out of hatton's mouth when floyd was at 140. hatton always said he wasn't ready for mayweather or he was a fight or two away from being ready.
he opened his piehole after the castillo fight and mayweather told him to bring his ass up to 147, if he finally feels ready.
hatton, to his credit, manned the f*** up and took floyd on at 147. floyd busted his ass, end of that story.
i don't understand why it's so hard to give the man his props. he started at 130, hatton started at 140.
mayweather might not have had the greatest welter reign of all time, but his run at 147 was solid.
mayweather true weight class however was 130. judge him there.

LMAOO!
Jim Grey look like TOUCAN SAM!
I don't know if anybody remembers when that WWF wrestler (David Schultz) slapped the sh** out of that ABC reporter a few years ago, but I'd love to see that happen to Jim Grey.
Matter of fact... I'd like to see Jim Grey in an UFC ring with Anderson Silva. I'd like to see Grey remained LOCKED even after he taps out.
"If Pacquiao wins then Mayweather isn't as great as people make out."
This has to be one of the more illogical statements I've ever read on this message board.
This fight has nothing, nada to do with Mayweather-DLH. If Pacquiao wins then I guess Tito Trinidad, Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins aren't as good as we thought either.
Sometimes it's really better to think about what you say before you just write whatever thought enters your brain.
Mayweather beat DLH at 154 in his first fight at 154. That was a great feat; however, that fight was it's own entity. Pac can KO DLH with the first punch he throws and it will have no effect on how good Floyd Mayweather was.
The reason this question is brought up is due to the enormous size disadvantage Pac is facing. When Floyd faced Oscar, Floyd was only coming up from 1 weight class (147) at a weight that he showed he can be a force at. Floyd started his career at 126, while Pac started at 106. Pac's last fight was at 135, which was his one and only fight at that weight. He's completely skipping 140 and going straight to 147 to fight against a guy who will most likely come in around 160 on fight night. Given those physical disadvantages, if Pac can win in a decisive manner, of course people are going to question Floyd's performance vs Pac's.
All of what you say is logical and true; however, I don't think this fight has anything to do with the boxing greatness of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Sure, if Pacman kos DLH then he definitely deserves more credit than FMJ. I can get w/that program. However, Floyd proved his greatness before and after he fought DLH.
I'd take Williams by KO.
Williams applies just as much pressure as Margarito. He's also bigger than Margarito and looks to hit just as hard (if not harder) as Margarito.
Cotto would start out fast, but he'd get overwhelmed again.
Why does he have to bring color up in boxing?
If you aren't bothered by his comments, then you are somebody who doesnt care if skin color is an issue in boxing.
Most of us hardcore fans do not want to hear that crap.
Skin color has been an issue in boxing long before Bernard Hopkins was even born. LOL!
Remember Jack Johnson?
Also, I don't hear "boxing fans" crying when certain Mexican boxers and fans say stuff like "We have the biggest hearts."
Why is there not an UPROAR?
He was still implying that he felt blacks should be somehow superior.. to me he is a racist. No matter how "intelligent" he tried to make himself be he lets his true colors fly when put under pressure. That's the same reason he called some latino guy "Pedro" on a radio station without knowing his name and the reason he threw the Puerto Rican flag. I dunno about you but if it's your own flag do whatever you want to it, it's your flag.. but I wouldn't let a foreigner disrespect my flag in that way. He would of been had his knee caps broken and I would have made sure he couldn't ever fight again.
How is Hopkins a racist? He talks shi* about everybody. When he fought Tito, he threw down the flag. When he fought Joe, he made the whiteboy comment. When he fought Jermaine Taylor, he referred to Jermaine as an "UNCLE TOM".
It's who Hopkins is... he doesn't care who he disrespects. He's a bully. His motto is "if you don't like what I said, do something about it".
It's really that simple. He's not a racist though.
