how you argue with them? Easy you send them the youtube footage of butterbean knocking out and destroying most of his MMA competition. Butterbean is 15-7 in MMA which is a very respectable record there.
Then you send them the video of Ray Mercer annihilating 6'8 280lbs multiple time world UFC champion Tim Sylvia in about 20 seconds of the start of the fight with a brutal punch to the face. And by the way don't use the excuse Tim Sylvia was "shot" or anything because he's fought 3 times since the Ray Mercer fight and won all 3 fights by KO....so Mercer annihilated a legitimate UFC champ.
So all this **** with Toney/Couture, it only equalizes UFC back to 1-1 with boxing in regards to that. They have Toney/Couture, we have Mercer/Sylvia. It's only equal now so MMA fans shouldn't rejoice too much. When Mayorga gets his license back to fight in MMA, if he hopefully does, then we'll see another 2-1 lead for boxing when Mayorga destroys his ****ty UFC opponent.

185 lbs Akiyama (in his MMA debut) vs. Botha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOSEw5C_nVM
Erikson vs. Skelton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAIgNhVT3Zs
- Skelton was K1 fighter at that point, but after losing to Erikson he wen't to boxing, and even fought for world title against Chagaev.
Now all this MMA vs. Boxing is stupid, two sports. Elite MMA fighter wins 99% of fights under MMA rules, elite boxer wins 99% of fight under boxing rules (there is always 1% chance for upset like it or not).
Apples and oranges.
Street is street, totally different rules. Rarely there is one on one fighting, you need to watch your back all the time, no one is fighting by the rules. The sooner you knock them out, the better.
In the street, grappling won't help you as much as good boxing will. It's a street fight, not sanctioned fight under rules, knock them out ASAP.
Now if there's was a street fight between a boxer and MMA fighter, one on one, no outside interference, no knives and **** MMA fighter would win 9/10 times. But the way street fights are going these days, it's better to know boxing.
for one since you said they kickbox you can show them this vid of shannon briggs (boxer) destroying some guy at k-1 kickboxing
...
then you can show them former mma fighter don frye getting beat by a boxing coach in a street fight
...
but it probably wont make a difference because most guys that watch ufc dont give a rats ass about mma the sport they only care about ufc fights.
so anything else besides ufc is insignificant
so enjoy eating crow for a while:blackeye:
Actually, Briggs KO'ed Tom Erikson (Wrestler and MMA fighter) in fight under K1 rules.
i'm praying that if there's a god in heaven he'll give toney the strength just this one time to outmuscle and choke out that damn skill-less MMA redneck and embarrass the mma world. i will cry tears of joy if that happens
If Toney chokes out Couture, that would be a BJJ move. So what would that exactly proove for boxing?
Anyway, Toney is working on wrestling, grappling, knees + his boxing = James Toney is MMA fighter not just pure boxer. If he want's to proove boxing > MMA then he shouldn't have done any MMA training. Now he can only proove MMA fighter with great boxing and good defensive wrestling skills > MMA fighter with great wrestling and really bad boxing.
Tell Tim Sylvia that...
Tell that to Francois Botha who got armbared by 185 judoka Yoshihiro Akiyama in both fighters MMA debut (not to mention it was first time Akiyama fought in match with actual punches allowed).
Or to Rubin Williams, a journeyman who got embarassed by Sakuraba (who is more shot than Roy Jones Jr.). Find the fight on youtube.
Or to Matt Skelton who after getting embarassed in MMA debut turned to boxing and even fought against Chagaev for world title.
GTFO.
You homosexual MMGAY fans keep talking about the "POTENTIAL" brutality of your sport.
TELL ME......When has there ever been a 'limb ripped off" in the UFC??????
You jokers are delusional. Your sport is for girls.
Palhares - Drwal
Cantwell - Al Hassan
Those two are the last one i remember. Look for in some streaming sites.
Dana White @danawhite
Nevada state athletic commission at its finest!!! Youve for to be ****ing kidding me!! that is disgusting Nevada state athletic commission!!
Dana White @danawhite
Worst athletic commission in the country!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like your post. So as long as it's a non-title fight, it's alright but if it is a titled fight (approved by the division/commission), the sh!t then hits the double-standard fans?
Sorry to disappoint you but roidy did not invent catchweight. Sorry to disappoint you still but the fight was OFFICIAL meaning the commission or whothehell/whatever "approved" it so if you want to change the world and wish for world peace, good luck and more power to you.
Title fights make you legend sometimes, make you a division champion, a best at that weight class. Non title fights are just that, non title fights that won't make you a legend or best at some weight class.
Money can approve anything, it still doesn't make it right. To be a junior middleweight champion fight at junior middleweight weight limit.
To me Pacman will always be a 6 division champion who beat some great fighters from bigger weight classes and that's it.
If you feel you are to small to fight at some weight class and be competitive, don't fight at that weight class.
Purpose of weight class is that fighters have even playing field when it's time to fight. Also, that there are specific weight divisions for fighters to win titles at, the latest being 154 lbs.
If someone weighs 150 for a title fight at 154 that's his choice to weigh at (he is within weight limit 147 - 154), i have no problem with that.
But when someone calls himself a 154 lbs champion in a fight which was made at catch weight, i call that a BS title win.
Pacquiao won 154 lbs title at 150 lbs catch weight, he won't defend it against legit and proven 154 lbs fighters and he will be forever known as 8 division champion? That's like spitting in the face of fighters who actually won 154 lbs title at that weight class, not some BS catch weight just because they have the fame to make it.
Floyd's 154 lbs title win was way more legit than Pacman's. Floyd actually won it at 154 lbs clash against 154 lbs champion, unlike Pacman who took it at catch weight against fighter who's latest wins are very questionable due to the hand wraps and wasn't even ranked at 154.
i loved JMM vs FMJ fight :boxing: it was... at catchweight :boxing:
Yeah, but it was a non title fight. There's a slight difference between a title fight and non title fight.
agree mate!
And Penn's style isn't? He is street fighter, he started doing BJJ to learn new stuff for street.
Street is much more different than a ring, or cage.
Pacman has no chance against PBF, he will win 3 rounds at best.
Floyd is to skilled for Pacman, to fast and just to good... Cotto did good when he boxed instead of fighting, imagine what Floyd will do to Pacman. Not even a competitive fight.
double homicide  HAHAHHAHAHA
I hope Toney pulls of the biggest upset in MMGAY history
Off all fights at HW in UFC, Couture is best match-up for Toney.
His double leg is slow due to bad knees, Randy has very bad kicks, boxing off course is nowhere near Toney's... Randy's game is to go to clinch, and work from there, but first he needs to get close to Toney (that will be hard if Toney will bounce around and use his footwork to move side to side, and away from the fence).
I fully expect Toney to hit Randy at least once when he goes for a clinch... And we will see what happens then... If Randy get's him to the fence, it's game over, Toneys arms will be to tired after few minutes of wrestling, but as long Toney can land that one punch, it will be interesting.
If they decide to go with catch weight, okay... But NO title on the line.
**** this, 154 lbs title should be defended at 154, and not 151. Just like WW title should be defended at 147, not 145. Once was enough.
Vitali will probably retire soon, he is 39 and i doubt he plans on fighting till 50 so Wald would win all the belts back and retire in few years after Vitali.
Haye.
He talks the most, has ducked Klitchkos two or three times by now (even with contracts signed) and he still talks about fighting them.
Floyd fought Mosley, who was #1 WW in the world at the time, and that was after Pacquiao didn't want to give some blood.
Povetkin is just not ready, his coach said so. Why fight now if you know you still need some time to get ready?
When there is 40 million $ for me, insult me all you want. If i'm better boxer than you, i will take the tests, get 40 million $ and knock you out.
If i'm not better boxer than you i will fight hand picked opponents for less money.
