Working security at night I work with few guys that train mma and kickboxing/kyokushin and I do boxing as well as other martial arts too.
Anyway they keep saying how mayweather is an overpaid poosy and who gives a **** about manny pacman-mayweather fight when they would lose to a novice mma kickboxer
Its sickning to hear it and its hard to argue with them because james toney has been nothing but disrespectful from day one and made a complete fool of the sport of boxing and misrepresenting its athletes.
Has anyone at work or you know gave a hard time about and if so how the **** do you argue with them
The only people who are going to be upset by this are the ones who rip into "MMgAy" and all the other crap they talk about UFC. If boxing fans wouldn't be complete a-holes to other sports maybe they'd take boxing a tad more seriously.
(Note: UFC and other MMA events bore me to tears)

after mayweather talked **** (the truth) about mma dana white and shawn sherk called him out, even getting ringside seats for his fight with DLH. when floyd turned them down kermit cintron offered to take his place and fight sean sherk instead, now the thing is kermit cintron was one of the best wrestlers in the country in high school and earned a scholarship to wrestle in college which im not sure if he did or not. dana white nor shawn sherk responded.
then when james toney says he wants to fight in the ufc they pretend hes the first boxer to do so and give him a shot. toney has a great name and even casual boxing fans know who he is, however they dont seem to know how washed up he is.
the reason toney went to the ufc is bcuz thats the only place ppl give a damn about his fights. the last time he beat a world class boxer was in 2005, 5 years ago when he outpointed john ruiz. since then he fought mediocre oposition often losing to them aswell. like his last fight against fres oquendo a journeyman, he did get the decision but clearly did not deserve to. hes looked awful in the last couple of years, not even ranked one of the best 30 HWs in most major organizations. WASHED UP!
to kill the argument that toney is past his best they have him fight couture, since hes older than toney. but toney had 80+ pro fights and 30+ amateur fights, couture had under 25. toney started fighting pro straight out of high school, couture started fighting in his mid to late 20's. james toney is known for his lack of discipline, in his prime putting on often 30-40lbs between fights and then taking it of on short notice draining his body in the process. at one point he was going up and down from Lt.HW, CW and HW, thats until he gave up making weight at all and became a permanent heavyweight, looking like and i quote jim lampley "a fat tub of goo". eating junk food and smoking cigars in the ring after fights. couture on the other hand is known for his dedication in and out of the gym, and has managed to preserve himself similar to bernard hopkins.
the matchup was a joke. toney shouldve retired years ago. put haye or one of the klitshkos in the ring with mark coleman or chuck liddell and u have a similar matchup. a boxer fighting a mma guy in mma isnt a fair matchup, when the boxer isnt even world class in his own sport its just a joke.
don frye is from back in the day when UFC was still exciting and I actually watched it a bit. I.E. when guys were actually strikers like Bas Rutten, Vitor Belfort, etc. Now it's all that rolling around on the floor gay ****.

Just tell them to FUK off! and bring one of their champions over Monday. They picked the worse representation with this same intention. Why they didn't give a call to any of the Klits. or the other Circus act of Supper Dave.
Actually, Briggs KO'ed Tom Erikson (Wrestler and MMA fighter) in fight under K1 rules.
it still works to compare. briggs the boxer fought the more well rounded fighter (mma) under k-1 rules. kind of reminds me of courture the wrestler fighting toney the boxer under mma rules
wow don frye used to be a BEAST. what's the story behind that fight i never heard about it
i think they were promoting some event and it did not happen and there was some money dispute. but to be honest i am not sure
Mercer vs. Kimbo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DahOLe5z3Ek

Butterbean vs. 185 lbs MinowaMan: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbu4h_minowa-x-butterbean-by-vato-pvt_sport
185 lbs Akiyama (in his MMA debut) vs. Botha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOSEw5C_nVM
Erikson vs. Skelton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAIgNhVT3Zs
- Skelton was K1 fighter at that point, but after losing to Erikson he wen't to boxing, and even fought for world title against Chagaev.
Now all this MMA vs. Boxing is stupid, two sports. Elite MMA fighter wins 99% of fights under MMA rules, elite boxer wins 99% of fight under boxing rules (there is always 1% chance for upset like it or not).
Apples and oranges.
I didn't even look at the links you posted but I'm assuming you posted links to fights of butterbean losing in MMA. I've already pointed out that butterbean has a 15-7 record in MMA. So if you post 7 videos of him losing, I can post double that, i.e. 15 of him winning. So you're retarded and you got owned there. He destroyed and annihilated 15 of your ***** MMA fighters.
Mercer vs. Kimbo? First of all Kimbo is not really even a "MMA" or "UFC" fighter. He's a guy just like Mercer that came off the street. Second of all that fight was 3 years ago whereas Mercer vs. Sylvia was last year, that means Mercer trained and learned as can be evidenced by his attempted single leg take down of Tim Sylvia after he cold cocked him. So therefore the Mercer/Kimbo fight is irrelevant anyway.
Lastly, your last statement is false. 99% of MMA fighters will get annihilated in boxing but boxers have proved that a far better percentage will win in an MMA match. In fact it's closer to maybe 50%. Boxers lose but they win just as often in MMA. Whereas UFC fighters in boxing will ALWAYS lose.
How about Aleksandre Emelianenko, the brother of famed Fedor Emelianenko he's about 17-3, one of the TOP MMA fighters in the world, THREE time Sambo World champion. Last year he attempted to cross over into boxing and did his first pro boxing debut. He fought a complete journeyman bum with like an 0-3 record and he fought to a DRAW.
What a joke. As you can see even ELITE MMA fighters fighting against 100% tomato can bums in boxing will lose. Whereas BUM boxers can cross over into MMA and annihilate CHAMPIONS as you saw Mercer annihilating Sylvia who is a multiple time world champion in UFC, and not only that is not even shot like Mercer was because Sylvia went on to win 3 fights by KO after the Mercer fight and is still fighting.
for one since you said they kickbox you can show them this vid of shannon briggs (boxer) destroying some guy at k-1 kickboxing
...
then you can show them former mma fighter don frye getting beat by a boxing coach in a street fight
...
but it probably wont make a difference because most guys that watch ufc dont give a rats ass about mma the sport they only care about ufc fights.
so anything else besides ufc is insignificant
so enjoy eating crow for a while:blackeye:

how you argue with them? Easy you send them the youtube footage of butterbean knocking out and destroying most of his MMA competition. Butterbean is 15-7 in MMA which is a very respectable record there.
Then you send them the video of Ray Mercer annihilating 6'8 280lbs multiple time world UFC champion Tim Sylvia in about 20 seconds of the start of the fight with a brutal punch to the face. And by the way don't use the excuse Tim Sylvia was "shot" or anything because he's fought 3 times since the Ray Mercer fight and won all 3 fights by KO....so Mercer annihilated a legitimate UFC champ.
So all this **** with Toney/Couture, it only equalizes UFC back to 1-1 with boxing in regards to that. They have Toney/Couture, we have Mercer/Sylvia. It's only equal now so MMA fans shouldn't rejoice too much. When Mayorga gets his license back to fight in MMA, if he hopefully does, then we'll see another 2-1 lead for boxing when Mayorga destroys his ****ty UFC opponent.

Punch your co-workers.
you know? that is what i was going to say.
look, if your retarded co-workers don't know the difference between the two sports, then their lobotomy has been successful.
My friend texted me and said
MMA 1
Boxing 0
and that tells you all you need to know.
to the mainstream fan this fight means : Boxing is dead, MMA is here, and MMA is better.
The sad part is, a good 98% of the population is stupid enough to believe that.
tell him mma 1 boxing 1 Ray Mercer annihilated the multiple time UFC world champion Tim Sylvia in 20 seconds last year

Brandon, David and Dylan all respect the sport of boxing. Those are my only real friends. I couldn't care less about other people's opinions.
ah jeez. that's gay dude.
