I remember a few years ago when this guy fought Darnel Giles and it was a draw. That was one hell of a good fight.
btw where the hell are the showtime fights, I can't find it. Did it get canceled?
starts in half an hour.

*********: Do you think Margarito will have Any Problems Making the 150 pound weight limit set for this fight?
Robert Garcia: NO Problem at ALL. When Margarito came to camp for this last fight he was only 12 pounds over the weight limit which was 154 and 2 weeks before the fight he was already weighing 154 so losing those last 4 pounds won’t be any problem. So to be 150 I Think is Going to be a BIG Advantage for Margarito, He’s going to be Much Stronger and Much Healthier. Margarito is a natural welterweight and has fought there for most of his career, at 147, so I think those extra 3 pounds is going To Work to Our Advantage.
/thread
the problem isnt with the weight, its with the belt.
since when do real boxing fans give a fck about belts anyways?
There are a lot of posters on this site who excuse Bute's ducking of Pascal on the grounds that he is staying at 168 for the Super 6 winner.
But let's just say for one second that the Super 6 is over right now and Andre Ward is the winner.
What makes anybody in their right mind think that Bute is gonna leave Montreal to come to the United States to get his ass kicked by Ward?
What makes anyone think that Bute, after sitting around fighting bums for 5 years, has any right to even attempt to bring the fight to Montreal?
Why would Andre Ward, who has worked his ass off with 5 consecutive fights against the very best in the division, be willing to go out of his way to fight Bute who has sat around and done nothing to earn a shot at all the titles?
Why would Andre Ward even consider for 1 second going to a country where Marlon Wright screwed Librado Andrade out of a dramatic knockout win and where Canadian judge Jack Woodburn gave the final round of Dawson-Pascal to Pascal even though he was getting his ass kicked all over the ring?
I think people have gone nuts. Bute is never going to leave Montreal. By the same token Ward seems hesitant to leave Oakland... but it seems strange that the same people who cry about Ward not leaving the states seem to have no problem with Bute fighting only in Montreal.
Ward will have earned the title as Division's best when he wins the Super 6. There is no reason for him to make any concessions for a fight with Bute. Anyone who thinks Bute will leave Montreal to challenge himself... well you're nuts.
When Bute cries like a f@ggot about not wanting to leave Montreal Ward will just move up to 175 and beat up the guys like Pascal who Bute has been ducking.
there is no reason why bute should bring any fight to the states. fighting anybody from 168-175 would make the most money in montreal. nobody in those divisions is a draw like bute is in montreal. he'd be getting canadian PPV money, plus the gate, plus HBO money on top of the purse.
as for him moving up, i dunno why. he is right about one thing though. the super 6 is taking way too damn long.
have you seen Caballero fight? lol
i see what u did there.
caballero's got talent though and more skill in little pinky than litzau has in his entire body.
if litzau is punch drunk than this is like the worst possible matchup he could have. caballero will be repeatedly tapping his swollen head.
Punching power has nothing to do with weight though. Its all bones, muscles, and joints being powered by the neurological system. That is the mass part of that equation here. Tyson has the advantage because he is PUNCHING UP, which allows him to put those massive legs almost entirely behind his shots, whereas a taller fighter would be at a extreme disadvantage here. Wlad cannot put his quads behind his shots, and hardly his hips either. It all comes from his back muscles(Lats) which is where most punching power comes from anyway.
It is a coordination thing, Tyson can get more muscle/power behind his shots than Wlad can, and Tyson's punches are far more technically advanced in that way. Now which one actually hits harder is up for grabs, I say Tyson easily.
are you trying to disprove physics?
have you seen wlad's back muscles? is he not coordinated when he punches?
wlad has mass, acceleration, height, leverage and gravity in his favor.
and in the realm of boxing he has punching technique as well.
that is why he can put some serious damage on opponents with seemingly innocuous punches. he doesnt even have to commit to his punches or punch with nearly the same ferocity as tyson. now imagine if he did.
Assuming Ward wins the super 6 he could easily be a bigger attraction in Oakland than Bute is in Montreal.
no, he wont.
its sad to say, but hes boring and black.
french canadians ALWAYS support their own and come out in full force.
i was gonna add him too, but i don't think he has a fight scheduled...anyways, Khan for the win! dude gets no love LOL
berto is fighting on 11/27 against freddy hernandez.
who? exactly.
i'd love to see freddy hernandez knock out andre berto.
Id pick Rondo, long ass reach, ridiculous stamina and great athleticism.
good pick. i think, unlike most basketball players, rondo would have the right temperament to be a fighter as well. hes a feisty SOB.
in contrast, i think lebron couldnt cut it becuz hes a mental midget who folds under pressure.
another basketball player i'd see being a good fighter is andre iguodala. 6'7, long ass arms, shredded, freak athlete, boundless energy with some of the quickest hands in basketball.
he also has a background in martial arts, so that type of coordination is there.
too many football players to name though.
it disturbs me that boxing fans are defending a title fight with catchweight restrictions, that's why boxing is in such a poor state.
Imagine FIFA allowing Spain to tell Brazil that they cannot win by more than 2 goals in soccer match.:Thinkingo
who in here is defending the fact that its a title fight?
do you think either fighter earned the shot at the title to begin with? hell no.
the belt means nothing. if history says manny won a belt in yet another division, you'll know better. it'll have just as much merit as when when DLH won his MW belt.
Oh but believe me, I've stated way before Pacquiao crossed over...that I didn't like his fake persona. So trust me, I don't buy into his act. It bothers me how Pacquiao continues to take away from the competitiveness from this matchup.
he's taking the competitiveness out of the fight by allowing a big, career WW to fight at 150? ok
the issue is with the belt, not the weight.
in regards to weight, margarito still has the advantage becuz hes the bigger man.
just curious. who was bute supposed to fight at 168 in the meantime?
super 6 aint gonna be over for a while at this rate.
kessler? i thought he was out of commission for a while.
btw, i think that'd be a great fight.
Faded Corley probably has better stamina than Judah. Judah is also a faded Judah.
I wouldnt be suprised to see Judah have his moments early vs some top 140lbers but I think hed lose down the stretch as he usually does. He can possibly get the KO as he had a good punch but probably get stopped himself.
i wouldnt say judah is faded. he looks noticeably more relaxed and focused in the ring with eddie mustafa muhammad in his corner.
he's settled down in his personal life and he's finally got a good guy in his corner.
imo, only guys that beat judah at 140 are ortiz and bradley.
you never know what you'd get with valero on fight night, but he certainly had the ability to outbox alexander. his boxing skills were so underrated cuz he was a crazy guy who'd rather stalk and exchange, but when he boxed he was a very skilled offensive minded boxer/puncher.
if devon pulled straight back with his hands down like he did vs kotelnik hed probably be going to sleep.
He may be a career WW but naturally Margarito has always been a Jr MW. The only WW bigger then Margarito right now is Mike Jones.
hes still a WW. according to his own trainer, he came into camp at 160 (as opposed to 175 for the garcia fight). 10 lbs is nothing at all to lose.
look at it this way. the fight will happen closer to margarito's ideal fighting weight than it is to manny's. advantage= margarito.
ask quillin why he isnt more active, if he has anything lined up fro the rest of the yr and ask if he's still having injury problems.
someone with his lack of amateur experience and at his age should be more active than fighting once a yr.
yep, i see a lot of barrera in mares. the post junior jones barrera to be exact. very well rounded. intelligent and tough.
one of my favorite fighters to watch.
Raw power is not compatable with power produced by speed.
They are not really compatable.
what does that even mean?
power is power.
is foreman's power not "compatable" to tyson's?
Are you kidding? He couldn't fight for shit when he was in that brawl.
he accounted for himself fairly well. as far as fighting goes, what did he do wrong?
jumping into the stands and being pulled in every direction is not comparable to being in a boxing match.
his pops was a boxer. ron's trained in boxing. he's a student of the game. hes got great size, length, coordination... quick, massive hands and that certain edginess needed to be nasty in the ring.
