I dunno if it has been done before on this board, but i think it could be good fun to name a few sports and then one or two athletes from said sport, who MIGHT have made a good boxer, mostly based on the persons physical and mental skills and toughneess. Judging a non-fighters chin will allways be guessing, so this should not be taken into consideration.
I'll start:
Basketball - Lebron James (Yao Ming??)
Football - Ray lewis (Micheal Vick)
soccer - Carlos Tevez (Didier Drogba)
Tennis - Rafael Nadal (Andy Roddick??)
Golf(hehe) - Tiger Woods
if you like, please name a few, and also, tell me what you think about mine :)
Are you kidding? He couldn't fight for shit when he was in that brawl.
he accounted for himself fairly well. as far as fighting goes, what did he do wrong?
jumping into the stands and being pulled in every direction is not comparable to being in a boxing match.
his pops was a boxer. ron's trained in boxing. he's a student of the game. hes got great size, length, coordination... quick, massive hands and that certain edginess needed to be nasty in the ring.
Are you kidding? He couldn't fight for shit when he was in that brawl.
:rofl::rofl: True story, he must've damaged his wrist pretty badly in that rumble.
good pick. i think, unlike most basketball players, rondo would have the right temperament to be a fighter as well. hes a feisty SOB.
in contrast, i think lebron couldnt cut it becuz hes a mental midget who folds under pressure.
another basketball player i'd see being a good fighter is andre iguodala. 6'7, long ass arms, shredded, freak athlete, boundless energy with some of the quickest hands in basketball.
he also has a background in martial arts, so that type of coordination is there.
too many football players to name though.
Agreed about the basketball players, I reckon a prime Shawn Kemp would have been a beast, that guy was so physically gifted. I think a prime Michael Irvin would be sick too.
I chose people who do Swimming, Gymnastics, Water Polo, Soccer, Rugby. Something that requires tons of strenght and precision. NFL players are a complete joke (look at how they all get owned in MMA). Playing for 10 seconds and sucking oxygen for 5 minutes doesnt really help you in Boxing.
oh, ron artest obviously.
if he didnt play ball he wouldve been a boxer like his pops
Are you kidding? He couldn't fight for shit when he was in that brawl.
Id pick Rondo, long ass reach, ridiculous stamina and great athleticism.

because he is the fastest man of all time.
you think his speed is limited to just running? :lol1:
running and punching and moving in the ring
are all different mechanics, are you stupid or what?
Usain Bolt.
He would be the fastest boxer P4P of all time and on top of that he has a great reach (he is 6'5 tall)
Well he'd have **** stamina.
because he is the fastest man of all time.

handspeed and footspeed(in a boxing way) dont have much to do with running.
