Sounds like some of these guys you maybe fighting the only way your going to win is if you knock fire out of their ass.
Is it usually like this in below amateur boxing? I thought there would be some professionalism shown, I mean I'm no ref but I'd know the basics on when to disqualify someone or call it a TKO.
One time they should probably be let off as they're a beginner but anything after twice is silly, never mind doing it 4 times, clearly used it to his advantage.
I'd honestly be tempted to move around them when they're hiding and continue punching them if the ref kept letting them do it. The guy escaped a knockout by using his back 4 times... lol. Hope I'm never put in that position.I'd be out raged.
Ben is either deluded about his stand up or just getting paid enough that he doesnt mind a little extra brain trauma. The guy is probably the worst male striker in UFC history and will be food for Paul.
It will feed Jakes ego sadly. He isn't a professional boxer when he isn't fighting professionals :/ The biggest joke next to Tommy Fury.
she knows marshall would expose her thats why
I think because she's the only one to have beaten Shields it's having a mental affect on her. She was hoping Rankin would win that fight and not just because they're friends.
actually claressa had a hell of a lot to say on twitter. she even put out a video trashing savannah
Claressa is much younger than savannah, people tend to forget that. She was a kid when she was beaten by an adult Savannah in the amateurs. I hate that people think Claressa is scared. Still, I like Savannah's style. It's always amusing to watch a big gob get silenced, but then I think Claressa is also likeable most of the time.
That's the thing, had a lot to say but since Savannah boxed better than when Claressa boxed Rankin she's fell silent.
Eddie Hearn tweeted out to Claressa about being sick of all the back and fourth and said lets get something booked to which she ignored. Very unusual of Claressa, usually has too much to say but when asked if she wants to fight she didn't respond.
And she really isn't likeable most of the time, every interview of hers consists of 'I am the greatest woman of all time' 'I have two Olympic gold medals' & 'I am undisputed', she's well annoying lol.
Maybe wishful thinking but I think it's more likely to happen than not.
Matchroom is where the money is for women's boxing at the moment.
Just a bit weird how she's gone silent, she's usually annoyingly vocal about other female boxers to a point where Eddie Hearn tweeted her asking her and her team to get the fight sorted, to which there was no response. If that was Laila Ali the woman who's now closer to being a grandma and hasn't fought in almost 15 years there would have been a response.
I think Claressa may feel that Marshall has her game.
Didn't Claressa say something about being Marshall's mandatory?
I must say, Marshall did look excellent. I've watched that fight
5 times lol.
I don't think so, they were going back and fourth and Claressa kept telling Marshall that she wasn't a proper world champion but since her fight with Rankin, to which she boxed better than when Claressa faced Rankin she hasn't been tweeting her or nothing and it's fell silent.
Utter bum making a few quid off the Fury name.
It makes me laugh how his ditzy girlfriend jumps up and down whenever he wins as if she isn't expecting it lol
He probably is a fraud, but he's had what? 3 fights?
Who should he fight next? Kovalev?
4 and someone that's actually there with intentions to win... his last opponent 0-12, his opponent before 2-26, before that 0-26, fight before 10-102 lol.
Thanks for the responses guys. So if I was to join an amateur boxing club what do I expect? If it's having to punch bags until I'm noticed then that isn't for me, firstly I wouldn't spend a penny to do that as it's something you can do at home and secondly I have zero skills as a boxer, I need some form of training so I wouldn't ever be getting any better without it to catch their attention.
Surely you'll get some form of training, in small chunks? If not then white collar boxing will have to be for me as training is guaranteed.
As white collar boxing doesn't have a record count, could I enter as many contests as I want? I mean free training lol.
You're an idiot, how does it look embarrassing asking to join a gym ?.
Many amateur places won't allow someone has done a lot of White collar to join their gym, if they recognize you.
Would entering one white collar boxing competition mean refusal in amateur gyms? I'm wanting to perform in front of an audience at least once before I am set up to begin my amateur career, this is because of miss matches etc, you can get coaches lying about your ability etc just to make their top fighters look good with knockouts and all of that.
As explained above, white collar boxing, losses aren't recorded so I'd like to try it first and then I'll have a better idea on if I'm any good, to go 0-1 due to a coach that's building my hopes up for their benefit wouldn't be great.
Response to all, yeah I'm from the UK.
I think a gym where it places you into different groups depending on your ability will be best for me, obviously I'll start out in the beginners group and then I'll know I've made progress if I'm asked to move up etc.
I'm thinking about going to an amateur club and paying per single sessions until I feel I know what I'm doing and then maybe do a white collar boxing tournament so that I get a feel of what it's like to perform in front of an audience, but if at my amateur club they can get me fights then I'll do that.
The only downside of that is I wouldn't want a loss on my record if I'm not ready and my amateur coach is setting me up for a complete miss match, with white collar it wouldn't count on it so I think I'll do amateur training, white collar and then go back to amateur and then be booked for my debut match.
Whats your fat %?
I'm 6'2 too & I remember when I was considering fighting/training daily 165 was about my basement too weight-wise. But your fat % & body type plays into it more than your height.
Are you fighting or planning to fight amateur? That leap to 178 still seems like a big gap to close & 165 is a ways away still obviously. So just to get some experience I think I'd play around at 201 as you continue to drop weight & then see how you feel at 178 if you can get there. By then you should have some idea if 165 is reasonable/attainable.
I'm unsure I'll have to measure myself later, I'm planning to do white collar followed by amateur, white collar will give me an idea if I'm any good etc.
But yeah 202 to 178 is a big leap but 202lbs isn't my natural body size, I'm only this large due to being inactive for a few years due to bone problems (which is now sorted) so I'll be dropping in weight regardless.
I want to lose more weight, because 201 is basically what I'm at now and I still have flab etc I want to have a nice body haha, although that isn't a main priority I'd still like it to be a goal.
I do know my body type has always been broad though, before I became fat I was never a scrawny 6'2er so I was thinking of dropping to 194 regardless as that will fit into a healthy BMI and then I can see if I need to lose more or if 194 will look good for me.
I would love to fight at 178 but it all depends on if it makes me look stick thin or not.
its based on a percentage. That's why in the smaller classes there are 3lbs between, then 4, then 5 and so on.
They already created a division between LHW and HW. That IS CW. Heavyweight used to be 176 and up.
They need to take Heavyweight back to being 176 and up.
What is your weight and body fat percentage? I doubt there are many cruisers fighting under 200lbs. I'm guessing most are walking around 210 plus.
I'm currently at 202 lbs and I don't feel good so I know that CW won't be for me. I'm dropping in weight, I could drop to lets say 185-180 but I feel anything lower would be a huge struggle.
Hard to say with out seeing what kind of frame you got.You basically got two choices 175 or cruiser wt.You might get down to 175 but with sparring and hard work outs you might feel to weak.
I've always been broad over scrawny, I'd quite like to fight at 175 I think but it all depends on if I can make that or not.
Cruiser weight is 200 lbs though, it's something I'm at now and I don't feel comfortable in that frame. I feel my punches are too slow and too heavy and just genuinely don't feel right.
It would be so much easier for me if they had a weight class in between light heavyweight and cruiserweight.
Mine was Floyd vs Big Show.
Before then, I had no clue who FMJ was but I was more than entertained. That made me go on YouTube to see defensive highlights.
On top of everything, I could easily see the power of FMJ punches on Big Show.
Moreover, I was getting tired of fake wrestling anyways.
Then there was the Ali month ESPN Classic did, now that cleared out any doubt I had left.
I became a fan.
I thought I'd be the only one digging Floyd vs the big show.
Christy Martin because she was something the boxing scene had never seen before in her trade mark pink trunks, Floyd Mayweather also inspired me too, I thought he was so cool as a kid when he fought at Wrestlemania vs the big show LOL.
Usually best going with something that either alliterates or rhymes with one of your names - most commonly your surname. You got anything about your style - heavy handed, swarmer or technician maybe - that could give us something to work with?
Ross 'Grand Slam' Lamb maybe - you got a 20,000Lb bomb in them gloves perchance?
The reference may be a bit obscure for some though.
And Lamb you say... here's an even more obscure one - you ain't got nine fingers by any chance?
'The Boss' is OK too I guess but you'll look like a dick when you lose... well... actually, all the rest of the time too, so maybe steer clear of that one.:lol1:
I like Ross The Boss but yeah if I lose then...
my trainer gave me my nickname, when I was still..green horn. 11-12 y.o and its Gudan.. and I don't brag on public, even though lots of oldies know i compete in pro these days, and been a nobody when i registered here. I aint no Davis, aint no Loma..another 3-4 fights, and you will see my last name in news section.
now back to your wet dream..
So you've achieved a lot but spend your free time bashing people online over the stupidest of reasons? It seems whenever I respond to you, you reply back instantly with even more garbage, you clearly have too much time on your hands. Assuming you must be injured?
Yes okay, well done. Regardless of me seeing your name in the papers (if it does happen) I'll still have the same opinion on you, that you're an idiot, much rather be me, if I make it to professional I certainly won't spend my free time bashing beginners. If you don't like seeing people posting questions on a forum, yes a forum where questions will be an every day occurrence then maybe you should devote your time to doing something else.
Yes, you're being told to click the big red X by the new guy here.
Not going to waste anymore time on you because unlike you I'm a positive person and honestly, I don't have the time to go back and fourth with you. I'm going to go and do some work outs, you should consider doing the same. Reply to this all you want, you won't be getting a response from me. And just a bit of advice, You can't go through life with your keyboard being your best friend mate, so go and fix your horrible, negative attitude of yours :)
I think I'm going to go with 'The Son of Mary' because then I can walk out to Kirk Franklin Stomp lol. Thanks everyone though! I didn't realize so many names could be made with my surname, guess I'm lucky.
no need to cry...haha)) sure buddy, sure
You seem quite a thin skinned person, you're moaning about people asking questions, well sorry to break it to you but this is a forum... People will ask questions.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys that you've came up with. I think my favorites are Son of Mary, The man with a plan, The Rising lad (which I may change to the rising man) and Son of Rockin. Although with Son of Mary I'll probably get religious nutters finding some reason to ***** about it lol.
lol...you think of the nickname more than a competition. go get your ass in the gym... there are tens of fighters like yourself, who come with these threads..how yto properly do pull ups, whats the best thing for stamina, should i do weights etc. there for makes me think, you aint going to do anything..not even attending boxing gym. thinking of a nickname, sure
Just because I'm thinking of a nickname doesn't mean that I'm not also thinking of competition or that I'm not taking boxing seriously, it's so lovely of you to come up with these assumptions of yours.
It's okay to have a bit of fun, no need to cry.
I can't stand Shields. She is one of the worst sports and most rude and disrespectful boxers around male or female. She is a huge bragger and very arrogant and conceited. She insists she is the greatest female boxer in history and she is not. I want Hammer to knock her out or make her quit but realistically I think Hammer beats her by UD. For all her boasting Shields has only 2 KO wins as a pro.
I'm not a fan of Shields attitude but you have to wonder if she's doing it to get noticed? A lot of boxers and MMA fighters put on an arrogant front to be noticed because they sell PPV's better, for e.g Holly Holm, lovely girl achieved so much but who classes her as one of the best ever? Not many. However, the way I think is that you should always be yourself so she's either ****y, arrogant and annoying or isn't being true to herself, either way I want Hammer to win. Hammer's been long over due to fight in America. I wish Hammer luck, but if Shields wins then WD to her. May the best woman win, this is one fight I am really looking forward to.
Ram Jam Lamb
Bam Bam Lamb
Van Dam Lamb
Wham Damn Lamb
Spam Lamb of Siam
Ok, these are getting silly...
Lol. Bam Bam Lamb reminds me of Bam Bam Bigelow.
