Last Wilder fight it got played, chuckled to myself. Nothing whips up the crowd better than Sweet Caroline, but youve gotta follow it up with 7 Nation Army, game on after those 8 minutes, forever intertwinned
Thats a better one & yea I do hear that a lot with UK shows.
Do different promoters do this with different songs?
Noticed that Chance the Rapper tune gets played a lot in the US, had to Shazaam that one, lol
Benavidez would whoop up on all of them...
I can already here the ducking cries from across the Atlantic as Groves, Degale and Smith work it out amongst themselves
Most of those were likely pissed up local casuals/football fans. Also looked like less than 10,000, laughable that Matchroom are still trying to push the 27,000 number.
Looked pretty full to me, holds 32,000 without floor seating. They didnt open one stand. Place was packed by the final fight
If i'm not mistaken, Hearn and Matchroom do the darts over here as well. Other guys will be able to tell you more about that than me as i'm not a darts fan.
I think they have a similar set up with songs that try get the crowd's spirits lifted.
They try to make it a fun night out etc to get people to come back.
Yeah think they started with snooker, boxing, darts. Doing something now with gymnastics. Seem to have a knack with repopularising sports
Team GB had one Olympic entrant in 2004, a 17 year old kid who would go on to draw millions on national TV, headline in the US and draw celebrities to the sport like never before (not since Naz and Eubank anyway).
That led to Team GBs continued success in 2008 where the team was better than the one in 2012. The London Olympics were successful but they did not kick start the UK amateur revolution and increase the visibility of the pro sport, it was 2004-05, Amir Khan and Ricky Hatton. Without those 2, I British boxing reaches the heights we have seen now.
Yeah true, but a lot of money was put into sports in the run up to the Olympics that Im not sure would have been there if not for the Olympics
I think Hearn is one of the best at what he does, but he was also very lucky, a few things come together at the same time and he was in the right place to take advantage
Damn is that it, costs $50 a month for Sky Sports and Boxnation, UK pays double. Enough money left over for 2 PPVs. See its nonsense we pay less. Then we have to pay for PPVs on top of that.
Yeah and to think just 13 years ago it was pretty quiet. The amateur circuit was dry, with Khan being the only Brit entrant in the Olympics but his win and subsequent popularity really changed things. People tend t oforget how important he was to the sceen in those early years.
The 2012 Olympics were a pretty big boost for all sports in the UK
:boxing::boxing:
He has yet to breathe Wilder's name.
This all comes from when Hearn said Wilder wasnt get promoted correctly, and one of the PBC lot fired back at him, had a bit of a row. Wilder aint getting a free ride off Joshuas back
He should stop getting suspended for peds.
Yeah really, also Hearn giving him 2 chances before, building him up as a killer, then he stinks the house out. Ortiz ****s things up by himself, and people feel sorry that he doesnt get a chance.
This is it, isn't it?
To be honest those two fights are the only times I've seen Ortiz. He certainly didn't look like the boogeyman of the division.
I know he's a big lump, a southpaw, powerful, and Cuban so he fits that profile of avoided fighter. But I wouldn't have my heart in my mouth watching Joshua in with him based on the evidence I've seen. His feet were just too slow.
I know he's meant to have looked great against Jennings but I've never been motivated to watch that based on what I've seen.
Dave Allen looked fairly comfortable in there with him ffs.
Then there was the Golden Boy stuff, Ustinov fight falling apart. Hed probably already have the belt if he stuck it out. Constant bad decisions.
PBC are being quiet about enforcing the Joshua fight, probably the latest to realise they messed up signing him.
But our PPVs are $70 (about 50 pounds) instead of 16 pounds for Sky PPV.
We still pay more, $300 for the first 6 months of this year plus 3 PPVs, comes to about $375. Yours $150 subscription plus 2 PPVs, $290.
Thus the usage of the word "some". I understand that not all GGG fans feel this way, but those aren't the ones whom are the most heard.
Yeah I could actually imagine, gunna stear clear of those threads til maybe a fortnight before the fight, better that way. In training at the moment for the upcoming battle with the American members for the Brook/Spence fight. Better to save your better stuff for when the battle is imminent, otherwise you wear yourself out.
I know. Warren didn't promote Smith in Texas...
I'm saying when did you say Hearn go to American soil and raise his fighter's hand beating a statesider?
Like I said, Oscar is a gee!

Oscar De La Hoya by far...
Nobody is giving credit to stateside's GBP and Linares as they ran up on Crolla's territory and handled business!!!
Hearn promoted those fights
I dont think it really matters as much with him, hes in that rare area where belts matter less, he could drop the IBF belt and get in back whenever he wanted, noones gunna turn down the money.
