Basicaly the same outcome. Oscar looked terrible in the Forbes fight. He got his cheek bone pretty mashed up and got hit with alot of silly shots.
But Forbes just wasn't big enough, strong enough, and never had the power in his punchers to capatalize on it.
The writing signs were on the wall then, that Oscar shound't be below 154lb.
I really don't see it in all honestly. His chin also hasn't got that aura that it once did, and he has also had alot of inactivity, add to this his flat footed style along with his slow hands and leaky defence. Against Manny's speed, power, & timing it just dosen't sound good for Margarito.
Really? Hatton was supposely a 50/50 fight, the same with Cotto. I recall them being to big and strong for Pacquiao? That was just another myth.
No Pac started as the betting Fav against both Hatton & Cotto.
I think he should have considered fighting at 175 a long time ago. Right now he seems to fall apart like a deck of cards every time the pressure is put on him, both mentally and physically. He just doesn't seem to have it at this stage. It has been three tough losses now every single time he has stepped up in competition and he doesn't look to have the mentality to put those behind him.
Some good points there. But I still would like to see him at 175lb. He fougt most of his early career there, but the drop to 168lb does him no favours.
He seems to tire really easy, and his punch resistance is not so good. He always looks so drained at the weigh in and even fight times I noticed in his last two fights.
At least at 175, the cut won't take as much out of him, and he may have more to give. He's also never been defeated at 175lb.
He's not world class, but can punch and has some skill. I find his Ola Afolabi(Former WBO Crusierweight Interim Champion) win fairly underrated, although both were still prospects.
He needs to work do more on his defence and range finding.
Green should seriously considering retiring.
Really? I think maybe he should give 175lb a try and see how he does there after some time off. I do think the weight cut really hurts him at 168lb, he did win the Golden Gloves at 175lb to.
The weight is not an issue, he lacks confidence. He's a mental case and that's why he will never do well against the top fighters. I don't even rate his win over Ola. That was a 4 round fight back in 2003 and it was Ola's 3rd fight.
Allan Green talks alot better than he fights and you need to put him in the ring with B and C-level fighters in order for him to look decent.
It's not all of the issue, but part of it. Come on, you can tell by looking at him he looked drain his last two fights. He come in 166 for Ward.
I've never said he was world class, all I said was he can punch and has some skill. I feel his best weight is 175lb, were he was as a amatuer and early part of his pro career, were he wound't be as weight drained.
I feel there could be a few decent fights for him at 175lb, he needs to take time off and work on a few things and then come back. Him vs Luis Garcia is the fight I'd like to see.
Am surprised Roach/HBO 24/7 haven't used this or said something about this as to one of the many reasons Pac isn't looking good in training and isn't taking this camp seriously.....:nonono:
Am so hyped for this fight. It's a interesting clash of styles. It will be interesting to see who's power gets the most respect.
Both fighters like to stand there ground, and test the other's chin & will.
Wound't be to surprised do if Froch did try to box & move. And I agree it will be interesting to Froch hands down style vs Aruthur. Froch has always been very easy to hit.
Just how many bombs will he be able to stand from such a devastaing puncher like AA?
Nov 27th can't come quick enough!
Come on................
They are milking this whole Manny aint trainin hard BS for all it's worth. We get the point. I can't help but think sometimes Freddie Roach is a bit of a attention seeker with comments like this.
Last time I checked Manny looker ripped & lean, and was punchin pretty damn hard on the pads and looked ready to go.
Lopez should win this fight. He has most of the advantages on his side, and this stage has been set up for him to win and look good doing it. But I have a feeling Marquez may pull the upset off here.
I find Johnson/Green hard to predict. As I don't know how the weight cuts went for both. Glen could outwork him over 12, but he also may have took to much weight of his 41 year old body which may affect him badly, and Green could take a inside the distance win, but then again the same could be said for Green and his weight cut.
Not a fight I'd like to bet on, but I'd edge towards Green, although am a huge Road Warrior fan.
Come fight time Margarito will have had just 2 fights since Jan 2009. One in which he got knocked out in/destroyed and the other were he beat a tough but extremly medicore and fairly unskilled fighter over 10.
Add to the fact that Margarito has got to be make 150lb, and his style is made for Manny. Margarito has never done well with southpaws. And he's fighting the best southpaw of the decade here.
He's extremly flat footed, slow, and has a leaky defence, and his chin has also been dented now.
Manny's hand speed, footwork, skills, & power should be way to much for Margarito to handle. Manny all day........
Zab should win with his skills, experince, & talent. But he blows really hot & cold. Matthysse has some real power in his punchers, and I wound't rule out a KO win for him either.
