If the fight what have gone on any longer it would have been like Rocky IV when Apollo died.
edit: Oh yeah use it as you see fit

I think a decent boxer should make the challenge to an MMA fighter. Beat me in a boxing match, and then I will fight you in mma. lol it seems much more likely to me that a boxer could possibly when an mma fight then an mma'er beating a real boxer.
Even if the boxer has hardly any defense eventually the other fighter will get close enough to be punched, and with small gloves on a boxer his handspeed, power, and accuracy would be devistating. Not saying the boxer is going to win, but certainly has a better chance at beating them in their own sport rather then the other way around.
It's funny how some boxing fans are making a big deal out of how short the UFC main event was. The fact is it doesn't matter because apparently the undercard was still a blast to watch.
I still don't care to watch UFC (although i did like pride) but I think it is pathetic to try and use that main event as an example. Its just as pathetic as an mma fan using the "oscar vs mayweather" fight to some up all of boxing. I am a boxing fan, and even I can see how insecure some people are.
What people don't realize is that Chuck has Wrestling skills thats why you can't take him to the ground. You can't teach a boxer overnight how to defend against takedowns.
So what's your point? You can't teach a wrestler how to strike overnight, and when a boxing match. The fact is you can take a boxer, and give him time to learn some wrestling, and when he gets in a mma fight he will have a novice wrestling game, but his striking will be incredible. Chances are he will be able to win some matches by knocking people the fuck out.
If a wrestler wanted to come to boxing, and learn a little bit of boxing and try to win a boxing match then he would get utterly destroyed. That is because his wrestling doesn't mean shit in a boxing ring. Especially when the guy across from you has trained for years in boxing.
Anyways, you can't compare the sports though because they are really an apples and oranges situation. The truth however is a bood boxer can make it
in mma by learning basic wrestling defense. The fact is he will always have his superior striking which is obviously a very important aspect of mma.
He is pretty f'in impressive. If you haven't seen glaube feitosa before check out this video. He has got the single most devistating kick I have ever seen. This video highlights that kick. It's like his legs are made of spaghetti.
I was wondering if anyone else thought that Emanuel is annoying as fuck. I know he is agreat trainer and all but he should shut his mouth and let the boxers do the talking instead of trying to predict exactly what the boxer will do. I got a kick out of Merchant arguing with Emanuel about Oscar getting tired that was priceless.
Although a lot of people don't like him I actually enjoy lennox's commentary for some reason. It's like he's enjoying the fight more so then the rest of the announcers. He doesn't seem to act like a know it all, but thats just me.
As much as Max's commentary annoys me at times I was very happy to see him stand up against Lampley. Lampley made that stupid comment as a last ditch effort. He knew that the fight didn't deliver enough to draw casual fans so he resorted to a stupid comment out of frustration.
His arrogant comment only pushed away the mma fans even more IMO. Thank god Max said something so atleast it doesn't seem like all boxing fans are taking cheap pathetic shots at mma.
Its not mma's fault that it's drawing all the casual fans. If every f'ing boxing match wasn't on ppv or even if there were available on regular cable then that would help boxing more then anything. I'd challenge any casual fan towatch Cotto and Malignaggi and I guarantee they will be interested. Just my .02
The reason there aren't as many Miranda hating threads is because atleast Miranda made a good fight. Jermain couldn't give a shit less wether or not he pleases fans, and he looked retarded in front of Cory to boot.
As for the wrestling quote I think what he means is that anyone can be set-up to be middle weight champ if certain strings are pulled just like setting up a wrestling match. He may have the belts, but no one gives a shit.
I love to see a slugfest as much as the next guy and in my opinion Miranda's loss took nothing away from him, because atleast he came to fight .Yeah he talked shit, but in the end he made for a good fight and that is all that the fans care about. If Miranda would have danced around and won the fight on points (lets imagine) then I guarantee there would be way more shit talking about Miranda going on regardless of the fact that he won.
Mayweather didn't make his fight even remotely interesting, and honestly Oscar only helped. The point is there are plenty of good boxers with lots of skill, and average power, that can still make an interesting fight. Malignaggi for example isn't particularly powerful, but watching him pepper the shit out of his opponent is a lot more fun then watching him stick and move. If Mayweather is to be respected he needs to use his superior skills to fight, and not just box.
The only poeple who think that boxing is dying is white guys with forum names like "Mr. Violence" who get together to watch ufc fights with a bunch of your white friends and drink a ton of beer. AKA the average UFC fan. Most of the "other" UFC fans can enjoy a good boxing match just as easily as a good mma fight.
Of course people like you are going to say boxing is dead. UFC is marketed directly to people like you. Ask outside the UFC fan demographic, and you will find that most don't care about UFC. Ask people outside the USA about UFC, and they won't care for the most part either. Go to Mexico, and tell then have the nerve to tell me Boxing is dead.
Just because UFC is so popular here it doesn't mean anything for boxing. Boxing has always had its own fans of all different types, and has never really captured one niche' market. The boxing fan demographic is much more diverse, and loosing the young white male fan isn't going to compromise it, and in reality Boxing still has plenty of young white fans to boot.
UFC fans like yourself think they have the whole story on boxing just because theysaw one boring ass fight in DLH vs Mayweather. Well sorry to burst your bubble, but that fight didn't even win over boxing fans either. It was a bad showcase for boxing iin the general publics eye, AND in the eyes of most boxing fans. If it would have been any number of different fights then there wouldn't be as much shit talking about boxing being boring.
My 2cents
How could you possibly imagine Taylor knocking out Pavlik. He may win by decision, but there is no way he will knock Pavlik out that is the most ridiculous proposition ever.
I don't think Taylor will even win the fight. He hasn't proved anything in his career. He's fought some good competition in Winky, and Hopkins who he never convincingly beat. If Winky can pound on JT then I can only imagine how badly Pavlik would beat on him. Pavlik by round 7 TKO.
Pavlik is a very exciting fighter, but i think he is being slightly overhyped right now.
Do I think he will beat Taylor? yea, probably.
But is he the savior of boxing? nope.
He is definantley being overhyped right now considering he hasn't fought really good competition yet, but that is not to say he can't live up to the hype.
