How is it that Miranda talks cash money shit and gets beat up but still manages to get off lightly here in Boxinscene....BUT.....Pretty Boy talks cash money and beats the shit out of DLH and is still getting bashed on a daily basis here...Please advise me how the hell this is possible..
U people make me laugh. Everything ya say is just dumb. PBF didn't make it a boring fight!! DLH did! WHY?!!!?!! Because DLH couldnt hit him. If DLH would have landed shots from the begining we would have seen a realy realy good fight. For example If hopkins cant land shots on Winky when that fight happens and it beomes a boring fight... whos fault is it?! Yeah exactly thats what I thought. So stop bashing Mayweather and Bash DLH for not bringing the best out of Floyd Mayweather. Seriosly think about that! DLH was horrible that night. He didnt throw the jab so Mayweather Blocked and Dodged all his shots while countering. I would have done the same. Someones gotta agree with me! BTW when PBF said I'll give him a toe to toe fight! That didnt happen. Wana know why because DLH wasnt doing shit couldnt land. Wasnt accurate. So PBF did what he did to all the other fighters he fought. He outsmarted them.
Njord said it best, power makes all the difference. Power power power, some of you claim to be boxing fans but i think for the most part, your really KO fans, some of the mindset for you people is basically that of a casual fan with little to no appreciation for the true art of the sport. I can understand hate for Corey spinks, and even for mayweather in some instances, but in the DLH fight, he fought the perfect fight for him, period, and he didint "run the whole fight" he was hardly ever on his bike, and when he was against the ropes, its not like he constantly tied him up neither.
You know, I had this problem with my roommate a few years back. Boxing is always more fun when you have another fan to watch it with, have discussions, make in-fight observations, etc. So we both began watching boxing around the same time, I felt he was a good boxing fan like I had become over the years, and we began to watch boxing together.
What I quickly noticed was that if a fight could not end in a KO he was not nearly as interested. Unless there was the threat of a knockout, or a huge media hype job, his enjoyment of the sport was not there. This puzzles me. Can you like boxing if you ONLY like seeing people get put down?
I've seen the same attitude you're speaking about from my roommate reflected here. These people who watch the sport avidly, or so you think, and yet only seem to value the big punchers or the fights that end in knockouts. It's a casual fan mentality. You can't see masterful counter punching? How about amazing speed? Ring generalship means nothing? Aren't there guys like Mayweather that just put you in awe watching them go to work? Doesn't sheer boxing skill keep you entertained?
People watch sports for that exact reason - to be entertained- and I think many people have the mentality that if there's no one getting knocked out a fight isn't entertaining. I guess a good example of this is the upcoming Wright-Hopkins fight. Most likely no one will be knocked out. No one will get demolished, or hurt- it'll be a chess match. Is something wrong with watching two of the most recognized fighters of our generation fight intelligently and with skill? To see, in this match of minds and fists, who can figure the other guy out and win? I'm not saying this is the most anticipated fight for me....but I feel like I'd be betraying the sport to not be interested. Many people see the prospect of 12 solid rounds between Winky and Bernard as a snooze fest. I see it was a possible exhibition of talent.
So, yes, some people are all about the rough, unskilled brawlers like Miranda. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the guy. I do. I like his fighting spirit - but I don't see how ANYONE GAINED respect for him after getting his ass whooped this weekend. He lost hard. I put brawlers and punchers in a different category than boxers- men like Wright and Mayweather whom will rarely shovel out a KO but can often impress me with their skill. The flood of Pavlik and Miranda fans here display the weakness of many people- their blood lust for a KO that overpowers all other desires in their viewing of the sport. So we rip Mayweather and pat guys like Miranda and Pavlik on the back - because many are simply obsessed with power. Power isn't the end-all, be-all of boxing. It's one exciting element in a sport full of skill, art, and technique. We need to appreciate the latter three aspects rather than just punching power.
miranda gives the fans what they want. he isnt afraid to get hit. mayweather is too defensive. he runs around too much. against dlh it was acceptable. against baldmir it wasnt
He boxed both silly if you ask me....The fans hate what great...fans are often "at least" individuals...

Never in my life would i think that somehow, a fighter like Miranda with marginal skill and a big mouth, who ripped pavlik before the fight, then ripped Taylor for months, goes out, get his ass kicked for 7 rounds, gets humiliated, and somehow he is a "warrior" because of his lack of defense and his inability to fight going backwards. I swear, if this is peoples idea of a "warrior" because hes marginally skilled, then maybe more people should really just watch UFC. This is getting rediculous, floyd stood in front of DLH SEVERAL times while DLH just looked at him. Pavlik left the ring that night knowing he just beat the shit out of somebody with a big mouth that couldnt back it up, and im sure he still thinks hes a fucking clown for running his mouth, I would.
If running my mouth, and then getting my ass kicked is whats going to get me some respect on these boards, i think i should definately sign up. This has come to the point where essentially, Floyd mayweather will never be liked on here even for his skill until he gets KO'd. Then this board can lose it and flood the board with "I TOLD YOU MAYWEATHER WOULD LOSE" when some of you have been predicting his next loss since the 1st castillo fight. I swear after that 1st castillo fight people went nuts with the mayweather hate on different boards, then he rematched him and nobody has been satisfied since, and you never will be, ever. Never. Until he becomes the champion YOU want him to be, youll never be happy, youll always find something to hate him.

Oscar had every advantage, smaller ring, smaller gloves, larger weight and none of that shit helped him and you all still bitch and whine.
hellava post playa...
Miranada was not backing up, he was being backed up but he was standing toe to toe trading, something Floyd will never do. Not to mention Mirandas fights are exciting.
Bottomline is he was going backwards..."Mr. Not in my League"..
I say again, if after 38 fights of the same thing, you think somehow hes going to do something different than what hes already done, most of us on here are hardcore boxing fans, we know how these guys fight, we know their styles, we know what they can and cant do. If your dissapointed that floyd, who started his career at fucking 130, didint KO oscar, because he said he was going to, then thats on you.
Maybe you misunderstood the subtlety of my allusion.
I personally enjoy Floyd's boxing and rate him exceedingly highly.
He's a F@@@ing amazing talking dog.
He alienates a lot of fans because he misrepresents himself as something he isn't. People dislike him not because he is an amazing talking dog.
They hate him because he claims he can fly.
Next version.
A restaurant promises 'All you can Eat' buffet.
You go and they give you a great steak but not an 'all you can eat' buffet.
Despite loving steak, many people will now hate this restaurant.
The steak is superb.
The buffet lovers now hate the restaurant.
Because it lied about itself, even steak lovers are annoyed. The restaurant obviously wants the big crowds of buffet-lovers more than the select steak loving crowd.
The only people left are a few Hard-Core steak lovers.
The few Hard-Core steak lovers complain that noone likes the restaurant.
Boo Hoo.
Any questions?
Dude, if someone sells you tickets promising that he's going to show you a man who can fly then you're going to pretty pissed when he shows you a talking dog.
A talking dog is f@@@ing brilliant. I'd love to see it. But I'd be pissed off cause I'd turned up to see a man fly.
If he keeps promising a flying man but delivering a talking dog then eventually you will hate him. End of story.
The moral is:
A talking dog is f@@@ing brilliant. The only way to make people hate an amazing talking dog is to keep promising them a flying man.
Floyd promises a knockout machine.
Floyd delivers technical brilliance.
Floyd makes people be dissappointed by technical brilliance.
Good luck with that.

To be honest, Oscar's knees did buckle in the 5th.
My knees buckled last night sparring a super heavyweight, but I was pretty far from being knocked out.
It creates that if you actually beilive after 38 fights that hes somehow going to do something different than hes done in the past.

What I mean is that he could run around for 12 rounds and never even try a counterpunch and his fans would stillr eact as though it was a bloody beatdown. An example: Oscar was apparently "nearly knocked out". It's funny.

Then it creates dissapointment.
Then it creates frustration.
eventually it creates dissinterest.

Its easier to lie and get attention then tell the truth and have nobody care, plus it creates a better atmosphere and build up.

The thing is why not promise smackdowns and beatings then tag and move for 12 round decisions, when your fans will change history and suggest you "beat the shit" out of your opponent?
Because if he said "im going to duck and slip and counterpunch and skillfully outbox my opponent" nobody would pay any attention to that neither. Its easier to lie and get attention then tell the truth and have nobody care, plus it creates a better atmosphere and build up.

First ever use of the :owned:

Why fight at all when you'd beat anyone, ever, with consumate ease?

It's not down to Floyd's performance in the ring. Yes, everyday fans may not flock to see his fights but he is a superb boxer. I would not ask Floyd to do anything different in the ring.
However, Floyd's propensity for bullshit makes him pointless to listen to. Floyd won't (not can't) take risks and go for a knockout, even through cumulative punches as that is risking his unbeaten streak. That's fine and is what it is. But don't then turn around and promise massacres and toe-to-toe whuppings cause it might hype one fight but very quickly you alienate the very people you are trying to cultivate as fans.
He's playing to the ghettos but not delivering for them.
Imagine the scorn and annoyance that say Shannon Briggs would cause if he promised a battle to the death, non stop barriage of punches, boxing masterclass only to lumber slowly around the ring huffing and puffing and throwing 8 wild swings per round, winning with a lucky punch in the 12th.
Then imagine how you'd greet each successive promise of exciting slug fests.
Floyd hurts himself with his bullshit.
Floyd delivers such finesse and style in the ring the only way for him to dissappoint fans is to promise them blood and guts.
Floyd's his own worst enemy.
