IF you'll remember after the fight, Lampley said something likem "The UFC is popular because it's entertaining, but the skill level isnt close to what you saw in the ring tonight."
Then Max Kellerman said, "I disagree with Jim. I think the skill level is very close..." yaddah yaddah yaddah.
Jim Lampley was apparently upset with Max and Max may be in a bit of trouble apparently. They were talking about it on the Radio this morning.
It was kinda like a slap in the face, the new guy telling the old veteran he's wrong.
Maybe it was a bit disrespectful or w/e
I agree with Lampley. A boxer may not be able to beat a UFC guy at his own game, but the sport of boxing takes a lot more skill then a brawl. Not saying one is harder then the other, but Boxing is more skillful
Th Best Strikers Cant Fight In Ufc.. If They Do They Have To Change There Straigh Deadly Stikes To The Groin Which Is Like The Jab .. It A Hard Choice To Make For Some Of The Best Strikers
Great the rednecks saved mma... I don't want mma to be on hbo, that shits trash
yeah right , all the champs in the UFC have a degree. even anderson silva, unlike, the vargas, floyds, judahs. and other punks in boxing.
I give Max a lot of props because he is speaking his mind. Forget who has been doing what for how long, if you feel you know what you're talking about, then you go ahead and voice your opinion. Forget age and all that stuff, never let anyone make you feel incompetent over something like age. Max is knowledgeable and his opinion is as valid as everyone else's.
Bingo.
.......

As much as Max's commentary annoys me at times I was very happy to see him stand up against Lampley. Lampley made that stupid comment as a last ditch effort. He knew that the fight didn't deliver enough to draw casual fans so he resorted to a stupid comment out of frustration.
His arrogant comment only pushed away the mma fans even more IMO. Thank god Max said something so atleast it doesn't seem like all boxing fans are taking cheap pathetic shots at mma.
Its not mma's fault that it's drawing all the casual fans. If every f'ing boxing match wasn't on ppv or even if there were available on regular cable then that would help boxing more then anything. I'd challenge any casual fan towatch Cotto and Malignaggi and I guarantee they will be interested. Just my .02
It takes an insane amount of skill in both sports. If a boxer fought a boxing match against an mma guy, he's probably KO him inside of a few rounds. If an mma guy fought an mma fight against a boxer, he'd KO him within a round, unless got caught with a punch coming in......bottom line, there's many ways to reference and debate, but both sports are greatly entertaining and require, like I said, and insane amount of skill.
I didnt see it so I apologize for getting off subject, but Roy needs to come back and commentate.
I think BOXER vs MMA guy would make for some huge events.
I think they will happen as well, somewhere down the line when the tension between both sports in unbearable.
And whoever wins wont prove who's the better sport, but they would be really exciting IMO.
And i think its EXCELLENT that UFC will be on HBO. not because im gonna watch it, but because the boxing shows will be better selected, and when they would normally take two fights and make them headlines on two seperate nights, they will make them on the same card or make a doubleheader.
Lampley will slap around Max like he slaps around his women.
Lampley is a bully and I hope Lennox has Max's back.
Maybe Lampley should discuss this over with some of the MMA fighters
who ordered the story?
i agree with Max. it wasnt slapping Lampley in the face he said he just disagrees. Can people disagree with one another without someone throwing a bitch fit and crying like a little baby. If Lampley doesnt like being disrespected maybe he should dish out some respect first. MMA fighters bust their ass just as hard as boxers.
Both are highly skilled crafts. If those MMA fellas make one wrong move with their bodies then they're fucked...much like with boxing. I don't really get down on UFC and all of that, but it's easy to see that those guys bust their asses extremely hard as well.
If boxing requires more skill than that's fine, but maybe Lampley was out of line taking a verbal jab at MMA when he didn't necessarily need to. He could have said that MMA was gaining momentum but it will never eclipse boxing because boxing is such a highly skilled craft that has been around forever and the like. I don't think he needed to say that boxing is "lightyears ahead of MMA" to get his point across.
Max is a confrontational dude...I wouldn't call him a traitor to boxing for saying what he said though. Just my 2 cents.

UFC = full fighting
It is not all about "Brawling": many are well trained, well taught Martial Artists that have learned more than one form of fighting, making them well rounded in the "Art" of fighting.
Boxing was invented for self defense and offense. It is the same as other forms of fighting.
Boxing is taught in kickboxing and other forms of karate.
I say this: you take an "elite" boxer from an early age and teach him more forms of fighting, not just boxing, he would do just as well.
