Maybe it does not favor the boxer, but I think the point here is that if somebody like a wrestler is coming in, he better be prepared to take a strike or two.
Just think how fast and powerful Tyson was, now imagine trying to figure out a way to take him down before he hits you.
This is why I have said, take an elite boxer like Tyson (when he was in his prime, motivated, determined to learn), and give him 2-3 years of training/preperation (or maybe less), and he will do well.

The truth however is a bood boxer can make it in mma by learning basic wrestling defense.
No, basic wrestling only gets you so far as well. What happens when you go against a guy that has college or greater wrestling skill? The boxing with basic wrestling defense IS going to be taken down at will, and if the college wrestler knows some subs, then the boxer IS going to get tooled.
A complete fighter needs:
Boxer's hands
Muey Tai legs and clenches
Wrestling Takedowns
Judo base
BJJ submissions
Boxing is only a small part of a complete fighter. A strict boxer would not fare well even with basic takedown defense. If his opponent has good kicks that snap, the boxer's takedown defense is going to get REALLY slow after taking a couple of kicks to his kneecaps and nerves in his legs. Not to mention a boxer's clench ability is laughable compared to a judo or muey tai clench.
Basically, boxing is NOT the ultimate form of fighting, in fact it's not even close. That same principle applies to Judo, wrestling, and others. Each style has it's element where it specializes in. Get over it folks, and enough of this ludicrous talk about a "boxer will soon expose MMA for what they are." LEARN about real fighting, and how real fights progress. Boxer Mike Tyson has sold his Paradise Valley house for $2.339 million just two years after he paid $2.1 million for the mountainside enclave.
The 7,788-square-foot property was built in 1988. It sits on the west side of Mummy Mountain behind a private gate at the end of a cul de sac. The main house has five bedrooms, a game room and a library. There's also a guest house and a four-car garage.
“It's very well built and sits on a gorgeous lot,'' said Kris LaCroix of the Equitable Real Estate Co. She had the listing and also noted that it was “a pleasure'' working with Tyson on the sale.
The property initially listed for $2.45 million, LaCroix said. It was on the market for more than 110 days, according to the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service. The MLS average market time for single-family homes in March was 92.59 days, though agents that specialize in top end houses say those properties typically take longer to sell since the buyer pool is smaller and more picky.
Thomas M. Connelly, a Phoenix attorney representing Tyson in that case, said that as far as he knows, the decision to sell the house had been made before the arrest. “There's no relationship between that (the house sale) and the incident we're defending,'' he said. Tyson bought the house in May of 2005. A limited liability partnership called Oppenheimer Partners Properties is the new owner. The company is controlled by Eric Hamburger and Karl Haytcher, according to state records.
The media made a commotion when Tyson began building a pigeon coop in the backyard of the house shortly after buying it. He didn't have the proper permits, but his representatives later filed for a building permit for a coop that was expected to house 85 to 100 birds.
