Too often I read others opinions on the Internet. I tell myself not to, yet I still do. Some times it ends up being positive, but more times than not it unfortunately isn't.
While reading people's thoughts or opinions I tend to see a pattern. A pattern of immaturity, parroting ideas to fit an agenda, inductive reasoning based conclusions and blind favoritism (sounds like 95% of U.S. voters, but that's another discussion).
I constantly wonder : why do people take for granted the tools that are available to them? Why do people use these tools and constantly look for conflict or dispute? (The keyboard warrior if you will).
What causes these patterns to happen over and over again? An escape outlet and a means of channeling negative energy of which they carry in their everyday life? That's usually what I gather to be the cause for these types of individuals.
It becomes a contradiction when one says they love Boxing, yet spend hours, months, years of their lives speaking negatively of those that step into the ring. Am I saying this type of talk should never happen? No. Because some times the situation warrants it, how ever as an observer you have to ask yourself : Am I spending the majority my time focusing on what's negative or what's positive? It truly is all a matter of perception. Then if you fall into the category of the former of the two trains of thought mentioned above you then have to ask yourself : How am I reacting to this? What am I doing about it? What can I do about it?
The tools that I was referring to earlier in this post were the various forms of media and information we in today's world have available to us. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, YouTube, Reddit, Forums, Chats, etc.
We have all of these tools available to us and yet we use them for selfish, toxic, abusive ways. And to me it is a shame to see. A shame to see what can be used for beautiful reasons and outcomes be majority wise used in a pathetic, weak manner.
Too often I see a side of those claiming to be passionate Boxing fans looking down on others that don't share the same opinion when it comes to the style that a Boxing that should be performed or having negative opinions towards those they deem to be "casuals". Disregarding the fact that is the casual observer that is needed for the sport to exist in a thriving form in terms of interest and economics.
The potential that "hardcore" fans could have versus the state of where things are is so far apart. We can form coalitions, groups, communities, etc. and use our energy to produce how we want to see things.
I am taking a pledge that I will be a leader of hopefully a new train of thought, a new way of going about things and looking to give our dedication and passion make an effect into the world and sport of Boxing. To stand against the corruption, inept behavior and foolishness that plagues our sport.
The main focus will be for hardcore and casuals alike to band together, use information for enlightenment, investigate and look to form massive petitions with thorough reasoning.
No more can we allow things to go "as is".
I am a man that always believes power to the people over the power of a few.
I will keep updates as to what my thoughts, moves/plans are in this page.
Sincerely,
A caring fan of the sport, culture and community
