When Jones fought Ruiz, what weight did he come into that fight at?
199.
Jones would win. He may be 10 years older, but so is toney. toney does his best work when people come towards him. roy wouldnt. and he's to fast for toney to counter punch. jones could stick and move all night long.
Oh please
He won the fight fair and square. Fact is he busted Vitali up so bad with his fist he could not continue. That fight goes two more rounds Vitali's eye would have popped out of the damn socket.
Vitali had a golden oppertunity in from of him. Vitali fought a fat, old and out of shape Lewis and STILL got beaten.
This is one thing that kills me about boxing fans. We beg and cry for Evander to get out because he's clearly hurting himself, yet Lewis walks away on top and he gets critasized too. I mean what is it?
Lewis is 39 years old, has all his brain cells, all his money, a new family and is kicking back on a beach in Jamcia right now. He noticed his heart wasn't in it anymore and walked away on top.
Good for Lennox
Word. Vitiali is pissing me off because he keeps calling out lennox. he lost and lennox won. fair and square. it may have been ugly, but lennox still won. even if lennox came back and vitiali won(which i dont think he would) it would do nothing for him. vitiali needs to get over it.
Roy would beat Toney because of frustration. In their first fight Toney got so frustrated and jus stopped fighting. Roy gets in Toney's head so well. Roy would do the same thing again and Toney would stop fighting because hed be pissed.
I dont think Roy would knock him out but I think hes capable of a TKO.
I dont think roy would TKO for two reasons:
1) Roy is safety first fighter, going for a tko would put him in range of a toney counter
2) Toney may be a dick, but he's also a tough son of a bitch.
There is no way Hopkins uses steroids, he just stays in shape all year round. However, there are guy's who do cheat. Vargas and Mosley have been mentioned, although Mosley hasn't never bee caught. So therefore it's unclear if he's a cheat or not. RJJ got busted before, and got off with a crappy 500 dollar fine.
Funny how you forgot to mention that roy and his oppponent both tested positive. they retook the test and both came out negative. there is such a thing as a false postive.
Hey on yahoo sports they have pics of it also and there is this priceless one. RJJ ugly kids cryin there lil snotnosed faces off as their daddy lies motionless in the ring. PRICELESS. That one as good or even better than the Chris Byrd's Wife crying as Wlad was destroying him!
That's a pretty disgusting statement.
I just read this, it's from the post fight press conference last night.
"I hope Roy retires,” bluntly stated Tarver. “He needs to stay home and take care of himself. I give him (Jones) all the credit in the world but I don't want him to get hurt. I want to see Roy enjoy his life after boxing (and) ride off into the sunset."
If he wasnt being sarcastic, I think it's a very cool thing to say. Show's some class.
I think he was sincere. And i cant say i disagree with him completely. Roy's lost the things that made hime such a great fighter. and if he choses to try and fight in the same style, this will keep happening.
Obvisouly I'm disappointed that roy lost. but, i think i'm more disappointed in the fact that he didnt adjust his style after the tarver loss. he should follow his rivals examples (James Toney and Bernard Hopkins) and use his whole body as a defensive tool. not just his legs. I know you hate roy, but be honest: he would have never lost to johnson 5 years ago.
Just curious what you think and what your opinions are on this...
Everyone from middleweight to heavyweight was anticipating roys 1st and 2nd move as all big fights led to roy jones jr. especially for the mega bucks
Hopkins road was headed towards Jones
Toneys road was headed towards Jones (although he is focused on klitschko)
Tarvers road was headed towards Jones
Jones road was connected to all 3 men...
Does this spoil the big mega fights?
I think so and only one fighter is going to be hurt from it aside from jones.
Hopkins has the lucrative options of fighting Trinidad for a rematch or Jermain Taylor and why not eastman?
Toney has bigger and badder things from klitschko to jirov enough said
Jones can retire gracefully...However it is going to burn Roy Jones inside retiring at the end with 2 ko losses, which is why I dont think he will retire and will fight atleast 3 more fights and then hang them up in easy fashion fights, Back to the garbage and postal men for you....However we are not even sure if he would handle those guys well....Considering pressure=defeat for Jones
Roy Jones is the little mike tyson, you stand up and put pressure make him feel stupid and not all big and bad and he drops....
The only man hurting from this is Tarver?
Where does tarver go now? His light heavyweight days are over as noone is their to challenge him besides calzaghe which isnt a big mega fight (although I favor calzaghe)
He could drop down to middle or super middleweight to go against hopkins...But where is the interest now?
He could go up to heavyweight and bang with the big boys but as well who is their for him???
Anyone else wish to spread some thoughtul thinking and opinions?
I would like to see tarver fight toney. Toney would rip him apart, IMO.
I was thinking the same thing. He was instantly on the phone. "what do I do know?"
I thought the same thing. I figured tarver would be there to kick up some dust if roy won. tarver is probably still pretty far in debt and roy was the only big payday in the light heavy division.
after the tarver ko
toney and hopkins roads to roy only strnegthen
cuz now they knew for sure he could be beat
b4 no one reall wnated the rematch they jus said that cuz they needed to
but tarver is serioulsy screwed now
lmao dat shit is too funny
what sux more
obvioulsy tarvers forst ko was more meaningful since he was da first
but i thought that johnson did a far better job of beaten a demonstrating that roy was done
tarver made it seem like one lucky punch
Glen thouroly handed my boy roy an ass whoppen
still much love for roy
but its time to hang up the gloves
I agree 100%.
no, the dumbass got up and got another right hook from Jermain O'Neal...wooooh KTFO.
I thought the whole scene was disgraceful, but i did laugh at that. :D
He showed he had no heart in his loss to a past prime jones and got his ass beat by harding. only real claim to fame is his loss to jones then of course the knock out win. The KO of jones looked impressive until a tough journeyman did it again a few months later. Tarver is way overated.
TOS is basically good and dangerous. This shows that Wlad took on a very decent opponent in TOS in the last fight, and he won clearly the 6 round fight. It was not Wlad's faalt that the fight had been stopped at 6.
Wlad's win is so much more respectable than the Ruiz "win" over Golota. I am still in total shock about the decision.
Don King has never given a chance to Golota. He selected judges and the referees for the fight that would favor Ruiz's Hugging! There was a high probability of going to the socrecards, and Don Ding had figured that he is better off with a Hispanic Champion than with a Polish one. Golota really needed a pure KO win to pull this one off. He was very close to his goal.
Golota has now been robbed FOUR times of his championship belt. The boxing maganats do not want a Polish chamption. I really hope Golota gets one more chance and wins a belt.
OK, there's byrd and ruiz. what are the other two?
