As a Brit, I'll be pulling for Nathan in this one, but I thoroughly expect Hopkins to outclass and embarrass him. Nathan is going to look very limited and one dimensional in there.
Hatton. /thread.
Agreed. Hatton was on a completely different level to all the rest. The sh*t he did, for any professional athlete never mind one operating at an elite level, was truly mindboggling.
Call me old fashioned, but women's boxing is a complete joke.
Yeah, I used to have the same opinion but I changed my mind last year. Nicola was one of the biggest stars of London 2012 for me. I think she single handedly changed a lot of people's perceptions of women's boxing. Got to give her credit for that.
Groves is very overrated. He's slow and has no head movement.
I'd expect Froch to finish him...
I'd expect Froch to beat him too at this point, but you are wrong on both counts. Groves is not slow and certainly doesn't have no head movement. Who the hell have you been watching ?
mmm, I'm a big fan of George Groves, I think he is way better than he gets credit for, but I am not liking this change in his personality. I don't really think trash talk suits him and he should just concentrate on knocking guys out and letting his fists do the talking. Clearly Eddie Hearn is looking to build up a rivalry between the two ahead of a future fight down the line and I think Hearn needs to be careful. The British public turned against James Degale when he started acting like an arse, It would be a shame to see Groves go down that road. For the most part the British public warm to likeable guys that they can identify with.
Anyway, for the record I think Groves has enough to beat Froch somewhere down the line, but not now, it really isn't a fight I'm interested in just yet and I suspect neither is Eddie Hearn. I would imagine Hearn plans to set up 2 or 3 more big fights for Froch, and then have a domestic superfight with Groves maybe late 2014/early2015 which could act as a handing over of the baton were Froch to lose.

8: Who sang the national anthem at the Micheal Katsidis vs Kevin Mitchell clash at Upton Park in May??
Sh*t, I'd forgotten about this. I won't spoil it by giving the answer, but this was truly the worst rendition of any national anthem from inside a boxing ring. And there have been some shockers over the years...
Vintage Haye. I'm presuming there'll be some sort of promotional tour coming up. Maybe even a trip to america to hype it over there. We should be in for some fine trashtalking.
erm, Carl Froch was the number 1 ranked fighter with the WBC at the time. He was Calzaghe's mandatory. Not quite the same.
Groves should be calling out Steiglitz. Degale should just shut the f*ck up.
respect Mr Froch, and you can bet your arse they are all going to be against top tier opposition. By the time he hangs them up he's going to have been on a run of maybe 15 fights, 14 of which were against one of the best out there. It's almost a shame he took the Mack fight as it breaks up the run a bit, but still I don't imagine anyone else will have a run of fights like this any time soon. We need to savour the Cobra while we've got him, we may not see his like again.
From the noises I'm hearing, I think it is going to be Charr in June.
To be honest, I'm not that thrilled about it as a fight. I've got no reason to rate Charr that highly, from the little I've seen of him Haye should do a number on him quite easily. That said, he is number 8 in the WBC rankings so it would be a useful win but only if he steps it up a big notch for his 2nd fight.
I think we might have found the new Ricky Hatton. That was like a Leeds United match. Pretty crazy stuff.
As for his boxing, this lad has really come on. He looks the part to me, couldn't really see any weaknesses. I think he'd give Lee Selby a hell of a fight.
