BOXING'S Peter Pan Bernard Hopkins is ready to fight Welshman Nathan Cleverly in London this July.
Hopkins - the fight game's oldest ever world champion at 48 - wants a world title unification fight with rival champ Cleverly above any other.
But WBO champion Cleverly, 26, must first get through unscathed against German Robin Krasniqi at Wembley on April 20.

Cleverly's strength in this fight will be his weakness as well he seems naive enough to just go out there and let his hands go no matter what the consequences even if he catches hard right counters in return which he will there is a chance Bernard could get a stoppage but that could make it a faster pace than Hopkins wants or can handle most guys who fight Hopkins get into the thinking game and wait/wait and then it's too late but that's certainly not Clev he don't think he throws and that's what he has to do to win.
If he gets say 3-4 good/solid wins and the Canelo/Trout winner, and Hopkins gets Cleverly and that's it. I don't know....
Like I said, if floyd doesn't fight the winner of Trout/canelo and someone like Martinez he's not catching him.
Unless Floyd fights the winner of canelo/Trout and mister Martinez he ain't catching *****e and you know it.

If Hopkins unifies dis ole thang, he will have put himself so far out of reach of those other 2 atg's already so far behind him they might as well goone ahead and retire.
chris john and cesar rene cuenca?
I think Floyd could still catch him, depending on how and who he fights his last few years here.
I really don't think Hopkins is THAT far ahead of Manny or Floyd. Manny won't have the fights or fighters available because he's with Top Rank, to catch Hopkins.

This is what I was thinking. All the clean, conservative work that B-Hop puts in during a round, will not get a reaction out of the crowd. Then Cleverly might do a flurry in the first minute of the round, and another flurry at the 3rd minute and the judges will give it to him.
It's not the right atmosphere for Hopkins and his current, ultra-conservative style of fighting.
crowds are very important in fights. the crowd in hopkins-calzaghe gave calzaghe 3-4 rounds alone just for screaming at misses. 9 rounds to 3 for calzaghe? how? also paying off the judges doesn't hurt. if baldomir-mayweather were in argentina baldomir probably gets the nod but since everyone left or was sleeping the judges saw that baldomir was missing everything.
easy fight for cleverly. all he has to do is not get ko'd. you know cleverly is going to throw more. you know the crowd is going to go nuts and pretend like it's landing just like in calzaghe-hopkins. at least we will get another cleverly-hopkins deception video to analyze out of it.
Of course, going in there with the mindset of taking the fight to Hopkins and trying to outwork him will inevitably open up a lot of counter punching opportunities, and Cleverly's defense is crap enough as it is.And he hasn't fought anyone even remotely close to the level of footwork and in-ring intelligence that Hopkins has; as well conditioned and capable of throwing in high volume as Cleverly is, guys like Hopkins have a way of cutting down your output and really limiting your options.
BHOP fights different boxers than CLEV right now,he prefer fights punchers or strong fighters than skilled boxers with stamina like CLEV obviously at his age. BHOP will lose to CLEV believe me!
